Ah! My Goddess: The Movie Decent
Alien Nine (special) Masterpiece
I really like this series. On the outside, it looks really cute, but when you watch it, you notice it is actually quite dark and disturbing. For just four OAVs, the characters are established very well, and there is even a little shoujo-ai in here. For what happens after, I recommend reading the manga.
Angels in the Court (OAV) So-so
Azumanga Daioh (TV) Excellent
Amazing how good a comedy about not much more than the high school lives of a group of schoolgirls can be. This series is cute, funny (in a goofy sort of way), and will remind many people of what high school was like. Oh yes, and Osaka is not dumb, just unique!
Azumanga Daioh - The Very Short Movie Very good
Azumanga Web Daioh (ONA) Good
For fans of the TV series, see this. It is what started it all.
Battle Athletes (OAV) Not really good
Boring OAV with a much better TV series.
Battle Athletes Victory (TV) Very good
Underrated sports anime with memorable characters, some fanservice, some goofy humor, some serious moments, some shoujo-ai, and a lot of girls!
Blood Royale (OAV) Very good
Hooray to Discovery!
(La) Blue Girl (OAV) Very good
oh man... this is horrible anime, but it is so horrible that it is hilarious! I mean, p*ss-poor animation and humor that is either cheesey or offensive... who can resist? I actually do find the story interesting. Hooray for sex ninjas! Hooray for Miko and Fubuki!
Boogiepop Phantom (TV) Very good
This is one of my favorite dark anime that is not straight-forward. I find the episode structure almost fascinating... it is so confusing for someone with a short attention spand and poor memory like me!
Campus (OAV) Decent
Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie Excellent
Like most of CCS, this is cute stuff that everyone can enjoy. The animation looks really pretty, in my opinion. Maybe it is just because I love looking at water. You can watch this movie with the kids!
(The) Cat Returns (movie) Excellent
As a furry, I enjoy this movie. I really wish we had more anime like this. Oh yes, it's family-appropriate, too. ^_^
Ceres, Celestial Legend (TV) Excellent
Cool Devices (OAV) Very good
Classic hentai which every hentai fan should have in their collection. Since most of the episodes are different stories by different animators, it's hard to comment here. Cool Devices has some hardcore stuff like BDSM, (undetailed) golden shower scenes, gang-bangs, incest, and a lot of P-A-I-N. It is pretty explict material for its time, but lately, hentai is getting more and more daring.
Countdown (OAV) Excellent
I'm a big fan of Hiroyuki Utatane, and think the women he draws are some of the sexiest animated beings I have seen in hentai (heck, anime in general), and manga. This is a break from the usual hentai fare and, strictly in my opinion, has strong artistic value. It is a shame two episodes never made it to North American shores. There is now no excuse for those episodes to not be released in this day and age although three or four years ago, I would understand.
Countdown: Akira (OAV) Masterpiece
Oh wow! If you think hentai has no value whatsoever in terms of characterization, style, and art, this is a must-see.
Cowboy Bebop (TV) Decent
Dragon Half (OAV) Decent
El-Hazard: The Magnificent World (OAV) Good
Escaflowne: The Movie Weak
F3 (OAV) Decent
Uh... it's a hentai comedy about masturbation with a lot of girl-on-girl scenes. Nothing else to say here, really.
Fake (OAV) Good
Decent shounen-ai anime, and you don't have to like shounen-ai to enjoy it.
FLCL (OAV) Very good
Uh... okay. That about sums up the reaction I, as well as many others, have had. This anime has some really random and weird imagery.
Fruits Basket (TV 1/2001) Excellent
Very nice shoujo anime with everything people appreciate shoujo for (sweet lead character, focus on relationships, and bishounen).
Fushigi Yugi (TV) Excellent
This is addictive stuff! The way the episodes almost always end with cliff-hangers leaves me wanting more until the end. Oh yes, and I support both Miaka and Yui as characters.
Fushigi Yugi (OAV) Not really good
Fushigi Yugi Eikoden (OAV) So-so
Enough FY already! Please... the TV series was wonderful, but we do not need to keep dragging this on so much...
Grave of the Fireflies (movie) Very good
I watch this movie with my dad, who normally has no interest in anime or anything animated. When it was over, he told me that it was probably one of the three best war films he had ever seen, and commented that this should be shown in high school history classes. I think this comment speaks for itself.
Gravitation (TV) Good
Excellent animation, memorable characters, and awesome music. The main problem, and I will preach it, is that this anime displays an abusive relationship episode-by-episode and fans think there is nothing wrong with these kinds of relationships (a few I've met evenassume that all male/male sexual relationships are like this) Please, think a little about this...
Gravitation: Lyrics of Love (OAV) So-so
See above on TV series. It is not AS bad, but the same basicly applies.
His and Her Circumstances (TV) Excellent
Starts out as excellent shoujo anime, then turns to mush.
I Dream of Mimi (OAV) Excellent
I wish this didn't have to be catagorized as "hentai". It is so much fun! If you're sick of all the ecchi anime out there with jerks and perverts as male lead characters, this is a must see. The male lead character is a geek who, as an understatement, has no experience with women. The humor is clever and had me falling over in my chair at times. This is excellent for beginners in the hentai field, as the h-content is extremely light.
Junkers Come Here (movie) Very good
Cute movie that is safe for children, even though I found the main character a little on the weak side.
Kiki's Delivery Service (movie) Good
Kite (OAV) Very good
I saw the 100% unedited version of this OAV, which hasn't yet been released on North America. Sawa is really hot!
Koihime (OAV) So-so
This title didn't do much for me, but it certainly will appeal to many people. There is a plot and fairly nice animation for a hentai feature. People who are just seeking ordinary, but graphic, male/female heterosexual hentai will be pleased.
Lesbian Ward (OAV) Not really good
Love Hina Spring Special - I Wish Your Dream Bad
Magic Knight Rayearth (TV) Very good
This is pretty good shoujo anime that is not quite a magical girl series.
Magical Play (ONA) Excellent
Lots of pretty flowers... ohhhh! I really like bright, colorful things, you see.
Mezzo Forte (OAV) Good
Miyuki-chan in Wonderland (OAV) Decent
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (TV) Decent
In one word... "okay". Hardcore fans of other Gundam series have fun bashing this, but as far as anime goes, there is much, MUCh worse garbage out there to insult. Oh yes, I support Relena as a character, and Heero and Duo make a HORRIBLE pair. Flame me all you want, fangirls. :p
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (OAV) Decent
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz Special Edition (movie) Good
My Neighbor Totoro (movie) Good
Cute and family-appropriate. Perverts, dyou'll get laughs out of watching this Miyazaki classic with a dirty mind...
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV) Excellent
While this is not the best anime series of all time (as some hardcore fans claim), it is still, IMO, an excellent series. The characters are all as I like them - flawed and realistic. It also has some very good messages about humanity.
New Angel (OAV) Very good
Got quite a few laughs from me.
Night Shift Nurses (OAV) Very good
I've finally seen all of this, including all the scenes that were considered "too offensive" for North American audiences to see. Mmm.. urine and feces, apparantly the two most offensive things to see in hentai.
Noir (TV) Excellent
Stop complaining about the lack of blood because it is a stylistic thing. Now that I've said that, this is a beautiful series that is deep and has gorgeous women with shoujo-ai overtones.
Now and Then, Here and There (TV) Decent
Oh My Goddess! (OAV) Good
Beautifully animated, and my first experience with anime after SailorMoon. Belldandy is beautiful in appearance, even though she is a little too doormat-ish for my tastes.
Parade Parade (OAV) Very good
Lesbians and a hermaphrodites... this is what I call porn! The rape scene was also surprisingly realistic.
Perfect Blue (movie) Excellent
All I can say is... Never watch this movie in a mentally unstable state!
Please Save My Earth (OAV) Excellent
Great, underrated shoujo based of a manga that was a masterpiece.
Please Teacher! (TV) Excellent
This is definately not what I expected! I thought this was going to be another T&A (i.e. fanservice) show, but I was sure wrong! Yes, there was a lit-tle bit of fanservice, but this also was an excellent show for the story, characterization and relationship-development.
Princess Mononoke (movie) Weak
Bleh... overrated Miyazaki movie. It took me three attempts to view this movie entirely, since I fell asleep twice (had no insomnia, just general boredom). It is beautifully animated, and I thought the wolves were cool, but that is just not enough.
Princess Nine (TV) Good
Wow-ey, more sports anime. I thought an anime about baseball would be all right, but not actually enjoyable. This reminds me of A League of Their Own gone anime, in a way.
Read or Die (OAV) Very good
Revolutionary Girl Utena (TV) Masterpiece
I am a Utena fan, obviously. Although Utena and Anthy are not a couple in the TV series, there is a character us shoujo-ai fans will love. It is fun to sit with a group of people, and discuss the meaning in this show.
Revolutionary Girl Utena: The Movie Masterpiece
More Utena, and beautiful animation! The scene with Utena and Anthy dancing is one of the most beautifully done scenes I have ever seen. You'll be extremely confused if you do not watch the TV series before vieiwng this movie.
Saber Marionette J (TV) Masterpiece
I really love this anime. It, at first, appears to be a goofy comedy, but there is a lot of other emotions I felt while watching it. I remember nearly crying at one point, even.
Sailor Moon (TV) Very good
I admit to being a proud "moonie".I was one of the originals... way back in 1995-1996. I remember SailorMoon being really cool and special to me in my pre-teen years, and the dubbed version of this first series was my very first exposure to anime. I've seen the Japanese version now and have moved on to other anime, but once in a while, I like to take out my fansubs and sit through hours and hours of memories.
Sailor Moon R (TV) Good
Of all the Sailormoon series, I like this the least. Of course, this isn't saying much, since I am a Sailormoon fan.
Sailor Moon R: The Movie Very good
I remember this being my first exposure to non-dubbed anime, and I thought it was really cool. The story is sweet, and we learn a little about Mamoru's lonely childhood.
Sailor Moon S (TV) Very good
Darker Sailormoon... who'd have thought? Haruka and Michiru are in this, too, for us shoujo-ai fans.
Sailor Moon S: The Movie Very good
This would have been much better if there was no villain of the day. This is Luna's movie, folks!
Sailor Moon Sailor Stars (TV) Very good
The final season of Sailormoon, which was apparantly too "controversial" to be on North American TV. Yes, the Sailor Starlights are gender-bending, but, having been exposed to a lot of hentai and being a futanari fan, this is nothing to me. This series has a lot of really sweet moments, and it is my second favorite Sailormoon series.
Sailor Moon SuperS (TV) Excellent
Amazing how out of all the Sailormoon series, this gets accused of being the most childish! It has some stuff here that I'd be very cautious of showing little kids, like the fact that Zirconia is really ugly, the entire "one, two, three" sequence performed by the Amazon Trio (which, to me, resembles rape), and the fact that, in the dub, Elios sounds like a 40-year old man (which he is not supposed to be, by the way... he is meant to be a young teenager if you go by appearance, voice, and personality). I do like ChibiUsa as a character, and I find Elios, in human form, to be absolutely GORGEOUS.
Sailor Moon SuperS (special) Very good
More Sailormoon... not much to be seen here. The Haruka and Michiru episode is a ust see for their fans, and the "Sailor Special Garlic Attack!" may get a laugh or two.
Sailor Moon SuperS Plus - Ami's First Love (special) Not really good
This is, well, boring. If you a fan of Ami, you must see this special. It's some fanservice for you, and looks nice, too. If you don't care for her much, like me, then, well, this isn't much to look at.
Sailor Moon SuperS: The Movie Good
Really pretty animation. This is SM animation at its best, folks! All that candy makes me hungry...
Serial Experiments Lain (TV) Very good
Although I liked Boogiepop Phantom more, this is a "mind-f*ck" anime classic. I can also see elements of shoujo-ai in here, making me giggle in glee like a school girl.
Shusaku the Letch (OAV)
I thought I'd like this because it has a bit of bathroom fetish material (I feel like one of the rare few in hentai fandom who likes the stuff), but the lack of detail in the sex scenes and lack of plot make it dull. The tanned-skin girl, Moeko, is really hot, though.
Steel Angel Kurumi (TV) Good
The episodes are short (only 15 minutes long), so this is good stuff if you have a short attention span.
Steel Angel Kurumi 2 (TV) Very good
More of the same, basicly, only the whole series is shoujo-ai! Yay, yay!
Steel Angel Kurumi Encore (OAV) Good
See what I said for the original "Steel Angel Kurumi". This is more of the same.
Strawberry Eggs (TV) Good
You can never go wrong with a cross-dressing teacher. This series has some sweet coming-of-age moments, even though though they are a tad cliched.
Tenchi Forever!: The Movie So-so
Tenchi Muyo! Mihoshi Special So-so
Tenchi the Movie - Tenchi Muyo in Love Very good
This is my favorite of the Tenchi movies that I've seen. It is kind of Back to the Future gone Tenchi-ish.
(The) Vision of Escaflowne (TV) Good
