12 years since the impressive TV series, a new telling of the story of Renton and Eureka will begin as a theatrical film trilogy.

The “Eureka Seven” TV series was aired in 2005. A boy named Renton meets Eureka and sets off on his journey. The story won the sympathy of a large audience, and the series came to be a leading representative of the works produced in the 2000s.

In 2009, the film “Eureka Seven - good night, sleep tight, young lovers” was a big hit, earning a box office of 100 million yen in a short period of time, despite the film being only shown at 6 theaters. In 2012, its sequel, “EUREKA SEVEN AO” was aired on TV and became a big hit, selling 850,000 Blu-ray and DVD units in total.

“Eureka Seven” is characterized by the way it has been developed in a mix of various media, which includes not only the animation, the music and comics, but also the slot machine in a pachinko parlor. “Pachi-slo Koukyou-Shihen Eureka Seven” (Pachinko Parlor's Slot Eureka Seven) sold 120,000 machines in total. This year sees the launch of the new Pachi-slot machines for “Pachi-slo EUREKA SEVEN AO”. The presence of Eureka Seven does not fade even now.

Now in 2017, “Eureka Seven: Hi - Evolution” will begin. Keep an eye on the story of Renton and Eureka starting in the new trilogy.

The trilogy features newly evolved visuals and story, and it also depicts the “First Summer of Love”, which is the beginning of the whole story.

The main plot of “Eureka Seven: Hi - Evolution” focuses on the story of the protagonist, Renton and the heroine, Eureka. Everything originates from a big incident, called the “First Summer of Love”, which shocked the world 10 years before the main plot. The “First Sumner of Love” is the incident which was mentioned but not fully depicted in the “Eureka Seven” TV series. It will finally be shown in full.

As this incident at “the beginning of it all” is revealed, the story will evolve and develop extensively. The theatrical trilogy finds every line of the script reconceived and new visuals and newly reworked visuals that are structured to go with it. The story will head toward a new ending that nobody knows.

The original staff has returned. Moreover, Hardfloor has joined the production with its new tune.

To reboot “Eureka Seven”, the original staff has returned: chief director Tomoki Kyoda, screenplay writer Dai Sato, and character designer Kenichi Yoshida. The new trilogy is neither a remake nor a remix, but a new project that the three of them, bringing their accumulated experiences over 12 years, are working on. This is “Eureka Seven: Hi - Evolution”.

The new tune by a German techno music unit, Hardfloor, symbolizes the trilogy's kind of newness. The word, “Acperience”, appears a couple of times in some episode titles of the “Eureka Seven” original TV series. ‘Acperince’ comes from a famous coined word which appeared in Hardfloor's music. “Eureka Seven: Hi - Evolution” will evolve itself through its music, with new tune “Acperience 7” presented in the soundtrack.

Story

The major earth-shaking which shocked the world 10 years ago. The “First Summer of Love” happened.

Renton, who lost his father in the incident, now goes to the army school of the United Federation of Predgio Towers located in the border town of Bellforest.

His deceased father is a revered hero. Renton's life is full of boring days without excitement.

All those things around him suffocate him.

Then the world's oldest LFO, Nirvash, appears before Renton. Eureka shows up, emerging from the cockpit.

The meeting of Eureka and Renton is somewhere between coincidence and destiny. It is the beginning of a chain of events that will determine the future of the human race and of another intelligent lifeform that is Scub Coral.

Where will the journey of Renton and Eureka lead?

Chief Director: Tomoki Kyoda
“This could be a sort of reunion. Please make yourself comfortable when you come to see this. We created this to be easygoing.”

Screenplay: Dai Sato
“To us, “Eureka Seven” should not be a title for which we feel nostalgia. We'd like to create a “Eureka Seven” which does not betray the fans who used to be influenced by “Eureka Seven”, and which newer fans find cutting-edge at the same time.”

Character Design: Kenichi Yoshida
“When working on the “Eureka Seven” TV series, I was designing the characters with the mindset that we want to challenge the world. I had an ambition to broaden the richness of animation character designs. Now that 10 years passed since then, I feel that it is meaningful to bring in the designs again that we used to create “Eureka Seven”.
