Cottonballs64's Anime

take a look at Cottonballs64's Manga

I feel like I'm missing something, and I created an account on here so that I would never forget an anime I watched.

Seen all Rating
Afro Samurai (TV) Very good
Pretty good action, a little overrated. Best part of the show: when he pulls out his straw from his pocket. Badass.
Afro Samurai: Resurrection (movie) Very good
Basically the same thing as the series, except that the antagonist is sexy. Hmm...
Ah! My Goddess (TV) Good
I don't know why I like this show, it isn't really all that good, I'll admit it. The action is pretty uneventful and there isn't even really too much drama to fall back on. Comedy is sub-par, and most of the characters get on my nerves... yet, I find myself enjoying the romance portions of the show. Don't ask me to explain the rating.
Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy (TV) Very good
Nearly identacle to the last season, except that this one has Peorth (Yum), and Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship is a little more open, which I enjoyed. I'd say it's better than the first season.
Ah! My Goddess: The Movie
Air (TV) Good
This series probably would have been better had it been longer, and had more room to space out the storyline a little bit. It seemed like everybody was always up to something. The best episodes were the flashback to the past summer, that explained her condition. Otherwise it was all around decent.
Air Gear (TV) Masterpiece
This show is near perfect in every way, great characters, extreme battles with the occasional drama between them, and my favorite anime soundtrack to boot. If you haven't seen it, then I highly recommend it. It'll get your blood pumping. Personal favorite.
Air In Summer (special) Excellent
Because it was only one continuous storyline and wasn't constantly jumping around to people who weren't important. Plus the summer scenes were the best parts in the show. Big improvement.
Akira (movie)
Angel Beats! (TV) Excellent
This show is wonderful. It starts the first episodes defining the characters and where they stand, then it allows us to connect with them one by one. When somebody disappears, your heart strings are easily pulled. Very cute girls too. The story was very well written.
(The) Animatrix (OAV) Good
I've seen this too many times, my friends got obsessed with it, then Adult Swim (my second source of anime ever) would either air it or FLCL between anime series, after one ended, so I've seen it more than enough times. Some episodes I found interesting, like when the guy ran so fast he escaped from the Matrix, or the one where the laws of physics at an apartment building were broken and the kids were playing there, but overall, I could easily never see it again.
anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (TV)
Azumanga Daioh (TV) Very good
It starts off a little slow, but I eventually stopped questioning it and enjoyed myself. Cutsie fun is always breakin' all the rules. The last episode was depressing, I can't handle goodbyes...
Bamboo Blade (TV) Excellent
Anybody else become obsessed with Kendo after this?
Berserk (TV 1997)
(The) Big O (TV) Very good
Batman + giant robots was how this was described to me... spot on. I didn't mind the shift from it being episodic to having a linear storyline, but this is yet again an overly hyped anime (Like most around that time). It's pretty good, but there are better ones.
Blue Gender (TV) Good
Decent series, first half kind of seems like a zombie survival series, with aliens. Another good part of the show was the selection of music. The weak part to the series was the ending, and most of the events that led up to it.
Blue Submarine No.6 (OAV) Masterpiece
Great CG for the time, with a wonderful story. Second anime series I'd ever seen, it's easily one of the most memorable for me. I find myself quoting it often, too. As for the soundtrack, it goes perfect with the show. Personal favorite.
Buso Renkin (TV) Very good
Um what? When I was watching this, I became concerned that I would end up being the only person in the world to fully enjoy it, but it apparently doesn't weird too many people out. Tokiko is definitely one of my favorite anime girls, and her Valkyrie Skirt is entirely badass. One of the few animes that didn't put me off with their "I don't want to kill anybody" attitude, mostly because it didn't keep people in the show from dying out, you can't save everyone.
Case Closed (TV) Masterpiece
Oh my god, it NEVER ENDS. Nor should it, since Sherlock Holmes re-imaginations (or whatever you want to call it) are one of my favorite genres. I know that it's a tough show to dub (since a lot of the mysteries revolve around the Japanese language and Kanji characters), but I'm one of the few still hoping that Funimation will dub further into the series. Not that the lack of dubbed episodes stopped me, I'm not afraid of watching shows in Japanese.
Case Closed Movie: The Time Bombed Skyscraper (movie 1) Excellent
The Last Magician of the Century < X < The Fourteenth Target
Case Closed: Captured in Her Eyes (movie 4) Good
X < All other Detective Conan movies
Case Closed: The Fourteenth Target (movie 2) Masterpiece
All other Detective Conan movies < X
Case Closed: The Last Wizard of the Century (movie 3) Very good
The Phantom of Baker Street < X < The Time Bombed Skyscraper
Case Closed: The Phantom of Baker Street (movie 6) Very good
Captured in her Eyes < X < The Last Magician of the Century
Castle in the Sky (movie)
Chaos;HEAd (TV) Good
It starts out strong, being kind of a psychological drama, then starts to dissolve into a detective show, but slowly settles into a poor romantic comedy. It wasn't bad, but the atmosphere of the show wouldn't hold solid. The outro song was fun.
Clannad (TV) Masterpiece
Believe the hype, it is indeed awesome. Sadly, I feel it peaked in episode 8. FUKO! Not that the rest of the show isn't amazing too, it's just hard to beat such intense drama. Damn. At the end of the episodes, I was always sure to watch the Dango family dance around to the song "Dango Daikazoku", never gets old. Personal favorite.
Claymore (TV) Excellent
Great for the action, good for the story, though many of the characters are hard to sympathize with. Check it out.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV) Masterpiece
BADASS. It's like the atmosphere of Death Note meets the extreme battle sequences of Gundam 00. Personal favorite.
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 (TV) Masterpiece
I waited almost a year to watch this season, because I saw that everyone was "hoping for an R3" to come out soon, which told me that it likely ended on a cliffhanger like the last season. I don't like being left not knowing what happens, so I was rejoiced to see the series end on a strong note. I soon found out that this 3rd season will merely be a side story. Someone probably should have just mentioned that the show ended. Could have saved me some time. Personal favorite.
Cowboy Bebop (TV) Excellent
A lot of people claim that this anime is the greatest shit ever taken. Well they're wrong. While it is indeed a superb shit, I feel that the story was too vague and episodic to hold such a title. I can remember each and every amazing event from my favorite series, because I cared so deeply for what was happening. This series is fun for beginners, who can't sit through a whole series at a time, but there are better shows available to us. I will take a moment to note that the ending was great, and didn't leave us hanging in any sense. Plus the soundtrack (Yoko Kanno & The Seatbelts) was perfectly composed to produce the atmosphere this show needed for its success. Check it out if you get the chance.
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie Excellent
I liked the movie a little bit more than I did the show itself.
Cromartie High School (TV) Excellent
Ever seen Aqua Teen Hunger Force? If you like that kind of absurd humor, then don't be surprised if you "LOL" all night long to these short episodes. Fun, fun. Personal Favorite.
Dead Leaves (OAV) Excellent
Very interesting, with an absurdity paralleled only by FLCL. A bit short, but that just means that there's no excuse for those of you who haven't seen it yet.
Death Note (TV) Masterpiece
Intense. I don't think anyone can resist how extreme this non-action packed show is. Great ending, N was a good character (though nobody could compare to L). Personal favorite.
Desert Punk (TV) Very good
I watched this series with one of my friends, and we enjoyed it quite a bit, though the ending was possibly one of the biggest fuck-ups I've ever seen in an anime. (Rushed much?) For whatever reason, every time I recommend it to someone, they come back with "I hated it, never got good." What the fuck?
Digimon Adventure (TV) Decent
Am I the only one who thinks that Digimon's show was more interesting than Pokemon's? Obviously Pokemon's games are better, but Digimon's are good too. Damn.
DNA² (TV) Good
I watched this because of a game that I played once, and I must say, it's very 90s. Not that that is a bad thing.
Dragon Ball (TV) Very good
I might have grown up with Dragonball Z, but anybody who tries saying that the later series are better than the original are crazy. Classic, brih.
Dragon Ball GT (TV) Good
Yeah, I watched it, and though the story was incredibly flawed, I still thought it was okay, it doesn't get nearly as sidetracked as Z does and you can tell that they were trying to bring back some of the charm from the original series.
Dragon Ball Z (TV) Good
A pretty extreme series, I too was a devout fan up until Cell survived Gohan's beating. That pissed me off. As everyone and their mothers know, this show has too much filler in it. Which is why they're re-releasing it. (Kai)
Elemental Gelade (TV)
Elfen Lied (TV) Excellent
Honestly, I didn't like this series too much at the start, it seemed too cliche, but once it began diving into the back-story of the characters, I became obsessed. One of the most well written back-stories of all time, people should definitely check it out.
Elfen Lied (OAV) Excellent
A bit more cutesy, but that's okay, because its placement in the series lightened what was about to be some intense story. No complaints.
Escaflowne: The Movie
Eureka Seven (TV) Masterpiece
Fairy Tail (TV) Excellent
I haven't watched the new dub yet, because I'm worried it's going to turn out like Rave Master. The action is very enjoyable and not at all scarce, my main complaint. The bad guys always get up when they should be down for the count (though it's not nearly as drawn out as Dragonball Z). It's not barely pulling out a victory if they have to do it three times in a row. Personal favorite.
Fatal Fury 2: The New Battle (special) So-so
It was interesting finally knowing the story behind this one. Not that it was good. Better than the first one though.
Fatal Fury: Legend of the Hungry Wolf (special) Not really good
Ugh, bad. Terry Bogard, my favorite SNK fighting game character, gets no justice in this. Geese isn't nearly as badass as he should be.
Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture Good
I actually kind of enjoyed this one (Though I did see it as a kid the first time). Still, it's definitely better than the other two, Terry goes full badass in this one. Check it out.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (movie) Very good
I haven't seen this since it came out, so I barely remember what actually happens, I hadn't even played FF7 before I watched this. I'll probably have to check it out again.
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (US CG movie) Very good
Why is this in here? Not that it was bad. Alec Baldwin is a badass. It didn't seem so much Final Fantasy as it did survival horror like.
FLCL (OAV) Masterpiece
This is very charming, and I was the same age as Naota when I watched it, so it wasn't hard to relate to it. It's also always worth re-watching, and the soundtrack by the Pillows was excellent. Personal favorite.
Fruits Basket (TV 1/2001) Excellent
I watched this with my brother, and he hated it (Found out later that he likes the dark gritty kind of stuff better). I found the characters charming and I sympathized with Kyo's ostracism from his family. The first anime I ever watched that made me feel like reading the manga, it kind of ends just when things are getting good.
Full Metal Panic! (TV) Very good
This is a fun show, a well blended cross between a mecha drama and a romantic comedy. I could see how one could find Sagara's speech somewhat bland, but I think that it adds to the story of him being pure military minded. Fun.
Fullmetal Alchemist (TV) Masterpiece
First series I discovered myself that I obsessed over, I lost cable halfway through the series and had to purchase all of the DVDs as they came out. The brotherly love that Edward and Alphonse share is commendable (The kind where they'd sacrifice themselves in every way possible to save each other). Personal favorite.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (TV) Masterpiece
I was surprised when I first heard this existed and began watching it in Japanese, since the first series was my favorite anime at the time. Yet, I have no reserves when it comes to saying that Brotherhood is better than the original. Still need to watch the dub. Personal favorite.
Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa Masterpiece
The happy ending the brothers deserved (Though not the one you'd expect). Good closure for the series.
(The) Future Diary (TV) Excellent
Gad Guard (TV) Good
Um... overrated. Though I think that it might have just been the dub that bothered me, everyone seemed so damn whiny. Someday I'll watch it in Japanese, then maybe I'll see the hype.
Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo (TV) Excellent
It took me a few episodes to get over the visuals, it takes some getting used to. Luckily I'm not the kind of guy to mind the homoerotic atmosphere of the show, if you can get over those two things, this series is indeed awesome. Intense in every way possible.
Gantz (TV) Masterpiece
I know that the anime isn't too great, it switches story-lines just when the manga gets really good. It's easy to have a deeper appreciation of this anime if you read the manga. Personal favorite.
Genshiken (TV) Excellent
Great slice-of-life anime, with plenty of references to Otaku lifestyle for me to geek out on. I liked the first season the best. That scene from Kujibiki Unbalanced when they're in the hot room in their underwear and sliding around trying to grab each other... I know how awkward it can be for someone to walk in on an anime you're watching without knowing what's going on. I hate that!
Genshiken (OAV) Very good
Kind of uneventful, I had hoped they would have tackled the Doujinshi in this one. Also didn't like the change in art styles. Introduces Ogiue though, she's adorable.
Genshiken 2 (TV) Masterpiece
Season two is a bit slow, but I enjoy the feeling of despair as the club begins to fall apart when the club members leave. Great ending, I wish that Ogiue and Sasahara's... relationship would have evolved more.
Getbackers (TV) Good
The dub wasn't really worth watching, so mid-series I switched to subs. Then it was pretty alright. Still over-hyped, more of a chick anime if you ask me.
Ghost Hunt (TV) Good
I found it boring at first, but as the series progresses, it definitely gets better. Check it out.
Ghost in the Shell (movie) Good
I blame the dub for the rating, it's an interesting movie, that deserves to be enjoyed, but that was just SUCH a bad dub.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (TV) Excellent
Rewatched it to see what up, and it is still awesome. The best part about the series was the soundtrack by Yoko Kanno. Damn.
(The) Girl Who Leapt Through Time (movie) Masterpiece
Great visuals, wonderful story, relatable characters, a touch of science-fiction, and you get this movie. Love the ending. Check it out.
Grave of the Fireflies (movie) Masterpiece
I saw it when I was 10 and guess what? I cried. Goddamn is this depressing.
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka (TV) Excellent
Recommended to me by a friend, I didn't end up watching it until I found out that L'Arc~en~Ciel did the intro song. Check it out if you like random humor and "good will prevail" type stuff. Onizuka can do anything!
Gurren Lagann (TV) Masterpiece
They did it, they fucking did it. And they did it right, every step of the way. Personal favorite.
.hack//SIGN (TV)
Hell Girl (TV) Very good
Um... probably would have been better if I'd watched it when it was airing, cause goddamn, I can only watch about five episodes in a row before I feel sick. Needs more story in each episode to keep me coming back.
High School of the Dead (TV) Good
Pretty decent anime, it could have gotten a better rating if the fanservice meter hadn't gone off the charts. "What's with all the bouncing boobs and panty shots?" my friend asks. "Just cuz," I respond.
Highlander: The Search for Vengeance (movie) Decent
I remember watching this in middle school and thinking it was pretty cool. Then I watched it again a few years later. You know what? It's okay. Nothing more.
Initial D (TV) Excellent
It's hard to explain how this show can be extreme, but one thing is for sure, The Fast and Furious ain't got nothing on Initial D. I found the CG cars to be very charming and nostalgic.
Initial D: Second Stage (TV) Excellent
See above. (Also, I freaked when the 8-6 broke down.)
Initial D: Third Stage (movie) Excellent
Pretty decent movie, it captures the element that the character's lives and relationships with one another are evolving. Which is exactly what one should expect when Fujiwara is graduating!
Jin-Roh - The Wolf Brigade (movie)
K-ON! (TV) Very good
Fluffy time.
Kanokon: The Girl Who Cried Fox (TV) Very good
It's pretty insane how little I understand my enjoyment of this show. The sad thing is that the fanservice didn't bother me too much. Chizuru is adorable, though Yukihana is my favorite.
Kanokon: The Girl Who Cried Fox (OAV) Decent
Not as good as the show, pretty uneventful.
Kanon (TV 2/2006) Very good
This show starts out as a weak comedy, then develops into a very heartwarming harem romance. I still liked Clannad better, which I was often reminded of whilst watching this, but Kanon definitely came through in the end. The music was very enjoyable as well, bringing me back to the good old days, with Tenchi Muyo. To sum it up, it starts weak and ends strong.
Kaze no Stigma (TV) Very good
Ah yes, all good romantic comedies have a little action in them. I'd read the manga to find out what happens next, but I heard it was never finished due to the creator dying.
Kiki's Delivery Service (movie) Very good
Kill Bill Chapter 3: The Origin of O-Ren (movie segment) Very good
Who doesn't love Kill Bill?
Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You (TV) Masterpiece
This has quickly become one of (if not) my favorite romantic comedy/slice of life animes of all time. Cute, heartwarming and funny to boot. If slice of life is your thing, then don't even think about it, watch this now! Personal favorite.
Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season (TV)
Kujibiki Unbalance (OAV) Very good
It's nice to finally know what the hell was happening in those little clips from Genshiken. Still utterly insane though.
Kujibiki Unbalance (TV)
Love Hina (TV) Masterpiece
Love Hina Again (OAV)
Love Hina Spring Special - I Wish Your Dream
Love Hina X'mas Special - Silent Eve
Lucky Star (TV)
Lunar Legend Tsukihime (TV) Very good
Watched it cause is sounded cool several years ago, and you know what? Don't really remember much. I remember liking it overall though.
Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic (TV)
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) Masterpiece
I entered this series without knowing what was going on (at all). Which meant that the first episode confused the living shit out of me. But I feel like it just strengthened the hilarity that was approaching because this series is one of the funniest romantic comedies I've ever seen. Personal favorite.
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV 2009 renewal) Masterpiece
See above. (Goddamn those 8 time loop episodes...)
Metropolis (movie)
Midori Days (TV) Masterpiece
Probably my favorite romantic comedy anime. It's funny, cute, and has great closure. I love it. I LOVE MIDORI! Personal favorite.
Mobile Suit Gundam (TV) Excellent
It took me about five attempts before I was finally able to watch this show as a whole. Amuro has a cool development which adds to the story. I didn't really feel the psychic portions of the show towards the end of the series, but all of the battle scenes were intense and dramatic. Also there's a scene where Char shoots a chick in the head with a bazooka. Badass. Char is one of the greatest antagonists an anime has ever seen. Check it out.
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (TV) Excellent
This show is EXTREME. Nothing happens that doesn't get my blood pumping and my emotions torn in two. Favorite Gundam series (From the few I've seen).
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Second Season (TV) Excellent
I didn't know how they could possibly restore this series into a second season after all that happened towards the end of the first season, but luckily they found a way, and as usual, nobody can withstand the power of a true Gundam!
Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: A Wakening of the Trailblazer Good
Weak compared to the show. In fact, not much of anything happened. I'm not even entirely sure what I watched. Goddamn.
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (TV) Excellent
I loved the first season's intro song, and since I grew up with Gundam Wing, it's easy for me to geek out on this series. Some really cool Gundams in this series (Deathscythe being my favorite, of course).
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (OAV) Excellent
A fitting ending to this series, with some good battles all in the name of peace (Nice try, pacifism peeps).
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (TV) Very good
This show is pretty tight, I love it that Char is a main character AND a good guy. It shows that people aren't inherently good or evil, it's their actions that define them. "Camille is a man's name! I'm a maaaaan!"
My Little Monster (TV) Very good
A fun romantic comedy from start to finish. Though I would have liked another season of it...
My Neighbor Totoro (movie)
I last saw it when I was a kid, so I don't actually remember much about it beyond how awesome I found it.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (movie) Masterpiece
It's a classic, and I find the story both heartwarming and entertaining. Check it out!
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Excellent
I'm not as obsessed as everyone else, but occasionally I too need my Evangelion fixes. It's intense, so be prepared to have your mind fucked. Especially towards the end.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (movie)
I'm still not sure what I watched.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion (movie)
See above.
Nichijou - My Ordinary Life (TV) Very good
This show feels slow at the beginning, but it certainly grows on you. One of the more random animes I've seen in a long time. I also like the music.
No. 6 (TV) Very good
The story started strong, but after a while, the details began to get fuzzy and the plot didn't really make as much sense as I like it to. The character development was pretty interesting though. This show isn't for everyone, but it is likely a decent watch for chicks. (Some yaoi stuff, more than the usual anime is willing to explore)
Oreimo (TV) Very good
I had my reservations that this show could go above and beyond simply being fanservice and luckily I was pleasantly surprised. Worth a watch by anyone who knows what they're talking about.
Ouran High School Host Club (TV) Excellent
This show is amazing! Absolutely hilarious, with great characters. Everybody who walked in on me watching it at first complained about how gay it seemed, then they began cracking up from the insanity of the Host Club's antics. Personal favorite.
Outlaw Star (TV) Very good
A classic for me, one of those anime that I grew up with on Toonami, except that I never got to finish this series as a child, I saw it later in my teen years. I re-watch this series occasionally because it's funny and always entertaining. The characters blend together well to form a good team, and some characters have very honorable traits. (Self-sacrifice) As for the plot, I like the way it flows, having little detours along their journey, though there's always a clear goal to look forward to. Check it out.
Paranoia Agent (TV) Excellent
I find this one very interesting, plots don't get much more unique than the one Paranoia Agent has. The greatest plus side to this show is that they have such a symbolic antagonist, "Little Slugger" (a great Halloween costume BTW) his few characteristics are stressed to the point that they're his only characteristics. A baseball hat, a bent golden bat, gold roller blades, and a terrifying smile. My favorite episode is the one where a kid is ostracized from his friends because he looks so much like "Little Slugger". The actual greatest piece of this anime is the soundtrack by Susumu Hirasawa. Plus, if you're a fan of Perfect Blue, you should note that this series and that movie share a common director. Check it out yourself.
Perfect Blue (movie) Masterpiece
OH MY GOD! Did somebody just say MINDFUCK? I wouldn't know, because that's what happens when you watch this amazing movie. I don't know what to say beyond, WATCH IT. Personal favorite.
Please Twins! (TV)
Pokémon (TV) Good
Digimon's story is better IMO, but Pokemon wins points for endurance, and all around decency. As an adult, I have no shame in re-watching some of the more dramatic scenes in the series. Like the Charmander episode.
Princess Mononoke (movie) Masterpiece
First anime movie I'd ever seen, still a classic in my book, I re-watch it often, and will continue to do so 'til the end of time. Personal favorite.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (TV)
R.O.D -The TV- Good
... The show starts out alright, showing some new characters and building relationships between them all. It also shows some old characters and explains a little bit about what happened after the OAV. I enjoyed the first half of the show. But in the second half, it goes downhill, with a lot of homoerotic tension in the air between the main characters (which I can deal with in small portions), the antagonists have overly unbelievable powers, and the old characters that you didn't expect to see are... disappointing. Their entire personalities have been changed, and YES the voices of the characters aren't the same, IT FUCKING BOTHERS ME. All around the show is disappointing, but still a decent show by itself.
Read or Die (OAV) Excellent
I love this OAV, and was stoked when I finally found a copy of it after watching it several times of Adult Swim. It's funny, action packed, has VERY interesting antagonists, badass protagonists, and Ode to Joy is used as much as I like to hear it. A lot. Personal favorite.
Resident Evil: Degeneration (movie)
Meh. Don't remember anything important from when I watched it. I'll see it again to give it a rating, but I doubt I'll be impressed.
Rideback (TV) Excellent
A reminder of why I need a motorcycle: To ride around to the intro song! Started and finished it in one night, a short twelve episode series that was everything it needed to be. (Except that the main character didn't do as much as I was wanting her to do, and her friend was a jackass.) Check it out.
S-CRY-ed (TV) Very good
I enjoyed this series, then like most any RPG I play, just at the final boss I stopped and left it alone. After about half a year I finally picked it up again and was bored by the ending, could have been much better. I distinctly remember obsessing over this when it was on Adult Swim, but it kind of flopped story-wise towards the end.
Sailor Moon (TV) Good
It's Sailor Moon, I don't need to say anything.
Samurai 7 (TV) Excellent
I started this one assuming it was overly hyped and was just going to be unnecessarily dramatic and kind of boring, but I was entertained by the story from start to finish. It definitely makes me want to look into the original movie, something I never even considered doing before. The death of characters in this show is dramatic and rightfully so. One of those animes I finished in 24 hours, check it out.
Samurai Champloo (TV) Excellent
Excellent anime for the episodic fans. The characters have a lot of fun battles along their vague journey to find a some guy Fuu knows. Yet the lack of depth within the story at the beginning of the series doesn't bother me, because the characters are so enjoyable, they are what pull me to the next episode. Also has a pretty unique soundtrack. Check it out.
Sgt. Frog (TV) Excellent
Sgt. Frog (or Sergeant Keroro) is awesome. It's basically the anime equivalent to Invader Zim. I watched this series before watching Gundam, but still understood some of the references and in fact finally did watch Gundam BECAUSE of this series. The narrator is the greatest character of all time.
Shakugan no Shana (TV) Very good
Very fun show, worth the watch. I'll also be sure to check out the other seasons.
Skip Beat! (TV)
Speed Grapher (TV) Good
Overrated, but not too bad. It seems like they've made an anime depicting every hobby as something "badass", though I was pretty unimpressed by the powers obtained by the people in this show. The coolest one was the antagonist who could manipulate his own blood and perform countless tricks with it.
Spice and Wolf (TV) Excellent
A calm laid back show where we enjoy the romantic tension between Lawrence and Holo (or Horo, whatever) and witness the many business tricks they pull off to fund their journey North. Enjoyable, a nice change of pace from other anime.
Spiral (TV) Good
I saw the first episode when I was in middle school and obsessed over the thought of finishing it, but never had the resources to purchase it. Once I finally got a copy I was extremely disappointed. I assumed that it was going to be a mystery thanks to the wonderful Sherlock Holmes bit in the first episode, but it's more like a random bit of mind puzzles/games kind of thing. Biggest disappointment: THE SERIES WAS POINTLESS. NOTHING MAJOR HAPPENED beyond the main character "deciding" to help out some people. Pissed.
Spirited Away (movie) Excellent
Great story, fun animation, and beautiful ending. Check it out.
Steins;Gate (TV) Masterpiece
Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie Good
Um... I liked it alright. Yeah...
Supernatural: The Anime Series (OAV)
Tales from Earthsea (movie) Good
Lacks the depth of story I need to pay attention to the characters. I enjoyed the ending, but for some reason, this style of animation doesn't capture my attention.
Tenchi Muyo! (OAV 1/1992) Excellent
First anime series I'd ever watched, still a favorite. The diverse array of girls are a joy to watch, as they all try to capture Tenchi's attention. Tenchi is admirable, always standing up against those that would do harm to these girls, and the sword he carries is one of my favorites from these kinds of shows. A great romantic comedy, that will make you laugh, and grow tense when something serious happens. Personal favorite.
Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki (OAV 2/1994) Excellent
See above.
Tenchi Muyo! The Night Before The Carnival (OAV) Excellent
See above.
Tenchi Universe (TV) Very good
This series is awesome up until they head into space, then the jokes are lazy and boring, and the story seems either too slow or rushed. Pacing is important to me. I still consider it awesome due to the first half though.
Time of Eve (ONA) Masterpiece
There's something truly amazing about a short, 6 episode series that you could potentially watch at any time, not being restricted by a busy schedule. This show makes you want to go somewhere public and strike up conversations with random people. It's great watching this with friends, because conversations WILL happen once an episode finishes. The only real problem this show had was that the dialogue seemed fast pace, like they had a lot to say and not enough time to say it. Personal favorite.
Tokyo Majin (TV) Very good
Another one of those "I've got amazing super powers, but I choose not to use them, because I might accidentally hurt someone. (Worst of all, my enemy!)" type of anime. It has its plus sides, showing tasteful scenes of the friendship that comes from a small group of teenagers acquiring powers for no apparent reason. It's nice that most of the battles can get pretty extreme, this show still has its good points beyond it's cliche plot.
Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho: Tou 2nd Act (TV) Very good
See above. (And also, it had a pretty decent ending.)
Toradora! (TV) Excellent
This show has a wonderful premise, with some great characters too. The opening statements of the first episode made me feel for the main characters immediately. And unlike other romantic comedy animes, the series doesn't end with you feeling unsatisfied. Exellent.
Trigun (TV) Excellent
One of the few overly hyped animes from this time that I actually have respect for, Trigun partakes in that classic subject of whether or not it is right to kill someone. They answer NO, but it's clear that this world isn't ideal. Vash the Stampede is a favorite character of mine because he's funny/quirky, but it's merely a show for those around him. His dedication to his cause is refreshing. Definitely check this one out.
Umineko - When They Cry (TV) Decent
When I started watching this, I thought that it was going to be similar to Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None", where Battler has to solve the murders without magic as an explanation. But then as the show progressed it became clear that there wasn't going to be any true answers to the murders. The focus of the show was on the magic, so it was pretty boring. The first half of the series was decent, and interesting. But as the show began winding down there began to be scenes that had nothing to do with the murders, or what it took to solve them. I HATED the ending because they leave you hanging without any answers to any of your questions. No.
Vampire Hunter D (OAV) Weak
Ew, this anime was such a waste of time. I was told to check out Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, and figured I'd start with the first of the series. I'm surprised that this had such a following, that it should get a sequel. Needless to say, I'm less than optimistic about watching the sequel, this one had bad dialogue, boring visuals, and a bit of a retarded plot. MEH.
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (movie) Very good
A vast improvement over the original OVA, this movie actually keeps you interested in the characters and their back-stories and doesn't rely on fanservice as cheap filler. Few complaints that I'll quell since they're only there because I'm still pissed off about the original OVA.
Voices of a Distant Star (OAV)
Welcome to the NHK (TV) Masterpiece
Unique anime that flows from one episode to the next easily. This is one of those series that I finished within 24 hours, so as you can infer, it is a show that is well worth watching. Great characters, hilarious plot. Check it out.
When They Cry - Higurashi (TV) Masterpiece
Wow. Personal favorite.
Witch Hunter Robin (TV) Good
Ugh, so fucking slow and uneventful. I couldn't stand the pace of this show, overly hyped.
Wolf's Rain (TV) Excellent
Depressing (though solid) ending. Kind of slow though.
Wolf's Rain (OAV) Excellent
See above.
(The) World God Only Knows (TV) Masterpiece
Amazing. The intro gets you pumped and then you witness one of the most well made animes of all time. Seriously though, I'm obsessed with the intro song. Personal favorite.
(The) World God Only Knows Season Two (TV) Masterpiece
See above.
(The) World God Only Knows: Four Girls and an Idol (OAV) Good
Kind of slow, it could have used some amazing music from the series to get us pumped. It seemed very bare and short. More like a preview of an episode rather than a full story.
Yu-Gi-Oh! (TV 2/2000) Decent
Oddly addictive. Retarded though.
Zombie-Loan (TV) Good
Sounded really interesting, started out a little slow/uneventful. Got pretty decent mid series, and I actually began enjoying myself towards the end of the series. Then it started a more promising story arc which closed the series making you hate yourself for watching an anime that you knew wouldn't have a suitable ending for you, whom needs closure to be satisfied. I'm not reading the manga. You can't make me.
Zone of the Enders (TV) So-so
... Had to struggle just to finish it, watching it off and on for a year straight. Once it was over, I was glad to be done with it. Zone of the Enders - The Fist of Mars is a great game, but this TV show was garbage. Although, I will admit that the ending was a bit better than I'd expected when compared to the rest of the show.
