| Alien Nine (special) | Excellent (dub & sub) | The show's greatest strength is the overwhelming sense of unease. Even in the happier scenes, there's always a sense of something wrong beneath the surface. |

| Starship Girl Yamamoto Yohko (OAV) | Decent | Above-average fluff. Yohko herself is an awesome character--strong, crafty, sarcastic. Anime needs more heroines like her. |

| Fullmetal Alchemist (TV) | Very good | An all-time favorite, though the manga is better. |
| Black Jack (OAV) | Excellent | An all-time favorite. I love the dub too, questionable dialouge changes and all. |

| Black Jack 21 (TV) | Good | Black Jack meets The Fugitive meets an 8th-grader's fanfic. Ridiculous even by this franchise's standards, but never boring. |
| Black Jack: The Two Doctors Of Darkness (movie) | So-so | Blah. At least Kiriko was in it, so it wasn't a total loss. |
| Shuffle! (TV) | So-so | Bland most of the time, but surprisingly compelling in parts. May watch again. |
| Call Me Tonight (OAV) | Decent | Cheerful 80's-era spoof of tentacle porn. |
| Genius Party (movie) | Decent | Confusing but fun. The art style reminds me of The Maxx. |
| Mighty Orbots (U.S. TV) | Decent | Creative, colorful, shockingly well-animated Saturday morning goodness. |

| Dracula: Sovereign Of The Damned (special) | Decent | Even sillier than Garzey's Wing, though not as quotable. |
| Pom Poko (movie) | Good | Great visuals, fun story, and memorable scenes (Two words: "Operation Specter") on one hand. Preachiness and flat characters on the other. (BTW, it's a treat hearing Maurice LaMarche narrate in his "Brain" voice.) |
| (The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) | Very good | Hated the first three episodes. Got hooked by episode 4, and by the time the band started playing "God Knows" in ep 14 I didn't want it to end. |
| Angel Densetsu (OAV) | Very good | Hilarious OAV about not judging a book by its cover. |
| Garzey's Wing (OAV) | Decent | Hilariously bad! Any fan of unintentional humor should see this at least once. |
| Fumoon (movie) | Decent | Hokey yet strangely riveting old Tezuka special. |
| Cowboy Bebop (TV) | Excellent | I like it, respect it, but didn't relate to it either. Will rewatch eventually. |
| Natsume's Book of Friends (TV) | Good | I like to think of it as XXXHolic's more sophisticated, laid-back cousin. |
| Dr. Pinoko no Mori no Bōken (movie) | So-so | Isn't this the kind of thing Lemony Snicket warned us about? |
| Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (TV) | Not really good | Kinda boring, actually. |
| Grrl Power (OAV) | Decent | Kinda preachy toward the end, but mostly amusing. The cheerleading scene is a riot. |
| Black Jack The Movie | So-so (sub), Excellent (dub) | Like the OAV, only with higher production values and less love-interest BS. A rare case of the English dub having the better acting. |
| XxxHOLiC the Movie: A Midsummer Night's Dream | Good | More of Yuuko and Co. doing their thang. Forgettable plot but some cool dream-like imagery. |
| California Crisis: Gun Salvo (OAV) | Decent | Nifty art style, unique setting and...that's all there is to it really. |
| Superflat Monogram (movie) | Not really good | Not bad for a commercial. |
| Project A-Ko (movie) | Good | Not the funniest thing ever, but I love the quirkiness. |
| Oruchuban Ebichu (TV) | Very good | One of the funniest anime I've ever seen (NSFW, though). The Ebichuman episodes are solid gold. |
| XXXHOLiC (TV) | Good | Quirky and relaxing (when it's not being spooky), with excellent character chemistry. |
| Tokyo Godfathers (movie) | Excellent | Satoshi Kon's most straightforward film, and a personal favorite. My brother and I watch it every December. |
| TO-Y (OAV) | Good | The music was the best part. Why is there a catgirl? |
| Hellsing (TV) | Decent | The plot is mediocre (especially toward the end), and Alucard is a God Mode Sue. But the chemistry between the 4 leads is a joy to watch, and lifts the series beyond the sum of its parts. |
| Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (movie) | Very good | The yang to Princess Mononoke's yin. While PM is more sophisticated, I like Nausicaa more. It has a raw immediacy that its successor lacks. |
| Princess Mononoke (movie) | Good | The yin to Nausicaa's yang. Not a personal favorite, but undeniably impressive. |
| Air (movie) | Not really good | There are three problems with this movie. (1) Like most films based on TV shows, the plot is rushed and many of the best characters and subplots were cut out. (2) Osamu Dezaki was the wrong guy to direct this. His bombastic approach just doesn't go with such a tender story. (3) The ending is contrived. The characters all acted like idiots for the sole purpose of making that ending happen. |
| Yu-Gi-Oh! (TV 1/1998) | So-so | Thought it was awesome back in junior high, but that might've just been my crush on Anzu. |
| Cipher (OAV) | So-so | Unusual, in that it was recorded entirely in English. Don't miss the behind-the-scenes featurette after the credits. |
