Red Claw's Anime

So, this is how I spend my time when I'm not working/sleeping/being forced to socialize. I started off your typical action DBZ fanboy but after watching Death Note for the first time I really got into anime. From there Fullmetal Alchemist and Code Geass really solidified me as an anime fan. You'll probably notice that most are rated pretty positively. That's because I generally either only watch ones I've heard good things about or ones that full into my preferences, also I look for the positives in everything I watch and try to focus more on them. Though, for some shows that's quite hard. I like comedies, actions, slice of life's, romantic comedies, thrillers, horrors, fantasies, etc. Hell, somewhere down the line I fell for the "cute girls doing cute things" sub-gengre of slice of life (damn you K-On!!). My only real dislikes are plain romance, yaoi, and hentai. Romance without humour just plain bores me and yaoi doesn't interest me. Hentai... look, if you're into that stuff good for you. I just don't like it. I don't mind a bit of fanservice, though. Anyway here are the ones that I have watched. I'll be adding to this list as often as possible. I'll try to leave a comment/review on a show I've just watched too (just a simple pros/cons type of deal, usually with a quick summary).

Dusk maiden of Amnesia (TV) Good

Elfen Lied (TV) Weak (dub), Very good (sub) This show is the ultimate example of a horrible English dub ruining an otherwise great show. Pros: Fulfils my thirst for gore, good Japanese dub, Lucy/Nyu berserk switch, Diclonius are badarse, when the writers want you to hate a character they really make you hate that character. Cons: English dub, At first glance seems gratuitous to the point of trying too hard, "I can only say my name" trope early on for Nyu, kissing cousins really don't do it for me.
Elfen Lied (OAV) Good It's interesting to see Lucy's past, no English dub to ruin it.
Engaged to the Unidentified (TV) Very good
ERASED (TV) Excellent
Excel Saga (TV) Very good Pros: No genre is left un-parodied, "Hail Il Palazzo!", incredibly fast talking Excel, nearly every character gets a decent amount of screen time, poor Menchi, Nabeshin, gave birth to Puni-Puni Poemy. Cons: Nothing that springs to mind.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (OAV) Very good A collection of side stories. The first story is a side story through and through whereas the other three are more or less character backgrounds. We find out how Winry got her earrings, how teacher survived in the Briggs wilderness and eventually met her husband, how Mustang and Hughs became friends and another way the Ishvallen War scarred them. Absolutely a must see for FMA fans.
Fullmetal Alchemist: Premium Collection (OAV) Decent
Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa Excellent

Golden Time (TV) Very good
Green Green (TV) Decent I started watching this series because I read in reviews how awful it was (glutton for punishment). Going in I fully expected it to be nearly unwatchable. I was pleasantly surprised. While it definitely isn't what anyone would call a good show, it does have its moments thanks to the ultra-crass humour. Unfortunately, the good doesn't outweigh the bad. If you plan to watch I strongly recommend avoiding the incredibly bad English dub and remember that this show is not for everyone. Pros: Sophomoric humour, the perverted trio are good for a few laughs, good Japanese voice acting, some good character designs, some good fanservice. Cons: Weak plot, weak art, weak animation, lead character is the least interesting of the cast, ear-bleedingly-bad English dub.
Green Green Thirteen: Erolutions (OAV) So-so This is the sequel to Green Green. I think I broke my strict "no hentai" rule for this one but it's so softcore I don't think it counts. It's basically a 30min continuation set not long after the conclusion of the main series. Expect the same repulsively crass, sometimes slightly clever humour you've come to like or loathe and there's even a lil' bit of 2D lovin' thrown in for good measure. Enjoy... or don't, since it's still plagued with most of the negative points of the series.
GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka (TV) Very good
Guilty Crown (TV) Very good
Guin Saga (TV) Excellent
GUNxSWORD (TV) Very good

GYO: Tokyo Fish Attack (OAV) Good
.hack//SIGN (TV) Decent Pros: Intriguing concept and setting, good character designs, mood setting music, Mimiru and Sora. Cons: Painfully slow pace, doesn't pick up until the half way mark, some generic character personalities.

Haganai NEXT (TV) Very good
He Is My Master (TV) Good Pros: Pochie, strong (and perverted) male lead, simple-yet-effective art, very funny, good female lead. Cons: Moral of the story seems to be treat a girl like crap and she'll stay with you, would have been better if the characters were a bit older.
Heaven's Lost Property (TV) Good
Heaven's Lost Property: Project Pink (OAV) Good
Heaven's Memo Pad (TV) Good
Hell Girl (TV) Very good
Hellsing (TV) Very good Pros: True-to-form classic vampire anime, Crispen Freeman as Alucard, Powerhouse Alucard, character designs. Cons: Charisma-void Sir Integra, time devoted to Seras coming to terms with being a vampire is time wasted.
Hellsing Ultimate (OAV) Masterpiece Pros: Improves on every fault the original series had, the epic "I love war" speech in the forth episode, so many crowning moments of awesome, gory, excellent animation quality, has possibly the greatest anime fight ever. Cons: The really cartoonish gags aren't funny.
(The ")Hentai" Prince and the Stony Cat. (TV) Very good
High School DxD (TV) Very good Pros: Good character designs (especially Rias), very funny, the Rating Game, good action, good fanservice, strong male lead, some great animation, satisfying ending. Cons: Nudity is overly frequent to the point that it becomes ineffective, cliché supporting characters.
High School DxD New (TV) Good
High School of the Dead (TV) Excellent This show cops a lot of criticism by "professional" reviewers for the very reasons fans love it. An excellent way to kill the time. Pros: Capable English dub, hilarious when it wants to be, over-the-top violence, plenty of gore, even fan service is humorous, surprisingly well written despite its genre restrictions. Cons: Characters can be annoying at times, fan service can be too over-the-top, some... unusual English script decisions.
Highschool of the Dead: Drifters of the Dead (OAV) Good
Himegoto (TV) Decent
HYOUKA (TV)
I couldn't become a hero, so I reluctantly decided to get a job. (TV) Very good
Ikki Tousen (TV) Weak Pros: Mindlessly enjoyable for the first half of the series. Cons: A total clusterfuck, becomes way too serious for such a ridiculous show, weak art, undeveloped characters, too many characters, not funny, weak fanservice, weak fights for an action anime, pretty much everything about this show.
Inu X Boku Secret Service (TV) Very good
Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? (TV) Very good
Is This a Zombie? (TV) Excellent Pros: Harem from hell, great female character designs, hilarious magical girl twist, voice acting, reminded me somehow of Bakemonogatari, very funny. Cons: Last episode threw off the feel of the series,
Is This a Zombie? of the Dead (TV) Very good Even while lacking the action of the first series and having little-to-no plot, series 2 still proves that the Is This a Zombie? series is possibly the best thing to happen to harem anime since tsundere. Pros: Still ridiculously fun, very strong male lead, very likeable and colourful cast, successfully transitioned the series from horror/comedy to a supernatural slice-of-life, hilarious; The show is about a chainsaw-wielding male magical girl zombie and his harem of vampire ninjas, a magical girl, and a necromancer. What's not to love? Cons: Ends before wrapping up the story, not much in the way of plot.
K-ON! (TV) Excellent
K-ON! (movie) Excellent A great movie for a great series. Pros: Cute character designs, good soundtrack, Azu-Nyan and Yui's interactions, kind of fun to hear English voices in the Japanese track, very easy to watch, some nice references in there for fans of the series. Cons: Mio was used much less than she was in the series.
K-ON!! (TV 2) Excellent
Kamisama Dolls (TV) Good
Kanokon: The Girl Who Cried Fox (TV) Weak My personal rule of not dropping an anime once I start it was seriously put to the test within the first three minutes of this show. Luckily the very cheap laughs I got from this series kept me going. Pros: Good supporting characters, can be quite funny at times, so crappy it's almost fun to watch. Cons: Creepy as fuck at times, complete abandonment of a building storyline, weak art, weak animation, I could shit a better plot, the male lead looked about eight, weak male lead.
Kanokon: The Girl Who Cried Fox (OAV) Bad I guess I'm a glutton for punishment, watching the OVA sequel of a show as poor as Kanokon. Pros: Improved art, more focus on supporting characters, less focus on the ill-conceived love triangle. Cons: Distinct lack of laughs that made the TV series bearable, very annoying male lead, added nothing to the series, still creepy.
Kanon (TV 2/2006) Masterpiece
Karin (TV) Decent Pros: Anju and the rest of Karin's family, nosebleed innuendo, fan service, awkwardness between Karin and Kenta. Cons: Really bad English dub for the most part (ESPECIALLY Winner), forced happy ending, makes vampires seem weak.
Kids on the Slope (TV) Excellent Pros: Great jazz soundtrack, good characters, good story, great emotional moments, funny when it tries to be, amazing attention to animation detail when it comes to the instruments; sounds lined up to the action with out any generic movements. Cons: Story would've been better if it were stretched out a few more episodes.
Kill la Kill (TV) Excellent
Kill Me Baby (TV) Good Pros: Mindless fun, Yasuna is easy to like, chibi art style, Agiri's dazed look, funny. Cons: Incredibly repetitive humour, Sonya sounded about 30.
Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You (TV) Excellent
Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season (TV) Excellent
Kiss×sis (TV) Decent Pros: Actually funny, stops before crossing the Hentai line, surprisingly well written, good art. Cons: Still a tad creepy, too fetishy at times, uncomfortable to watch knowing that the lead is only in Junior High.
Kite (OAV) Not really good Pros: Dark twist ending, bloody and violent. Cons: Story didn't need all that nasty hentai, Sawa's English voice, dull characters, rushed; story would've benefited from another episode.
Kite Liberator (OAV) Good Pros: Loses the hentai from the Kite OAVs, good action scenes, good female lead, infinetly better than the Kite OAVs. Cons: Abrupt ending, finished about 20 minutes too early.
Koe de Oshigoto! (OAV) Good Pros: Funny when it wants to be, refreshingly little fan service given the type of show, a good way to kill an hour (only two episodes). Cons: Art wasn't great, too subtle at times.
Ladies versus Butlers! (TV) Good Pros: Colourful cast of characters, good voice acting (mostly), some good yet funny fan service, good male lead given the type of show, very easy to watch, good character designs. Cons: I can't buy the two main female characters as suitable love candidates for the male lead, doesn't stand out among the other harems out there.
Listen to Me, Girls. I Am Your Father! (TV) Very good This is a great show about the importance of family, whether it be traditional or otherwise. It's no Usagi Drop but it still manages to bring a well earned smile to my face at one of the many touching moments. Even things that could've gone horribly wrong (i.e. teen Sora crushing on her older not-related uncle/guardian Yuta) were handled tastefully. I'd have bumped it up to excellent if not for a few issues. Pros: Good character designs, mostly likeable cast, funny, a great feel-good story, rarely drifted into trashy territory for too long. Cons: The fan service was both unwanted and unnecessary given how charming the story is, the fat obvious-pedo was too weird to be funny, even though he was quite likeable it still felt like Yuta was missing something.
Log Horizon (TV) Very good
Log Horizon (TV 2) Good
Loups=Garous - The Motion Picture Awful I cant think of a single good thing to say about this movie. Poor English dub choices, weak art, incredibly slow pace, uninteresting story, misleading (were-wolf themes my fat arse), boring characters and bad character designs. I wasted 99 minutes of my life. So, yeah, pretty shitty overall.
Love Hina (TV) Very good Pros: Practically invented the fall-and-grope, the whistle whenever Su appears, classic awkward moments, some cute character designs. Cons: Motoko, lackluster dub, drags on, ends without anything really changing.
Love Hina Again (OAV) Very good Pros: Improved English dub, improved art, definitive ending. Cons: Was pretty unnecessary, several parts made no sense.
Love Hina Spring Special - I Wish Your Dream Decent
Love Hina X'mas Special - Silent Eve Very good
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! (TV) Excellent
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! -Heart Throb- (TV) Excellent
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions: Depth of Field - Love and Hate Theater (OAV) Decent
Lucky Star (TV) Masterpiece My favourite show about nothing. Pros: Similar to Azumanga Dioh but improves on it's faults, Konata and Kagami's interaction, relates to Otaku such as myself, strong Otaku humour, chibi-style artwork, leaves you wanting to watch it again (3 times so far), Haruhi Suzumiya in-jokes, Wendee Lee as Konata is perfect, very funny when it wants to be, cute character designs, introduces (mostly) interesting new characters midway through, supporting characters, infectious opening theme. Cons: Patty.
Lucky Star OVA Excellent
Lunar Legend Tsukihime (TV) Good Pros: Has a dark feel to it, good character designs, avoids becoming a harem, good English dub, good story. Cons: Uncharismatic male lead, little build up to the finale.
Maburaho (TV) Decent Pros: Female character designs, unique reason his harem wants him, Jessica Boone voicing Yuna, Rin's character development. Cons: Class 2-B are the most irritating support cast I've ever seen, male lead's whiny English voice, overall plot.
Magikano (TV) Not really good I didn't expect much and I was still disappointed. While I didn't hate it completely, I sincerely disliked it. I really do try to see the positives in every anime I watch but this was just too hard to enjoy. Seriously, check out the cons listed below! Pros: The possessed panties, surprisingly good dub for the most part, occasionally funny. Cons: Male lead (your typical closet-case, asexual, uncharasmatic, unattractive, whiny, overall just plain bad whore magnet.), dumb plot, stupid ending, humour relied solely on "you're a bitch!" "yeah, well, you're a whore!" jokes, weird brother complex, the girls weren't particularly attractive, the teacher appearing once per episode only to make a cryptic statement up until episode 13, bad use of supporting characters, really forces the main relationship along rather poorly, weak fanservice.
Magimoji Rurumo (TV) Very good
Mardock Scramble: The First Compression (movie) Very good
Maria Holic (TV) Good Maids, lesbians, cross-dressing and nosebleeds. Aww yea. Pros: Very likeable Kanako, Infectious opener, random humour, makes good use of the nosebleed gag, Father Kanae, unique twists on dated clichés. Cons: Sometimes feels like its too mean to the likeable Kanako, the promising Mariya didn't amount to much.
Master of Martial Hearts (OAV) Good I think its worth sitting through the first four sub-par episodes just to get to the mind fuck of a fifth episode. Pros: Plays out like a better version of Ikki Tousen, mind fucking final episode, easy to watch, doesn't drag on, mindless entertainment. Cons: Poor overall story, fan service wasn't very attractive.
Mayo Chiki! (TV) Very good Pros: One of the better gender-bending shows out there, likeable leads, avoids a lot of clichés, those clichés it can't avoid it instead improves on, doesn't overkill with the fan service. Cons: a couple of weak supporting characters, the thirteenth episode was a bit of a let down.
Medaka Box (TV) Bad I truly HATE Medaka. Without a doubt she is the worst manifestation of the "perfect girl" character ever. When she's on screen everyone is talking about how amazing she is. When she's off screen... every one is still talking about how God damned amazing she is. She's not. Seriously, when you find yourself agreeing with absolutely every negative thing the villain says about the protagonist you know that the creator messed up. OK, now about the overall show... it's pretty bad. Not the worst show ever, just pretty bad. It starts off OK enough but grows stale very quickly. By the halfway mark through the series I was completely burned out. Every member of the central cast is boring. Even Hiteyoshi, who started off promising, was relegated to Medaka's cheerleader and nothing more. Pros: Shiranui, Unzen. Cons: Medaka is a terrible character, mostly weak character designs, mostly horrible eyes, the almost Demon King Daimo-like genre switch (it may have saved the manga but it transitioned horribly in a 12 episode anime), lack of humour, Hiteyoshi started strong but became almost as unbearable as Medaka, most characters excluding the two mentioned in the pros, constant speeches about how wonderful Medaka is.
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV) Masterpiece Pros: One of my favourite ever English dubs with some of my favourite voice actors (Crispin Freeman, Wendee Lee, Johnny Yong Bosch etc.), very funny, strong male and female leads, how uncomfortable Koizumi makes Kyon, I didn't realise God was so cute, The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina, the SOS Brigade/Computer Club rivalry, thoroughly entertaining all round. Cons: Wish it could've gone longer.
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (TV 2009 renewal) Excellent Pros: Excellent English dub, sets up the movie nicely, we get to see how the godawfully awesome SOS Brigade movie is made, Kyon loses his cool at Haruhi finally, very funny. Cons: The Endless Eight arc could've gone half as long and would have had the same effect, wasted at least 4 episodes of a 12 episode series.
(The) Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya (ONA) Very good Pros: Shows Yuki in a very different light, very funny, comical situations that wouldn't appear in the original show, keeps original English cast. Cons: Would've preferred another instalment in the actual Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya series.
Michiko & Hatchin (TV) Excellent Pros: Good looking series, good soundtrack, doesn't sugar-coat things, Michiko and Hatchin's growing relationship, unashamedly realistic (mostly), Michiko. Cons: Realistic ending (while refreshing) was a bit of a buzzkill, Hatchin's voice takes some getting used to.
Midnight Panther (OAV) Decent I know, I know, I said I won't watch anything that could be classed as hentai. But after seeing the absolutely brutal review on here I just had to (I love me a bad anime every now and then). Honestly, and I'm surprised I'm typing this, it wasn't too bad. Sure, it has a weak plot and a short episode count, but it did okay on the delivery. Pros: Likeable lead, so bad it's good, mostly good voice work, good art for something made before 2000. Cons: Sex scenes were about as arousing as a box full of dead kittens, weak plot, most characters, two 30 minute episodes is definitely not enough to both set up and resolve a story properly, the old lady's character design.
Midori Days (TV) Excellent Pros: Strong male lead, very unique concept, touching ending, episode 7, good fight scenes, very funny. Cons: How did no one notice the girl attached to his wrist when he barely hid it in public?
Minami-ke (TV) Excellent Pros: Laugh out loud moments, great supporting cast, good voice acting, ridiculous and down to earth at the same time. Cons: None of the main characters particularly stand out.
Minami-ke: Okawari (TV) Good
Mitsudomoe (TV) Very good
Mitsudomoe Zōryōchū! (TV) Very good
Monster (TV) Excellent
MoonPhase (TV) So-so Pros: Capable English dub, bratty Hazuki, sometmes funny. Cons: Weak/unlikeable male lead, overused/unfunny falling basin gag, Kaoru.

My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (TV) Excellent
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (OAV) Good
My Wife is the Student Council President (TV) Good
Mysterious Girlfriend X (TV) Very good Basically, this show contains a lot of drool sucking. Not kissing, actual drool sucking. I won't lie: It's pretty disgusting. The actual story, however, is a cute, unique, and very strange teenage love story. Pros: Urabe is an incredibly unique female lead, Tsubaki is a lot more bearable than most other male leads in this genre, refreshingly simplistic character designs, less-is-more fan service for most episodes, some great vocal work, the effectiveness of Urabe's exposed eye/s. Cons: The emphasis on drool is to this show what the emphasis on crotch close-ups is to Strike Witches; I know that it's what the show is practically built around but less would definitely be more, annoying Oka, some girls look... derpy (for lack of a better word).
Needless (TV) Excellent Pros: So ridiculously over the top and campy that its awesome, hilarious, Andrew Love voicing Blade, yelled attack names,"LLLLLLLITTLE BOY!!!", Adam Blades "weakness" was a hilarious shock, "Stripes", even fan service was funny, overall a really fun watch. Cons: Some voices didn't match the characters, loli elements are a tad uncomfortable, some jokes fall flat.
Nekomonogatari (Black) (TV)
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Very good A time-tested classic. Pros: Deep, interesting plot, insight into the characters personalities, original, holds up well even by today's standards. Cons: Indecisive ending, talks like a book at times, so God damned angsty.
Ninja Scroll (movie) Good
Nisemonogatari (TV) Very good Sequel of Bakemonogatari. Pros: Very funny at times, strong male lead, likeable characters, Senjōgahara, leaves room for a sequel. Cons: Creepy-as-fuck sibling interactions, only two story arcs, less action than Bakemonogatari.

Oreimo (TV) Very good
Oreimo 2 (TV) Very good
Ouran High School Host Club (TV) Very good
Pani Poni Dash! (TV) Excellent Pros: Plays out like the bastard child of Excel Saga and Cromartie High, everything about Himeko and Ichijo, "maho", very funny, random humour, great English dub, good parody of high school tropes, great character designs. Cons: Sometimes has too much going on the screen at the same time for its own good.
Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt (TV) Very good This show makes Desert Punk look like Seseme Street. That's saying something. It looks like Powerpuff Girls and Dexters Laboratory combined, but sounds like it would be rated R-18. Pros: A filthy homage to American cartoons I grew up on, great English dub (you can tell they had a lot of fun on this), absolutely filthy dialogue and sexual innuendo, It's really funny to hear characters swear like crazy when you've heard the same English voice actors play children, entertaining characters. Cons: Artistry makes it feel like you're not watching an anime, repetitive humour.
Paranoia Agent (TV) Good
Parasyte -the maxim- (TV) Masterpiece

(Le) Portrait de Petite Cossette (OAV) Good Not gonna lie: I barely was able to follow the story. But the visuals were great, and overall I enjoyed the show.
Psycho-Pass (TV) Excellent
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (TV) Masterpiece I'll go on the record and say that normally I have no interest in the magical girl genre. So when I read such overwhelmingly positive reviews about Puella Magi Madoka Magica I didn't think it would live up to the hype. Boy was I happily mistaken. This show is nothing short of breathtaking, exquisite even. Pros: Nearly had me shedding manly tears a few times, amazing artwork, great story, doesn't fuck around when it wants you to emote, likeable characters, witch fights are a treat to the eyes, the unfeeling cat-thing, such a unique and interesting take on a presumably stale genre. Cons: Character art takes some getting used to.
Puni Puni Poemy (OAV) Very good Pros: Has you wondering "what the fuck am I watching?" pretty much the entire time, "Watch your fucking language!", chaotic insanity, Dragon Ball reference, very random, great parody of the magical girl genre. Cons: Has you wondering "what the fuck am I watching?" pretty much the entire time, you might find yourself rewinding a bit catch a rapid fire joke, may cause a slight headache.
R-15 (TV) Decent Pros: Fukune Narukara might be the cutest most adorable thing I have ever seen (seriously, I can't stress this enough), cute character designs, sometimes funny, some good fan service. Cons: Wouldn't have watched at all if I'd known how much this show straddles the lolicon line, even without being able to understand Japanese I could tell that there was some horrible voice acting in some supporting characters.
R-15 (OAV) Not really good If you liked the R-15 TV series soly for the fan service you will enjoy this OAV, otherwise you will just get 30mins of what is basically plotless softcore hentai with none of the R-15 humour present. Oh well, at least the character designs are still cute.
Rosario + Vampire (TV) Good Pros: Great character designs, guaranteed fight in every episode, mixes both well-known and lesser known monsters, very easy to watch. Cons: That annoying unfunny bat thing, weak male lead.
Rosario + Vampire Capu2 (TV) Decent Pros: Still great character designs, interesting new characters, the bat thing is less annoying, more time spent on each character. Cons: Weak ending, male lead is even more irritating. "Tskune" "Moka-san" "Tskune" "Moka-san" gag is completely exhausted.
(The) Sacred Blacksmith (TV) Decent Pros: I got a laugh out of the constant boob jokes, episodes didn't drag out, Luke Ainsworth was pretty cool, female character designs. Cons: Weak female lead, monster designs were pretty poor, overall storyline wasn't too good.
Samurai Champloo (TV) Masterpiece Pros: Every main character, truly awesome fight scenes, best frienemies, no bad episodes, the last 3 episodes in particular were great, Mugen's filthy mouth, very funny at times, incredibly unique take on the samurai genre, very engaging at times. Cons: Opening theme.
Samurai Flamenco (TV) Decent
Samurai Girls (TV) Awful This show... this show was shit. Truly shit. The only positive thing I can say about it is that it had a unique visual presentation. The bad things I can say about it: weak action, weak characters, one of the worst attempts at setting up a plot I've ever seen, the setting and plot were ridicutarded, boring, completely unfunny (I laughed 1 time out of 12 episodes and I can't even remember the joke), some awful character art (with the possible exception being Yukimura Sanada), half-hearted animation, a typical happy harem dodge-the-romantic-issue ending, boring- really, just so boring- male lead, too fanservicey, and dear god the dub. The freaking dub. Even the experienced VA's sounded like this was their first gig. The battle cries sounded so awkward I felt bad for those poor VA's. No wonder they all used stage names for this crap. While on names, the historical samurai who have had their legendary names bastardized by this crap are most likely rolling in their graves. So, yeah, I don't recommend it.
Sankarea: Undying Love (TV) Good
School Days (TV) Very good This show will bring out all sorts of emotions. Before watching this I had no idea why Matoko Itou was the most hated man in all of Anime. At first he was even Likeable but by the end you will definately despise him. Pros: Brings out a range of emotions, most realistic harem ever made, ending was a total mind-fuck, you don't want to stop watching until it's finished, what happens to Matoko. Cons: Almost too cruel to Kotonoha to watch at parts, may leave you distrusting everyone.
School Days: Magical Heart Kokoro-chan (OAV) So-so It wasn't awful but it definitely wasn't good. It's a bad idea to watch this after just finishing School Days because you'll still be hating nearly every character too much to enjoy it.
School Days: Valentine Days (OAV) Weak I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be a comedy but I sure as hell wasn't laughing.
School Rumble (TV) Excellent Pros: Harima might be the best male lead in any show ever, consistently funny, cute female character designs, great character interactions, great English dub, constant misunderstandings, good fight scenes, good fan service. Cons: Karasuma, too many supporting characters.
School Rumble Sangakki (OAV) Good
School Rumble: 2nd Semester (TV) Excellent Pros: Harima is still awesome, still funny, still has the cute female character designs, still has great character interactions, the same great English dub, even more constant misunderstandings, more good fight scenes, lots more fan service. Cons: Karasuma still shows no charisma, too many supporting characters, Lala Gonzalez was a somewhat racist characterisation.
School Rumble: Extra Class (OAV) Very good
Seitokai Yakuindomo (TV) Very good Pros: Very funny, dirty humour from innocent looking characters, cute character designs, dignified male lead, avoided becoming just another harem. Cons: overused cut scene.
Seitokai Yakuindomo (OAV) Good Pros: Still nasty humour, good characters all round. Cons: Not as funny as the series.
Shakugan no Shana (TV) Very good Pros: TSUNDERE!!!, "shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!!", mostly likeable supporting characters, Shana's English voice, strong male and female leads. Cons: Really could've done without the twincest, Yoshida and Wirhelmina.
Shakugan no Shana Second (TV) Good Pros: Good action, last four episodes, Sabrac, good character growth, Ike in episode 7. Cons: Weak/slow first half, Konoe and Yoshida, became more about the love triangle than it did action.
Shigurui: Death Frenzy (TV)
SHIMONETA: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist (TV) Very good
Silver Spoon (TV) Excellent
Silver Spoon (TV 2) Excellent
(The) Slayers (TV) Good
Soul Eater (TV) Excellent Pros: Death the Kid's OCD, Soul and Maka's pairing, "I don't know how to deal with this!", the overall concept of the show, the DWMA design, the first two Excalibur appearances. Cons: Black*Star, Excalibur overuse, BLACK*STAR!!!!, art takes some getting used to, F_CKING BLACK*STAR!!!!
Spice and Wolf (TV) Excellent
Spice and Wolf II (TV) Excellent
Squid Girl (TV) Very good
Steins;Gate (TV) Masterpiece Hands down one of the best shows I've ever watched. No need for me to elaborate, just and watch it and be damn happy you did. Truly amazing. Pros: Very very very strong male lead, very clever, thrilling, strong cliffhanger endings each episode, surprisingly good romance, very funny at times, great emotional scenes, strong voice acting, great cast of characters. Cons: None.
Strange+ (TV) Decent
Strawberry Marshmallow (TV) Very good Pros: Nobue is probably the best older-sister-type in this genre, "Sasazuka go stand in the hall!", unconcious Mui, cute character designs, fitting Englsh dub. Cons: Language jokes were lost in translation, most characters were barely unique.
Strawberry Panic! (TV) So-so Pros: Lesbians everywhere!, cute character designs, tasteful fan service. Cons: I'm pretty sure blatant homosexuality wouldn't go so unnoticed by nuns, doesn't pick up until the halfway mark, could've ran comfortably with much less episodes, not very engaging.
Strike the Blood (TV) Very good
Strike Witches (TV) Very good Pros: Great art, good action, cute character designs, likeable characters, strong female lead, quite funny at times, sometimes the fanservice was good. Cons: Lolicon fanservice overkill ruins some of the experience, unexplained lack of pants.
Strike Witches 2 (TV) Good
Student Council's Discretion (TV) Excellent Pros: Surprisingly unique harem, episode 8, cute character designs, adorable president, very honest male lead, strong otaku humour and anime in-jokes, great voice acting. Cons: Thrown together ending.
Student Council's Discretion Lv. 2 (TV) Good
Summer Wars (movie) Very good
Supernatural: The Anime Series (OAV) Good Pros: Features Jared Padalecki and Jenson Ackles from the live-action series as Sam and Dean (Ackles only for the last 2 episodes), good replacement for Dean's live-action voice for the first 20 episodes, Surprisingly heart wrenching episode 20, Overall mostly good in both languages, successful animated version of an American live-action series. Cons: English voices (mostly Sams) have noticable trouble matching the character lip movement, deus ex machina overkill, supporting characters come off as stiff and formulaic.

Toradora! (TV) Excellent Pros: Likeable male lead, good female character designs, very funny at times, Rie Kugimiya as tsundere Taiga, infectious opening song (first half), surprisingly good fight scenes, decisive ending. Cons: The bit leading up to the ending seemed forced.
Trigun (TV) Very good Pros: Likeable male lead, Wolfwood and his epic cross gun, good action scenes, the insurance girls, drunk Vash, Vash the wannabe womaniser, story becomes more engaging as it progresses. Cons: Voice work starts off shaky.
Trigun: Badlands Rumble (movie) Very good Pros: Improved art, improved voice acting, set before the end of the TV series, Wolfwood's epic cross-gun, enjoyable story. Cons: I would've liked to see the insurance girls do more.
tsuritama (TV) Not really good I love fishing and I love anime. Just not together it seems. Pros: Yamada, made me want to go fishing. Cons: Haru is in my "top 5 most blood-boilingly annoying characters ever" list, weak art, weak plot, mostly dislikeable characters, boring.
Umineko - When They Cry (TV) So-so Part of the When They Cry series. I wish I could like this show. As a fan of the first two in the When They Cry series I had high hopes for this show and they all fell short. The show is basically about a guy with a stupid name who is trying to prove that witches and magic don't exist. To a witch. Who uses magic. The way he tries to prove it? They play a game where his family is killed over and over again in seemingly inhuman ways and he has to come up with a non-magical explanation for each scenario. Also, the people who assist him in trying to prove witches don't exist are witches. Yeah, It's kind of dumb. But it's also nice and gory and full of deceit and murder, which is fun. It isn't a very good show but it certainly isn't boring. If you can ignore the stupidity of it all, by all means, have yourself a watch. Just try to tolerate how incredibly annoying Maria is in the first half. Pros: Some of the weirdness was explained well, good gore, followed a similar format to its Higurashi predecessors. Cons: Made virtually no sense at all, just when it would start making sense it would instead do a complete 180, Maria in the first half was just plain annoying, the whole premise of the show failed, weak first half.
Un-Go (TV) Good
Un-Go episode:0 Inga-ron (movie) Good
Utawarerumono (TV) Good
Vampire Knight (TV) So-so Honestly, the only reason I watched this show is because it's one of the shows popular with the casual female fan-base (no harm in trying to find conversation material, right?). I am most definitely not in the show's target demographic. I didn't like it, didn't hate it. I just... watched it. Pros: Became somewhat interesting as the show went on, the headmaster, leaves you wanting to find out what happens in the next series. Cons: Yuki is so very dumb; you could punch her in the mouth every time you meet her and she still wouldn't understand that you're dangerous, crappy bishounen character designs made all the males look the same (three non-twins were practically identical), most characters- including the female lead- lacked any depth.
Wagnaria!! (TV) Very good
Wagnaria!!2 (TV) Very good
WATAMOTE (TV) Very good
Welcome to the NHK (TV) Masterpiece Pros: Very funny, great English dub, crazy conspiracy theories, Misaki is adorable, main characters were likeable. Cons: Art got lazy as the series progressed.
When They Cry - Higurashi (TV) Very good
When They Cry - Kai (TV) Excellent
Wolf and the Amber-colored Melancholy (OAV) Excellent
(The) World God Only Knows (TV) Good Pros: Elysia, the "do what you love no matter what others think" message, funny at times, good Japanese casting choices. Cons: Takes itself way too seriously given the premise, Keima's explanation cut scenes.
(The) World God Only Knows Season Two (TV) Very good Pros: Better stories than the first series, still funny, Keima seems to humanise a little more, still great voice work, positive message. Cons: Feels like Elsie is demoted to supporting character rather than female lead.
xxxHOLiC (TV) Very good
Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily (TV) Excellent Pros: Absolutely hilarious, character interactions, the little things the characters do, moe character designs, like a yuri K-On!, very easy to watch every episode in one sitting, tsundere!!!. Cons: Only 12 episodes.
Yuruyuri - Happy Go Lily (TV2) Good The second season of Yuruyuri. I guess the "cute girls doing cute things" genre is starting to loosen its grip on me. Or at least this show is. I did enjoy this season but I started to notice some faults I missed in the first. Pros: Funny, taboo humour, mostly cute character designs, easy to watch for the most part. Cons: Noticeably weaker than the first season, first two episodes are very dull.
Yuyushiki (TV) Very good
