Expelled from Paradise Film Tops 107 Million Yen

Rakuen Tsuihō - Expelled from Paradise, the anime film by director Seiji Mizushima, writer Gen Urobuchi, and the studios Toei Animation and Graphinica, opened on 13 Japanese theaters on November 15. After its third weekend (ending on November 30), it has sold 65,854 tickets for 107,725,100 yen (about US$909,000) in 15 days.
In its first two days, the film sold 17,274 tickets, enough to rank #9 for the weekend. It earned 29,194,600 yen (about US$250,000) in its first weekend. The theaters held advance sales of the movie's limited Blu-ray Disc edition, but they sold out within those two days. The animeanime.jp website reports that shipments of the film's December 10 Blu-ray Disc and DVD retail release are currently estimated at over 30,000 copies, judging by pre-orders.
