| Animation Runner Kuromi (OAV) | Excellent | I have my DVR set to record any anime's that play on AZN television. So it happened to record this one. I had no idea what to expect. This short little movie is very "in your face". The comedy starts right off the bat and never stops. It certainly surpassed my expectation with ease. It also give you a good idea of what it takes to create an animated series. If you have a quick hour to kill, I'd suggest checking this out. Or even put an hour to side for it. I definately enjoyed it. |

The series lacks only two things, decent animation quality and lack of a better ending. During the battle scenes, the background are always so dull, but it doesn't really matter, because the series is still great. I love the way Gut's personality developes throughout the series. It gives it an excellent storyline. But they way the series ends is kinda dissapointing, but it leaves you wanting more! Hopefully they'll release the story of the Black Swordsman eventually! |

But when you throw that together with some bad animation, and alot of really questionable, out of place content, it doesn't make up for it. Not to mention the last 5 minutes of the last episode to close off the series just leave you saying "WTF just happened? Why the hell would that happen?" |

As much as I like watching girls flaunting their stuff, it'll make me not take an anime seriously in a heartbeat. This series definately has plenty of this. In fact, in the middle of the series, all the girl's chests seemed to double in size, and practically filled the entire screen. There was plently of action in this series, in fact, too much action, that it looses all of it's story to the point where I just wanted it to end. |

I think to really get what this show's about, you have to be really in tune with the Japanese culture and other animes. The entire show is made up of a bunch of different parodies. Whether their music parodies, anime parodies, etc. Alot of people refer to this as kinda a male version of Azumanga Daioh. Which in many ways it is. But the atmosphere and the way the episodes flow is totally different. |

It's quite enjoyable. And if you liked it that much, you can watch the movie as well, to get kinda a different perspective on the story. The movie in itself, is a pretty good movie. It won't hurt to watch the movie, only. The animation quality in the movie is excellent, alot better than the series. |

The series starts out in the middle of the timelime through the series. After the first episode, it goes to the beginning (well, not counting the few flashbacks of when the main characters were kids), and begins to build the story from there. The first episode attempts to foreshadow what's going to happen within the series, but it seemed more of a spoiler to me. And becase of it, I just wanted the story to hurry along and get to that point. I was expecting it to happen within the first few episodes, but it takes almost the entire series for it to reach that point. This made the series seem rather slow to develop. But once the timeline begins to approach that first episode, that's when this series starts really sucking you in. |

| Inuyasha (TV) | Excellent | Inuyasha had the potential to be probably the best series out there. But problems lied to bring it back. First of all, the story throughout the series is terrific. Actually theres quite a few stories going on at the same time. The first problem lies, there are too many filler episodes throughout the entire series. I know alot of series can add filler episodes, but usually most of them fall at the beginning of the series, before the full story develops. In Inuyasha, they seem to just throw them wherever they want. Another thing that was really annoying was the super cute episodes. Many episodes of Inuyasha featured very dark storylines with plenty of death, but every once in a while they'll throw an episode in that seemed to focus the attention of a 5 year old. Why? Who do they think are watching this? Many episodes just simply seem like a total waste of 25 minutes. Also the series just simply stops, with no ending, and no conclusion. You have no idea your watching the last episode until you realize there's no preview after the credits like there usually is. The last thing that was slightly annoying, but easily looked past, is the fact that everyone had to yell out the names of their special moves or powers every time they used them. What is it about many anime's having to do this?
Either way, Inuyasha is still a great series. Though it has a common story base of a school girl that gets wisked away to some strange land, the story line gets very involved. So if you have the time to watch all 160+ episodes, it's definatly one to consider. The characters are very well created. Even all the minor characters are very well created, though a few seem simular to other ones from different points in the series. The art is is excellently drawn. The music, throughout the series seems alittle too repeatful, but ok. The ending credit songs are very good, though.
I also thought I'd add, I watched the english dubbed version on Adult Swim. The voice actors in the series were excellent. But, the dialog through out most of the series was rather pathetic. Everyone plays the roll of Captain Obvious, and keep telling us stuff we already know, and have known throughout the entire series. I guess they probably do it for the people that haven't watched the series all the way through. |

It has a much more in depth, and different introduction. And, as little of story it has, does carry it through alot better through the end. |

| Trigun (TV) | Masterpiece | This series holds the rank of being my favorite anime. The series has pretty much everything that I look for it one. The character development is among the best. The storyline is excellent. It contains plenty of action, comedy, drama, etc. The animation quality isn't the best, but the series is so good, that it doesn't even matter. Watching the way Vash the Stampede thinks of the world, life and exsistance always made me question how I control my life. I definately recommend this series from beginning to end to anyone, whether their anime fans or not! |

| (The) Vision of Escaflowne (TV) | Excellent | I watched Escaflowne the movie when they played it on the Cartoon Network. I thought it was a fairly good movie. Then I found out that there was an entire series on Escaflowne. After watching the series, I found out it was a mistake to watch the movie first, as with most series/movie alternate telling combos. Though I'm not really a fan of mecha or other form of giant robot type anime, Escaflowne didn't focus the story on it like others. This made it more enjoyable for me. Though I have seen my fair share of school girls getting pulled into some far off fantasy land, this one was still very enjoyable. It goes much deeper into the individual characters, unlike the movie, which just brushes up on the stuff. |
