Sword Art Online Light Novels Have More Than 16.7 Million Copies in Print Worldwide

The Dengeki Bunko Editorial Department announced on the Sword Art Online anime's Twitter account on Friday that the original light novel series has more than 16,700,000 copies in print worldwide.
The number includes sales in Japan, Taiwan, China, Korea, Thailand, America, Canada, and Great Britain. Dengeki Bunko mentions that translations are planned for Vietnam, Germany, Italy, France, and Poland.
Yen Press publishes Reki Kawahara's light novel series in North America, and shipped the third volume, the first volume of the Fairy Dance arc, on Tuesday. Yen Press also licensed Kawahara's retelling and expansion of the Aincrad arc, Sword Art Online: Progressive, and the manga adaptations for both that and the original. Aniplex of America releases the anime.
