Warner Bros. to produce film with I Am Legend's Akiva Goldsman
Warner Brothers acquired the film rights to Taito and Tomohiro Nishikado's classic arcade game Space Invaders. Warners attached producers Akiva Goldsman (I Am Legend, Constantine, Paranormal Activity), Joby Harold, and Tory Tunnell to the proposed project.
Matt Schwartz of Weed Road Safe House Pictures and Warner Bros.' Jesse Ehrman are also attached to the project.
Space Invaders debuted in arcades in Japan in 1978, followed by its introduction in American arcades later that same year. The iconic game puts players in control of a cannon guarding four bases from slowly descending rows of aliens.
