Akira (movie) Good I watched this movie at 5 AM after having not slept for at least 24 hours. I didn't fall alseep, so it must not be too bad. It's been a while since I've seen it though...
Blue Submarine No.6 (OAV) So-so Meh. It was alright, but I wouldn't recommend it.The CG was pretty good, and it was original... But I just didn't like it very much.
Cowboy Bebop (TV) Masterpiece I watched the first 4 episodes when they first aired on Cartoon Network, then I bought the DVDs and watched it all within a week. It's a great series, but I'm sure just about everyone knows that. If you're one of the two anime fans who have never seen it, go buy it now.
Dragon Ball (TV) Masterpiece I love Dragon Ball. Every fan of shonen anime should. The DVD release for the series is great. Most DVDs contain at least 7 episodes and each 2-disc set retails for around $40.
Dragon Ball Movie 2: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle Bad This movie was really pointless and not worth watching at all. At least it wasn't as bad as movie 3.
Dragon Ball Movie 3: Mystical Adventure Worst ever Uhg... This "movie" is just a clip show of a lot of other episodes, but it screws up the plot and tries to include way too much. Never waste your time or money on this "movie". Just watch the Dragon Ball TV series instead.
Dragon Ball Z (TV) Very good It's not nearly as good as Dragon Ball, but it's still entertaining. I prefer the manga because it doesn't drag on as much, but it's still fun to see all the fights animated.
Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku (special) Not really good The first Dragon Ball Z TV special tells the story of Son Goku's dad. It's worth watching, but it doesn't have much to do with the plot of Dragon Ball.
Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge (movie 5) Weak The dub sound track was just as bad as movie 4's was. Another movie not worth seeing.
Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone (movie 1) Bad I hate most of the Dragon Ball Z movies. This is no exception.
Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug (movie 4) Bad The movies start getting a little better after this one, but not much better. The dub's sound track is terrible.
Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks (special) Decent The 2nd TV special tells the story of Mirai Trunks. I liked it more than the first TV special, but it's not necessary either.
Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might (movie 3) Bad Yet another dull, unimaginitive Dragon Ball Z movie.
Dragon Ball Z: The World's Strongest (movie 2) Bad Again, another bad Dragon Ball Z movie.
El Hazard: The Alternative World (TV) Good I bought all 4 DVDs used off someone on a forum I go to. I'm glad I did, cause I probably wouldn't have paid full price for them. Not that it's bad, but it isn't really a favorite... But even so, I watched the entire series in 1 night. It was entertaining, and now that a box set is out I encourage more people to see it. It's a continuation of the OVA, but you don't necessarily need to watch the OVA first. I've never seen the OVA, but I understood what was going on. Still, I'd recommend you see the OVA first.
Escaflowne: The Movie Bad The Escaflowne movie is a terrible remake of the TV series. The animation is better, but everything else about it is much worse. The worst part was that I spent $50 for the Special Edition. Just watch the TV series, it's much better.
Grave of the Fireflies (movie) Very good This movie is great. It's one of few anime movies that's actually relevant compared to most mainstream movies. This would be a great movie to show to someone who isn't into anime. We even got to watch it in school a few years ago. =)
Hikaru no Go (TV) Excellent Hikaru no Go is one of my favorite series of all time. It uses lots of cliche Shonen plot devices, but executes them in a unique way. Instead of revolving around fighting, like most Shonen series, it's based around the board game Go. A seires about a board game might not sound interesting at first, but give it a try. Even if you don't like most Shonen anime, you might like HikaGo. The only thing I didn't like was that the last 5 volumes were never animated, and the last episode felt very rushed. Still, it's an amazing series and no one should miss it. I look forward to the Region 1 DVD release.
Hunter X Hunter (TV 1999) Very good
Love Hina (TV) Bad If you've ever read the manga, watching the Love Hina anime series is painful. Just about all of the plot was left out, and most of the episodes are totally pointless. The only good point is it's music. This series isn't worth watching. Just buy the manga.
Love Hina Spring Special - I Wish Your Dream Awful Even worse than the TV series. The Spring Special is an attempt at animating part of Volume 8 of the manga, but not a very good attempt. And they even randomly broke into song. >_< Uhg... Bad memories...
Love Hina X'mas Special - Silent Eve Weak Not nearly as bad as the Spring Special, but it's still not very good. Like I said before, just read the manga.
Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory (OAV) So-so It was really boring at times, but I still enjoyed it. It's not worth buying unless you're a true Gundam fan, which I am not. I'd recommend you watch it on TV if it ever airs again.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (TV) Good This is the first series I ever bought on DVD. It's one of my favorite Gundam series, and one that actually kept me awake the whole time. Most people have seen it since it was on TV for so long, but if you haven't, I'd recommend seeing it. Since it's a rather long series (10 DVDs) it's probably better to borrow from a friend than to buy, unless you're sure you like it.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (OAV) Good Endless Waltz was alright, but nothing special. If you liked Gundam Wing, pick up Endless Waltz for fun. It's only 3 episodes long.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team (OAV) Good 08th MS is a lot better than most Gundam series. I didn't find it boring, and it didn't drag on too slow. It's not a very long series, so see it if you ever want a short series to watch.
Night Warriors - Darkstalkers' Revenge (OAV)
Outlaw Star (TV) Very good Outlaw Star is both funny and full of action. Too bad almost everything funny and most of the violence was cut from the TV version. If you've only seen it on TV, you owe it to yourself to go see the DVDs. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good series at a decent price. The box set retails for only $90, and you can probably find it even cheaper online.
Pilot Candidate (TV) Weak As this show went on, I liked it less and less. The dub wasn't very well done, and the CG was just terrible. What's worse is that the series never really ends. It just kinda cuts off after episode 12. Don't bother watching it.
