Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children joins Howl's Moving Castle and Steamboy at the Venice International Film Festival

Square Enix has announced a special preview edition of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will screen at the Venice International Film Festival.

Advent Children will not screen as a part of the Venezia 61 for the Golden Lion (Howl's Moving Castle is competing for the Golden Lion), but Rather as a part of Venezia Digitale, a special section "intended to provide an overview of the new expressive possibilities granted by the new digital technologies. Only feature-length films made using digital technology and never publicly screened outside their country of origin and in Italy will be presented." The only other Japanese movie screening as a part of Venezia Digitale is Takashi Shimizu's Marebito.

In all, eight Japanese movies are set to be screened at the film festival, of which Steamboy, Howl's Moving Castle and Advent Children are the only anime. Movies from 28 different countries will be screened.

The festival runs from September 1st to 11th in Venice, Italy.
