| After reading Rebecca Silverman's review of the first volume of the manga (https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/assassination-classroom/gn-1/.82797) I was interested in the concept of the series, so I watched this special. Having basically zero knowledge on Assassination Classroom if not from what I read in the review, I was confused at the beginning because many characters were introduced not going into detail on most of them and many details and past events were referenced with minimum context.
I enjoyed the comedy and light-hearted moments with the teacher and his students and the premise is still fascinating.
Maybe I should have watched it after reading a few chapters of the manga, so that I would have enjoyed it more. |

| Berserk is amazing, but this movie can be very confusing if the viewer hasn't read the manga or hasn't been exposed to the story beforehand.
The background music is really good and the mix of 3D and 2D animation - 2D for most of the dialogue scenes and 3D for the major combat/battle scenes - I found it well implemented although it was too frequent, which could get a little distracting. |

| It is a more faithful retelling of the fight between Ichigo and the Hollow that killed his mother. The anime added some things that were not present in the original story, such as a new Shinigami.
The eerie, creepy music of the series here works particularly well and strengthens an aura of death, fear and anxiety; all emotions that I felt Ichigo was going through during this encounter. In a few frames I noticed some ugly faces in a few close-ups, but overall the animations were good. I really liked this OAV. |

| Compared to the first OAV, Memories in the Rain, this was a bit of a let-down. It is entertaining, but it is nothing new and pretty much standard shonen-fare (the fight of a strong, big enemy). Still, the idea of a sword coming to life in the form of a uncontrollable, powerful individual is interesting. It could have been a lonely spirit who wanted to be noticed or to be claimed by somebody, fighting loneliness and abandonment by causing ruckus. I may be wrong because it has been a while since I first watched it and I probably don't remember the details, but this feeling kept up with me after watching it. It was OK for me, I don't think I would watch it again. |

| At first I thought it was just another action-shonen series but as I watched episode after episode it has really grown on me. Animation and music are quite good, the fights are flashy, the plot is interesting and the (Japanese) voice work is pleasant. But the thing that I absolutely adore is the use of religious mythology as part of the lore. From my limited knowledge of religious literature in general, I really enjoyed all the stories they could tell.
Execution is indeed the most important aspect of the series, as it doesn't do anything new but it is done really really well in almost all aspects. I even enjoyed some of the filler episodes! |

| Compared to The Second Raid this OAV is the complete opposite: here we have some of the humor that made Fumoffu! such a hit, when TSR is darker and heavy on emotions. As Tessa tries to discover what happened after a night when she was tricked into taking a drink from Melissa, she encounters pretty much the entire cast of the Danaan having a peacful day, goofing around and relaxing in general. The scenes with Kalinin were as hilarious as the one right after the concusion of the first arc of the first series where Sousuke and Kaname were fleeing after they had taken some photocopies (the ingenuity and the "soldiery, out of place reactions" are basically the same). |

| It is more than just a short, sweet, lovely, little comedy series.
Episode 11 was genuinely touching for me, as it dealt with the girl's past, her fear of loneliness and a job that was stressing her and taking away joy to her life, leaving only misery. That made her husband much more of a powerfullly positive presence, finally letting her enjoy a new life and herself. |
