Introduction

Goro Taniguchi, Makoto Fukami, Sunao Chikaoka, and Shirogumi -- these creative minds team up to bring you a story about a group of children caught up in a terrible disaster!

On that day, seven years ago, she told us something.
She said that someday a great disaster would come, and I was the only one who could protect everyone. Nobody believed her, but every day I train hard and protect the friends that I care about.

One day, as if my efforts had been recognized me and four of my friends got a message:
Yes, the time of her prophecy has come!

revisions will be directed by Goro Taniguchi, whose Planetes (winner of the 36th Seiun Award) and Code Geass works have enchanted anime fans all over the world. Scriptwriting and series composition will be done by Makoto Fukami, who deftly brought out the contrasts between the character's daily lives and the darkness they experienced in Psycho-Pass. Original character designs will be handled by Sunao Chikaoka, who brought a soft touch to his detailed art in Wake Up, Girls! The animation production will be done by Shirogumi, who have created many moving works like The Eternal Zero and Always – Sunset on Third Street.

Story

"This is a prophecy.
Someday, the five of you will be put into terrible danger.
And, when that happens, you're the only one who can protect everyone."

Daisuke Dojima, a second-year student in high school who was kidnapped when he was younger, experiences a strange phenomenon along with his friends Gai, Lu, Marimari, and Keisaku: "Shibuya Adrift." The center of the city of Shibuya is transported more than 300 years into the future. The people sent with it find nothing there but vast waste lands and forests, dotted with ruins and hostile beings called "revisions" that control massive mechanical monsters. As the monsters tear through Shibuya, someone appears to save the people: a girl named Milo, who has the same name as the person who helped Daisuke when he was kidnapped. To add to it all, she looks exactly like her, too. She gives Daisuke and his friends weapons called "String Puppets" that they can pilot, and tells them to protect Shibuya. Daisuke has spent his whole life believing in the prophecy that Milo gave him when he was kidnapped, and he's overjoyed that the time has come at last, and that he's gained new power. However, the kidnapping incident tore the five childhood friends apart so long ago.

An isolated city. An unknown enemy. An uncertain past and a prophecy of the future. The children fight the "future" to bring back the "present". No matter what, they're going home...

Character Names & Descriptions

Daisuke Dojima

Voice: Kōki Uchiyama

A 17-year-old, second-year student at Seisho Academy. After being kidnapped as a child, he was saved by a mysterious woman named Milo, who told him, "You will be visited by a terrible danger. When that happens, you'll be the only one who can protect everyone." He blindly believed her words, and has spent the majority of his life preparing for that moment. None of his other friends believe him though he has become a social outcast. However, he refuses to change his beliefs, and won't listen to what anyone else says.

Milo

Voice: Mikako Komatsu

A descendant of humanity from the far future, which has been destroyed by a pandemic. She is one of the few humans who was resistant to the revisions. Milo is also an agent called a "Balancer" who works for the organization AHRV, which protects the future where humanity still survives. She has strong feelings of hatred toward the revisions for their massacres of AHRV's members, and devotes herself to the organization entirely. Emotionally inexpressive, she lives a to-the-books, orderly life.

Chang Gai Steiner

Voice: Nobunaga Shimazaki

A 17-year-old, second-year student at Seisho Academy and Lu's twin brother. He is an excellent student, and athletic as well. He dislikes Daisuke for the childish way he's acting now that his dream of being a hero is coming true. But in fact, just like Daisuke, he remembers the prophecy Milo gave him: "Doubt everything." He has the capability to be a cool and collected leader, a talent he puts to good use in the S.D.S. (Shibuya Defense Service).

Chang Lu Steiner

Voice: Rie Takahashi

Gai's 17-year-old twin sister. Just like her brother, she's good at sports and gets excellent grades. Strong on the outside, inside she is dependent on her brother, and follows him everywhere. Just like her brother, she is aggravated by Daisuke's overprotective nature, and keeps her distance from him. The only member of the team who doesn't remember Milo's prophecy.

Marin Temari

Voice: Manaka Iwami

A 17-year-old, second-year student at Seisho Academy who is Daisuke's classmate. She goes by the nickname "Marimari". Easygoing and cheerful, she's beloved by her classmates, but she is also indecisive and lacking in confidence. Milo's prophecy to her -- "In the end, you'll need to decide for yourself" -- weighs on her heavily. She's been in love with Daisuke since childhood, but in the future world she has complicated feelings about the way he behaves as a "hero".

Keisaku Asano

Voice: Sōma Saitō

A 17-year-old second-year student at Seisho Academy. Daisuke's one real friend, and the only person who understands him. He acts as a buffer between Daisuke—who tends to act on his own--and the S.D.S. He's always chipper and upbeat, but at the same time self-effacingly says that he "has no luck." He clearly remembers Milo's words to him from the kidnapping incident -- "Accept everything" -- and for this reason, it kind of seems like he's given up.

Mukyu Isurugi

Voice: Yukari Tamura

A revisions who wears a gothic lolita maid outfit, and has dog ears and a tail. She has a sadistic personality, and shows no mercy to the people of Shibuya. She outranks Nicolas, and thus treats him very harshly, but she's very kind to her twin sister Chiharu.

Chiharu Isurugi

Voice: Yōko Hikasa

A beautiful revisions with dog ears and a tail. Always calm and relaxed, she's very arrogant towards the people of Shibuya. She believes she is fulfilling a great duty for the sake of her fellow revisions. She is Mukyu's younger twin sister.

Nicholas Sato

Voice: Hochu Otsuka

A revisions that resembles a stuffed dog. His full name is "Sugar Nicho of Laos," but nobody bothers to remember it. He has a carefree personality and enjoys not taking things too seriously. Chiharu and Mukyu slightly outrank him, and the two look down upon him.

S.D.S.

Short for the Shibuya Defense Service. A defense organization established by the Shibuya Provisional Government after the spacetime disaster. It is under the control of the police, and organized around Daisuke Dojima. Milo, Chang Kai Steiner, Chang Lu Steiner, Mari Temari, and Keisaku Asano all belong to it as well.
