I think I'm a bit spoiled with Ghibli movies, but compared to masterpieces such as Kiki's Delivery Service, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, this one has a quite meager story. Not bad, but I had the feeling that I already had seen more of the same... and better. |

The Animatrix series is best viewed after you've seen at least the first part of the live-action triology. In this part, the stunning artwork gives you the impression of a deleted scene of the original. It's a pity that the story is a bit too thin to support the art. |

No, it's not for children, and yes, it's part of the protagonist's responsibility, but all those discussions passes over the fact that this is a splendid movie, wonderfully drawn, which depicts the problems that arose after the bombing of Japan in WW2. It's not about who is wrong and who is right, but about what war does with people. Must see ! |

Like in most hentai movies, the sex is quite gratuitous. Take it away and, oh wonder, you have a decent detective movie, with intriguing mystery elements. The drawings are good and the plot enjoyable. Nice to watch if you don't bother the ecchi parts (press forward to skip them). |

Often heard, but the more true in this anime : "The book was better than the movie". Miyazaki reached the summit of manga storytelling in the seven volume epic. The movie only shows the first quarter of it. I was just longing for the better parts of the story, when the ending credits started. Next time I'll watch the anime first.
The movie itself is not that bad. The main idea of protecting the earth's resources and the friendship between human (Nausicaa) and animals (ohmu) is very well depicted in this intriguing movie. Although not the best of Miyazaki's, it's worth seing it. It's not Disney's Bambi, but rather a good Lion king. |

Good ideas mix with lame jokes, but overall, this is an enjoyable series with lots of fun. The, most memorable part to me is the live-action appearance of the indian joker (I hope that's part of the original anime, and not only in my version) with jokes so stupid that you can't stop laughing. |

The basic premise is simple : tanukis being driven away from their homeland by the humans, a situation that is not uncommon in today's world. Touching ! But maybe I expected too much from this movie, and given the fact that a high cultural background on Japanese mythology is needed, it was a difficult movie to follow.
Excellent for story and artwork, minus points for storytelling, which leans a bit too much to documentary style.

I rated this movie "bad" but you should at least see part of the movie, just to find out how bad ideas can turn into bad movies, with bad acting and even worse special effects.
It would do well as a Monty Python sketch, not as an action movie. A classic. |

After I've seen The Matrix, a lot of questions remain. This movie answers at least one of them : the origin of The Matrix. Some parts are better than others, but the story makes it up for the whole movie. Don't miss this part. |
