Actor Callan McAuliffe Interviewed About Live-Action Kite Film
posted on by Karen Ressler
Entertainment news website Celebrity Teen Scoop posted an interview on Thursday with actor Callan McAuliffe (I Am Number Four, New Director) concerning his role as Oburi in the upcoming live-action Kite film project. McAuliffe notes in the interview that in the upcoming film Oburi is a childhood friend of Sawa's (played by India Eisley), and the two later meet again in their teens to "battle a changed world together."
McAuliffe said of Oburi that he "is a protector; he has seen a lot more death than anyone should see in the world that changed from his childhood. He comes back into Sawa's life to see the journey through with her."
Samuel L. Jackson will also be starring in the film as Karl Aker, Sawa's late father's ex-partner on the police force. McAuliffe described Jackson's character as a "perceived leader of the community," and McAuliffe said he is excited to be working with Jackson for the first time.
South African director Ralph Ziman (Gangster's Paradise: Jerusalema) will direct the film after the passing of director David R. Ellis. Anant Singh and Distant Horizon's Brian Cox are producing the film with Detalle Films' Moisés Cosío and Alberto Muffelmann.
