ouatic-7's Anime

Seen someComment
Angelic Layer (TV)I won disk one at a convention.
Black Jack (OAV)Very dry but I would have seen it all if Netflix hadn't stopped carrying it.
Bleach (TV)Must see.
Catnapped! The Movie
Cromartie High School (TV)
Eyeshield 21 (TV)I don't watch football but I find the idea of football being the red haired step child sport (seeing as it's Japan) at the high school pretty amusing and I like the characters, too.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (movie)
Gakuen Alice (TV)
Gantz (TV)
Gunslinger Girl (TV)
Kino's Journey (TV)
Kyo kara Maoh! (TV)I love the satire on magical girl animes.
Madlax (TV)
Naruto (TV)I loathe Sasuke.
Noein - to your other self (TV)
One Piece (TV)Luffy is one of my favorite characters of all time.
Orphen: The Revenge (TV)
Pom Poko (movie)Very enjoyable if you can get past the magical testicles. I only stopped because it seemed like something horrid was going to happen and I wasn't in the mood.
(The) Prince of Tennis (TV)The tennis gets a little dull but I like the characters interactions and the between matches stories.
(The) Red Spectacles (live-action movie)
Saiyuki Reload (TV)The art style is much different from Saiyuki and the voices are different. It's hard to become accustomed.
School Rumble (TV)
Scrapped Princess (TV)
Sherlock Hound (TV)Miyazaki episodes are a must see.
Shrine of the Morning Mist (TV)
Zatch Bell (TV)Conventional fighting anime, demons on demons but the scariest character in the show is the human girl, Naomi-chan. I like the show because when Gash isn't fighting, he's like a typical bipolar 4-year old.

Avenger (TV)DecentSomething about no children being born on Mars and Mars dying and stuff. The ending was incomprehensible but I liked the theme song.
Bastard!! (OAV)Not really goodAbruptly stops just when the story is getting started. A little too '80s.
Berserk (TV)GoodReally gruesome. Good music. Substantially different from the manga.
Cardcaptor Sakura (TV)Very goodMy husband said, "I'm embarrassed to watch it but not for the usual reasons." One of the few Clamp shows I could sit through, it's about a a nice girl chasing nice cards being looked after by her "mean" older brother who is really overly protective.
Cardcaptor Sakura: The MovieDecentCCS in Hong Kong. Like most anime movies, comes up a bit lacking next to the show.
Castle in the Sky (movie)GoodMiyazaki; all you need to know.
(The) Cat Returns (movie)Good
Chinese Ghost Story (Chinese movie)Very goodAnimation from Tsui Hark. Any Tsui Hark is worth a look.
Chrono Crusade (TV)Very goodNew York in the 1920s, nun fights demons with her demon sidekick. What's not to like.
City Hunter (live-action movie)GoodJackie Chan. Slapstick. I liked it but parts make me cringe.
Conan, the Boy in Future (TV)ExcellentMiyazaki reworks the craptastic book "The Terrible Tide" into a fantastic 26 episodes.
Cowboy Bebop (TV)GoodGreat music, great characters, grim ending.
Cowboy Bebop: The MovieVery goodCB TV less the grim ending.
Crying Freeman (live-action movie)GoodFollows 1st volume of manga very closely but gives it a less insane ending. Same director as "Brotherhood of the Wolf" and stars a scantily clad Mark Dacascos (yum!).
Darkside Blues (movie)GoodWeird stuff happens. There's lots of unexplained backstory hinted at that I really wish was filled in.
Fighting Spirit (TV)
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (US CG movie)WeakBoring.
Flame of Recca (TV)DecentFigting anime. It seemed very derivative.
FLCL (OAV)GoodNeed to watch sometime with a sub that isn't translated from the Japanese via Chinese.
Fruits Basket (TV)Very goodThe climactic ending of the anime is like volume 5 of the manga. I liked it but it is really sappy.
Full Metal Panic! (TV)Very good
Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (TV)ExcellentMuch lighter than FMP.
Fullmetal Alchemist (TV)ExcellentAll Kickass women all the time. OK, sometimes there's the bishy Ed and his boss Roy but it's really all about the women.
Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo (TV)GoodAt a 1000+ pages a lot of the detail gets omitted when "The Count of Monte Cristo" is translated to the screen. The makers of Gankutsuou have solved that by starting in the middle with Festivale in Venice, except it's actually on the Moon because this is the far future. Very different technique used for clothing and backgrounds. THis is the first, and only so far, anime I have seen where the rich folk's homes actually look opulent.
Gasaraki (TV)So-soSomething about giant robots and extraterrestrials and being possessed and cloning ... My husband says that in the interest of full disclosure I must admit that while I sat through all episodes, some of them several times, I wasn't necessarily conscious the entire time.
Gate Keepers (TV)Good
Gate Keepers 21 (OAV)Decent
Generator Gawl (TV)Good
Genshiken (TV)Excellent
Geobreeders (OAV)So-so
Getbackers (TV)Some episodes are really good but then they go and chibify Ginji and make me grind my teeth.
Ghost in the Shell (movie)Good
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (movie)So-so
(The) Gokusen (TV)Good
Great Teacher Onizuka (TV)GoodBowdlerized from the manga but still entertaining.
Grenadier (TV)DecentOff put by the enormous bosoms (we're talking basketball size) but captured by the opening battle between soldiers with feudal weaponry and guys with modern guns.
GTO: The Movie (live-action)Decent
Gungrave (TV)DecentThe love story of two gangsters. They have a falling out but their love transcends death.

There is a rat-faced guy, Gary, who'd be played by Steve Buscemi in the live action movie, who I kept expecting to betray Brandon just because of his looks. In an American show or most anime he would have been the turncoat. Gungave gets points for Gary being less bad than most of the characters.
Hajime no Ippo - Champion Road (special)
Hajime no Ippo - Mashiba vs. Kimura (OAV)
Hellsing (TV)Good
Hikaru no Go (TV)Very good
Hikaru No Go: New Year SpecialVery good
Howl's Moving Castle (movie)ExcellentHaven't seen the sub yet but it's Miyazaki.
Initial D (TV)Good
Initial D (live-action movie)Decentsee my review at NotComingSoon.com.
Initial D: Fourth Stage (TV)Decent
Initial D: Second Stage (TV)Decent
Initial D: Third Stage (movie)Good
Inuyasha (TV)Very good
Inuyasha the Movie 2: The Castle Beyond the Looking GlassDecent
InuYasha the Movie 3: Swords of an Honorable RulerGoodMore satisfying than the next one!
Inuyasha the Movie 4: Fire on the Mystic IslandWeakDidn't find it as satisfying as the sword one. One of the problems was they just put Sess in without him interacting with any of the Inu Tachi. It was plain he was added because of his fan base and no other reason. They should have just left him out. There was one good line. Clay!Kikyo scolds Inuyasha for not wanting to kill a clone of the original Kikyo, "an abomination" (the clone that is). I thought, "There speaks the pot."
Inuyasha the Movie: Affections Touching Across TimeGoodStrangely addictive.
(The) Irresponsible Captain Tylor (TV)Very goodLeast shots fired in a climactic space battle between two immense armadas. So, is Tylor just lucky or is he superlatively cunning?
Jing: King of Bandits (TV)Very good
Jubei-chan - Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch (TV)GoodJubei is infested with the spirit of Yagyu Jubei. The only magical girl anime I've seen where the girl is more covered after her transformation. Very enjoyable.
Jubei-Chan 2: The Counter Attack of Siberia Yagyu (TV)GoodYagyu Jubei's daughter is pissed that she didn't inherit the lovely eyepatch.
Karas (OAV)Decent
Kaze no Yojimbo (TV)GoodStarted out a little measured for my taste but I have become accustomed as the plot becomes more intricate.
Kiddy Grade (TV)Good
Kiki's Delivery Service (movie)Very good
King of Bandit Jing in Seventh Heaven (OAV)Very goodGood but hard to follow which makes it a lot like the manga.
Knight Hunters (TV)Decent
Knight Hunters Eternity (TV)Decent
L/R: Licensed by Royalty (TV)Not really goodGood music. Duff show.
Last Exile (TV)ExcellentGorgeous and an ending that is actually comprehensible.
Legend of Basara (TV)GoodAnother anime that cuts off abruptly without resolving the story.
Lime-iro Senkitan (TV)So-so
Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart to Hades (live-action movie)Who wouldn't want a perabulator with scythes on the wheels and built in pole-arms?
Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance (live-action movie)Who wouldn't want a perabulator with scythes on the wheels and built in pole-arms?
Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro (movie)

Master of Mosquiton (OAV)
Metropolis (movie)
Mezzo (TV)
Mezzo Forte (OAV)
Monster (TV)ExcellentWaiting to get all episodes before watching. Have seen the first 30 or so. Grim yet riveting.
My Neighbor Totoro (movie)
Naruto Special: Akaki Yotsuba no Clover wo Sagase (OAV)
NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind (movie)
Neon Genesis Evangelion (TV)
One Piece Special: Adventure in the Ocean's Navel
One Piece: Chinjou Shima no Chopper Oukoku (movie 3)
One Piece: Dead End no Bouken (movie 4)
One Piece: Nejimaki Shima no Bouken (movie 2)
One Piece: Norowareta Seiken (movie 5)
One Piece: Omatsuri Danshaku to Himitsu no Shima (movie 6)
One Piece: The Movie
Orphen (TV)
Otogi Zoshi (TV)Good
Outlaw Star (TV)
Planetes (TV)ExcellentA space anime without robots. It's about whether space exploration is worth the cost in lives. It is about who should reap the wealth to be found. It's about whether white collar or blue collar jobs are more important. That makes it sound dry but Planetes isn't. Seriously, this is one of the best shows ever.
Porco Rosso (movie)Masterpiece
Pretear (TV)Fairly typical Magical Girl anime.
(The) Prince of Tennis: A Day on Survival Mountain (OAV)Decent
(The) Princess Blade (live-action movie 2001)Weak
Princess Mononoke (movie)
R.O.D -The TV-
Read or Die (OAV)
Requiem from the Darkness (TV)
Rurouni Kenshin (TV)
S-CRY-ed (TV)
Saiyuki (TV)
Samurai Champloo (TV)
Samurai Deeper Kyo (TV)I enjoyed this but they wrapped up a story in 26 episodes for a manga that is on its 30+ volume and still going.
Samurai X: The Motion Picture
Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal (OAV)
Shura no Toki: Age of Chaos (TV)Each story arc concerns a different generation of the Mutsu family and there interactions with history except the Meiji Restoration arc has turned into "I Love Sakamoto Ryoma". Oddly cheerful considering the amount of death and dismemberment.
(The) SoulTaker (TV)
Speed Grapher (TV)DecentNicely done goodish guys, bad guys and really, really evil guys.
Spiral (TV)
Steamboy (movie)So-so
(The) Super Dimension Fortress Macross (TV)
Tactics (TV)Good
Tenchi in Tokyo (TV)
Tenjho Tenge (TV)Decent
Trigun (TV)Excellent
(The) Twelve Kingdoms (TV)Decent
Vandread (TV)Good
Vandread: The Second Stage (TV)Good
Volcano High (live-action movie)
Whisper of the Heart (movie)
Witch Hunter Robin (TV)
Wolf's Rain (TV)It was never really clear to me whether the wolves human forms were an illusion or what. Sometimes they seemed to be an illusion sometimes the wolves seemed to have physically changed. This irritated me.
Wolf's Rain (OAV)Downer ending, I think. I couldn't really follow what the heck happened.
X (movie)Bad
Yu Yu Hakusho The Movie: Poltergeist Report
Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files (TV)ExcellentThe king of all juvenile delinquent dies and saves the world animes.
Yu Yu Hakusho: The Movie

Will not finishComment
(The) Big O (TV)Saw it on Cartoon Network. Not impressed enough to seek out the remainder.
Blue Submarine No.6 (OAV)Saw this on Cartoon Network. Saw all they showed but got the feeling it was abridged and not interested enough to seek out remainder.
Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (TV)Too frenetic for a fogey like me. Also, much of the humor seems to be in the labels on stuff which they don't translate on Cartoon Network. I would give a sub a try.
Case Closed (TV)I just prefer ongoing story arcs and find it annoying that after all these years Conan is still stuck in chibi form.
Crying Freeman (OAV)This follows the manga fairly closely from what I recall. Yoh has been brainwashed to be an assassin but subconsciously he hates it and weeps at every hit. Even after he becomes the leader of the organization and has random amorous encounters with his wife and others.
Excel Saga (TV)Too frenetic and laboriously humorous.
Fushigi Yƻgi - The Mysterious Play (TV)Couldn't stand protagonist's voice in either sub or dub. Couldn't stand the broad lame, humor.
(The) Galaxy Railways (TV)MST3K worthy.
Green Green (TV)Hentai not to my tastes.
Key the Metal Idol (OAV)Just lame.
Lost Universe (TV)Not that intetested in the characters.
Lupin III (TV)Didn't age well.
Magic Knight Rayearth (TV)3 girls get pulled into another world and take the word of the first person they meet; just what I teach my kid not to do.
Noir (TV)You wouldn't think a series, with good music, about two female assassins in Paris could get boring. It does.
Peacemaker (TV)I did not find the characters interesting.
Pokemon - Mewtwo Returns (special)Slept through it at cinema. Don't need to see it again.
Reign: The Conqueror (TV)Saw it on Cartoon Network. Not impressed enough to seek out the remainder.
Sailor Moon (TV)Just not interested enough to seek out later seasons.
Saint Tail (TV)Overtly preachy.
Serial Experiments Lain (TV)At the time I was watching this, I had to buy it to watch it and I just wasn't that interested.
Shaman King (TV)Saw all the Saturday morning dub and enjoyed it but not enough to seek out the sub to see what I might have missed.
Speed Racer (TV)Didn't age well.
Tokyo Pig (TV)The Saturday morning dub was actually pretty good but they only did the one season.
Wandaba Style (TV)Too frenetic and laboriously humorous. Not even as good as Excel.
