There are quite a few great shows that are unseen by the anime community; however, I am not just referring to anime with small fan-bases or a lack of popularity. For example, Mushi-shi will never have as big of a fanbase as Sword Art Online, but it is also one of the most universally acclaimed anime out there. Anime fans know the show exist and they love it; hence, it does not belong on this list. I am not referring to anime that are merely old or inaccessible. That is what my “Classics” list is for. Lastly, I tried to avoid shows that enjoyed popularity once upon a time, but has since fell into obscurity. Such shows haven’t aged well and probably shouldn’t be recommended to newer anime fans today. This is a list of hidden gems that could be enjoyed no matter what the decade. Good shows that aren’t necessarily critically acclaimed because twenty people have watched them. All of the shows on this list I’ve rated “Good” or better and have less than 1000 user ratings on this website.
