Akira (movie) Masterpiece A masterpiece beyound words. So excellent and detailed for an 80s movie that you'll want to watch it more than twice due to the appeal of characters, landscape and music.
(The) Big O (TV) Masterpiece If Paul Dini and Bruce Timm were hired to make an anime it would be something like this.
Case Closed: Countdown to Heaven (movie) Masterpiece Best of the Detective Conan film by far. Why cause Gin & Vodka are involved in the plot, those two always make always make thing exciting in any situation.
Castle in the Sky (movie) Masterpiece A magnificent movie with excellent characters and an amazing story. Plus the robots from the final episode of Lupin III part 2 are brought back as ancient robots in this movie.
Conan, the Boy in Future (TV) Masterpiece The best Miyazaki TV series ever made. This is proof that he was a genius in story telling way before he entered the movie business. Every fan of Miyazaki should recognize this TV series.
FLCL (OAV) Masterpiece Regarded to be the best OAV of all time. Which I can agree cause there's few anime that actually can be comparable to this one despite there being other that are as random as this one. No the less it's an OAV all anime fans need to see if they want a good laugh.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (TV) Masterpiece For those who didn't liked the first series and wanted a remake that's truer to the manga will be rejoiced with this series. Cause you won't find a better adaption than this one.
Ghost in the Shell (movie) Masterpiece A cyborg movie every anime fan has to see. The story and characters are what made this movie an all time classic.
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (movie) Masterpiece This sequal focuses on Batou who was assigned to solve a case with Torugawa. The parade scene is one of the best scenes of the movie.
Golgo 13: The Professional (movie) Masterpiece The first anime to include CGI.
Hellsing Ultimate (OAV) Masterpiece Makes the tv series inferior as this high quality OAV is so detailed and truer to the manga that those who dislike the ending of the tv series will be glad to see it being re-done like never before.
Howl's Moving Castle (movie) Masterpiece Nothing like the book, but since it's a Miyazaki directed film, that doesn't matter.
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (movie) Masterpiece Miyazaki's first debut as director, and he did an excellent job with the second Lupin movie htat's more appealing than the previous one. While not a classic at first in it's original release it gain a better reputation decades later. Plus it's perfect for anyone who wants to start watching Lupin.
Moyashimon (TV) Masterpiece A must see Agriculture related anime, the characters are great to know and it never gets dull.
My Neighbor Totoro (movie) Masterpiece One of the first anime films I watched as a kid, it's a feel good movie that'll appeal anyone of all ages. Makes average family films look boring.
My Neighbors the Yamadas (movie) Masterpiece Isao Takahata's best film, the Yamadas are the Family Circle of Japan.
Nadia - The Secret of Blue Water (TV) Masterpiece See where Disney's Atlantis got it's inspiration from.
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (movie) Masterpiece Miyazaki's first successful film, a must see for all Ghibli fans cause this is the film that started the company.
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Masterpiece A lively mecha anime that has plenty of drama to witness and characters to either like or feel pity towards them.
One Piece (TV) Masterpiece The greatest pirate anime out there.
Paranoia Agent (TV) Masterpiece What do you get if a highly acclaim director directs his own TV series. Well a TV series that completely stands out more than the ones on TV. Paranoia Agent is one amazing mystery/suspence anime. Sadly it was the only TV series that Satoshi Kon ever made. As he probably would of made another one.
Patlabor: The Movie Masterpiece
Porco Rosso (movie) Masterpiece
Princess Mononoke (movie) Masterpiece
Robot Carnival (OAV) Masterpiece Out of all of the segment OAVs I've seen so far. This is by far the greatest segment anime ever made. You deserve to watch this OAV cause you won't find another better than this one.
Space Pirate Captain Harlock (TV) Masterpiece
Spirited Away (movie) Masterpiece
Summer Wars (movie) Masterpiece
Tekkonkinkreet (movie) Masterpiece
Whisper of the Heart (movie) Masterpiece A true feel good movie the whole family will enjoy. The cast of characters are wonderful to know.
009-1 (TV) Excellent I love the story and the heroine for this anime. Not to mention the character designs remain true to Ishimori's art style. Those who love Cyborg 009, might like this one as well.
Afro Samurai (TV) Excellent Something that Samurai and Samual L. Jackson fans will approve of.
Afro Samurai: Resurrection (movie) Excellent Everything you'd expect from a sequal to the mini series, bigger action, larger explosions, and more characters to witness.
Air Gear (TV) Excellent A fun anime with fan service, gangs, and rollerblades. Even if you aren't into roller blades, the story is what is worth checking out here.
Air Master (TV) Excellent If you're looking for an action anime that has cat fights, hot women, and parodies to other action anime. Then this is your kind of anime to watch.
Animal Treasure Island (movie) Excellent This anime version of Treasure Island may seem average, but the story and cast of characters is what made this movie so memorible. It's something kids would watch no matter what year it is.
(The) Animatrix (OAV) Excellent A real treat for the Matrix fans. Also worth checking out even if you're not crazy on the Matrix.
Appleseed (movie) Excellent A CGI remake of the OVA, only with a deeper understanding of the city they live in where it's an alternate future where humans co-exsist with these bio-beings who express no emotions because emotions are the cause of the troubles in our world.
Appleseed: Ex Machina (movie) Excellent Yes it was produced by John Woo and he improvised some of the ideas of this movie, but that didn't mean it was awful to watch. Cause I found the story to this sequal to be satisfying in most ways.
Baccano! (TV) Excellent The best Great Depression Era anime you'll ever witness. In the form of Pulp Fiction, the beginning, middle, and ending aren't in the same chronical order. So the first time you watch it you'd have to paste together the plot and side stories. it makes a lot of sense the second time you watch it.
Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts OVA Excellent A funny OAV especially the bit on crossdressing.
Batman: Gotham Knight (movie) Excellent The first Batman anime of any kind. My favorite favorite thing about this movie is that the "Man in Black" is the only villian in this movie to not originate from the comics. Though he does have the striking appearance of Firefly.
Beast Wars: Transformers (U.S. TV) Excellent Best incarnation of Transformers that is appealing towards old and new fans. Even if you never seen the original cartoon, you're able to get into this series right away with episode 1.
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad (TV) Excellent An inspirational Rock Band story where the music is great and the guitarist goes through a lot of hard knots to have a career in music.
Black Cat (TV) Excellent An exciting action anime about a hitman name Train who change the way he lives after encountering a woman he hardly knew. Him along with some other unlikely companions travel together while being on the run from the Organization that Train use to work for.
Black Lagoon (TV) Excellent A regular office suit gets mixed up in a raid by South pacific pirates who at first took him hostage, except after spending time with them he decides to join them. At first they think he's not suited to be part of their crew but soon they find him to be useful. Throughout the series they do some really dangerous jobs and running into other pirates, terrorists, and criminals. Never a dull moment in this series. Plus Revy is like an anime version of Lara Croft.
Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage (TV) Excellent If you like Season 1, you'll love season 2 as well. More characters to encounter and more development between Revy and Rock.
Blue Submarine No.6 (OAV) Excellent For only four episodes, this OVA did pull off a good story about humans having a war against these genetic fish humanoids who want to be the superior species on Earth as it takes place in an alter future where the ice caps have melted and man kind has managed to live their lives despite the higher water level.
Broken Down Film (movie) Excellent One of the funniest Tezuka short films. I love the idea of how it pokes fun to the old style animation from the early part of 20th Century America. They did a great joke making it look old with dust and scratches added to make it look broken down. The characters even interact with the errors that occured in this short.
Cannon Fodder (movie) Excellent Katsuhiro did a great job making this segment of Memories stand out the most. I found it amazing that he was able to make this without any cut scenes all.
