Air (TV) Weak This has an incredible amount of potential, but it is wasted because the writers obviously have no regard for their own characters.
Air (movie) Decent Much better than the TV series. A far more fulfilling conclusion to the series than the TV show. Still suffers from a lot of the same problems, though.
Alien Nine (special) Excellent Extremely good. Excellent characters, a unique style, and an engrossing, off-kilter story. Unfortunately, it is only 4 episodes long, and only manages to cover about 1/3rd of the manga.
Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro-chan (TV) Very good Incredibly hilarious. Until the last episode, which is a refugee from another, serious show or something.
Boogiepop Phantom (TV) Excellent Very, very dark and interesting series. Certainly not for everyone, but highly rewarding if you can get through it. Superb art and composition.
Clannad After Story (TV) Masterpiece
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (TV) Masterpiece The best anime ever.
Cowboy Bebop (TV) Very good I don't really need to say anything. The quintessential anime. It's all right, but I don't see why it's as popular as it is.
D.C. ~Da Capo~ (TV) Excellent Excellent. Amazing characters, art, and drama. Great directing too, even though the experimental sections were a bit out of place compared with the rest. Incredible music and use of it, in addition.
Di Gi Charat (TV) Good Very funny. It's been quite a while since I watched it, so I can't say much else.
Disgaea (TV) Bad Lame. Play the game instead.
Elfen Lied (TV) Very good Interesting show, with copious amounts of violence and a very interesting overall feel. Still, it's a bit overrated.
Eureka Seven (TV) Masterpiece My personal favorite series. Excellent characters, plot, animation, music, and overall story. Don't let the mecha genre turn you off from this one.
Excel Saga (TV) Excellent The best comedy anime ever. Every episode is a complete classic.
(The) Familiar of Zero (TV) Excellent Great all around, but it has a total non-ending. That's what happens when you adapt light novels into anime, though, I guess. Fortunately, there's a second season!
Fate/stay night (TV) Decent Fails to provide an accurate depiction of events in the game. Additionally, it misrepresents the characters to a large extent and lacks the elegance and power of the game. Decent enough if you don't plan to play the game, I suppose.
Figure 17 (TV) Excellent Very slow-paced, but highly engrossing. It's been a while since I've watched it.
Final Approach (TV) Excellent Awesome show! A great fusion of comedy and drama. Although the final episode makes for a pretty bad ending, I feel that it's more of a side episode in the scheme of things. Looking at it from the perspective of 12 being the real ending, I think the ending is excellent. Anyway, a really offbeat show. You'll either love it or hate it, I'm sure.
FLCL (OAV) Excellent Ah, yes, FLCL. A staple. I don't need to say much.
Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight! (TV) Masterpiece Simply wonderful. Some of the best characters and development ever, along with a touching plotline. Incredible direction, art design, and music enhance the experience, as well. Also possesses perhaps the best ending of any show I've ever seen.
Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo (TV) Excellent Extremely, extremely, extremely good. Definitely has the best art and animation of any series I've ever seen.
Gift - eternal rainbow (TV) Excellent Excellent series that is slightly brought down by a lack of character development for less major characters and a dry spell in the middle. Great ending.
Gravitation (TV) Good Surprisingly decent.
Gunbuster (OAV) Very good A classic, to say the least. I'm not sure how well it's aged, but it's still a great show... However, the fact that it's an OAV brings it down some - there's simply not enough character development going on, and a lot of thematic elements are not elaborated on. Still very worth the watch, though.
Gunbuster 2: Diebuster (OAV) Masterpiece Ah, now this is a fantastic series. It manages to do an incredible amount with its six episodes - I can't really complain about anything lacking due to time, because it manages to cover everything important. Awesome character development, especially for such a short show. The plot itself is fantastic, the directing is flawless, and the art and animation are jaw-dropping. Although it drags slightly in the first part of the series, I can think of no other complaints. Truly a must-watch - if only for the ending alone, which can only be described as transcendental. Make sure to watch the first Gunbuster beforehand, though.
Gurren Lagann (TV) Excellent Pure burning spirit and GAR until the end, which ruins it all.
Haibane Renmei (TV) Excellent Another classic of the genre - even non-anime fans like this. Again, I don't need to explain.
Haré+Guu (TV) Excellent Probably the second-best comedy series of all time. Excellent characters.
Haré+Guu Deluxe (OAV) Excellent The best Guu series overall.
Infinite Ryvius (TV) Excellent Perfect until the ending.
Jubei-Chan 2: The Counterattack of Siberia Yagyu (TV) Very good Basically the first season with some marked improvements. Has some of the most ridiculous fight scenes ever.
Jubei-Chan The Ninja Girl - Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch (TV) Very good Great series. Similar to Nanoha in a way... Great music, art, characters, and fight scenes.
Jungle Wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Guu Final (OAV) Excellent Not as good as Deluxe, but better than the original and has THE RPG EPISODE.
Kanon (TV 2/2006) Excellent One of the most beautiful-looking shows I've ever seen. Excellent directing the entire way through, even if some subplots drag on. Despite all of its flaws, many of which are a problem of the source material and Key's writing, it manages to shine through in the end. The ending manages to go above and beyond what I expected of it, as well, and provide a fulfilling conclusion to the series. Highly recommended.
Lamune (TV) Excellent A slow moving series that, nonetheless, has a deliberate flow. Very likable and well-done characters. The high point of the show is definitely the ending - it is clearly powerful and undeniably moving. The slow deliberateness leading up to it is extremely well-done, as well. An understated, perhaps even... quietly beautiful series that showcases some wonderful drama. The first half is mostly light fluff, but it serves as a good way to introduce the characters... I suppose every renai game adaptation does this. All in all, an excellent, excellent watch.
Loveless (TV) Good Excellent art, interesting theme and story, and pretty good characters.
Lucky Star (TV) Excellent http://www.tsukuru.info/b/2007/09/18/lucky-star-in-review/
Lunar Legend Tsukihime (TV) Decent Decent when I saw it, but now that I've played the game, I realize what a butchery it is.
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (TV) Excellent The first five episodes are very average and generic; however, after episode 6, it becomes extremely, extremely good. Highly recommended, if only so you can watch the sequel...
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's (TV) Masterpiece Incredible. The first series is excellent, but this series is fantastic. No drawn-out intro, more action, more characters, better character development, better art and animation, and a more interesting story overall. A must-see.
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) Very good It's a decent enough show, even if the characters ARE horribly one-dimensional. Well, except Kyon. He's cool.
Murder Princess (OAV) Very good http://www.tsukuru.info/b/2007/09/24/murder-princess/
Mushi-Uta (TV) Very good Starts off slow, but builds up well and has a great ending. Excellent soundtrack.
My Bride is a Mermaid (TV) Excellent The best romantic comedy out there. GONZO's best show. Amazing ending.
My-HiME (TV) Masterpiece An amazing show. It was the first fansub I ever watched, and it still remains one of my all-time favorite series. Outstanding in every area - this one is a must-watch.
My-Otome (TV) So-so Very enjoyable, but quite a let-down after the greatness of Mai HiME.
My-Otome Zwei (OAV) Good Better than Otome!
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Excellent I do like Evangelion, but opinions on the internet are highly polarized about it. I'll just go with the fact that I like it.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion (movie) Excellent Excellent conclusion to a great series.
Ninja Nonsense (TV) Very good Very funny. Wouldn't be notable without Onsokumaru.
Noein - to your other self (TV) Excellent I'm not sure what to say. But. It was good.
Otoboku - Maidens Are Falling for Me! (TV) Very good Weak ending, but I really enjoyed the show. Nice directing and art/animation.
Outlaw Star (TV) Good Toonami, except this show is good.
Pani Poni Dash! (TV) Excellent Yeah, forget Excel Saga. This is the best comedy series. Utterly insane otaku humor at crazy high speeds. More references and cameos than you can shake a stick at. Awesome art. Hilarious characters. This show rules.
Paranoia Agent (TV) Very good Interesting style, narrative, and characters. Great music, too.
Rozen Maiden (TV) Excellent Pretty damn awesome actually. Great characters and animation.
Rozen Maiden: Träumend (TV) Masterpiece Even better than the first season! We need a third season, right now.
Rumbling Hearts (TV) Excellent Rumbling Hearts is a gay name, but this show rules.
School Days (TV) Excellent I wish I knew what to say about this.
Scrapped Princess (TV) Excellent Awesome. Hooks you in the first half with very engaging characters, then tells a very interesting sci-fi/fantasy story in the second half. There's a slight dip in quality a little after the halfway point, and there are some hackneyed plot points/devices, but overall, a very strong show. Excellent ending.
Serial Experiments Lain (TV) Excellent The show that got me into anime. I'll always have a soft spot for this one, even if it's nowhere near some other shows.
Shakugan no Shana (TV) Decent It's pretty all right. Silly ending.
She, The Ultimate Weapon (TV) Decent What the hell. It's way overdone, but the scenes themselves are well-made. The ending is surprisingly upbeat...?
Sola (TV) Excellent Incredible series, mediocre ending. Great characters. Very very nice aesthetics throughout the entire run. Beautiful music too.
Speed Grapher (TV) Excellent An engrossing plot and interesting characters. The ending is very good.
Strain: Strategic Armored Infantry (TV) Good Definitely has its ups and downs. Pretty interesting overall, with some very cool scenes here and there. Is brought down a bit by a few really terrible episodes, but the rest makes up for it. A surprisingly good ending.
_Summer (OAV) Good It has no plot or ending, but the characters are likable and it's pretty fun to watch.
Triangle Heart: Sweet Songs Forever (OAV) Very good Surprisingly good. Based on a series of games (the same series that Nanoha is based on), so there's obviously going to be a good deal of loose ends and inconsequential characters. For what it is, though, it's very good. Very stylish.
Tsuki wa Higashi ni Hi wa Nishi ni - Operation Sanctuary (TV) Very good Wow, uh, this is surprisingly good. Unexpected and fulfilling ending combined with neat characters makes for a neat little show. Could use a bit more exposition, though, but it's only 12 half-length episodes, so... Probably the second-best of the half-length episode eroge adaptations, after Final Approach and above W-Wish.
Utawarerumono (TV) Decent So much potential, but it was all wasted.
When They Cry - Higurashi (TV) Excellent Incredibly, incredibly interesting. Awesome gore scenes. It doesn't follow the games very closely, though, and the art is bad.
W~Wish (TV) Good Really interesting premise. The characters were a bit annoying and the shortness of the episodes made it kind of disjointed, but that was all made up for by how mind-expanding the second half was. Thought-provoking, at least.
