| Yeah, to be frank, the end of the anime - spoiler[you know, where everyone dies, including Shuji and Chise] basically closed off whatever storyline this could have had. 13 episodes was enough. An OAV seems like a crass money-grabbing attempt. We'll see, I s'pose. | ||||

| Of course, the OAVs don't neccessarily have to be a continuation. They could just be more like...sidestories of earlier situations between Chise, Shuji, and their friends. | ||||

EVERYTHING FILMED WITH REAL CAMERAS AND REAL PEOPLE IS TERRIBLE You know, I'm actually looking forward to the live-action film. Body horror is a hard thing to pull of with animation/comic art, and I never liked the character designs anyways. |

I don't think so but Saikano is just gonna be a pain in the ass to pull off as a live action. Infact the only show that did the transition successfully Was GTO. |

| As long as they have a high budget and a talented director, there shouldn't be much of a problem. And while I haven't seen it yet, Cutie Honey has been getting some pretty good reviews. | ||||

| Care to define a high budget and talented director? Because by the Hollywood standards that I know, unless the movie is definitely going to gross $100,000,000+, I doubt that it'll get both, or even one. | ||||

| Cutey Honey probobly worked because it didn't need amazing effects and it had a talented director who knew how to work around the low budget (plus its the kind of show that could probobly work without great special effects). I think Saikano would need better effects if it wanted to get the full effect, but thats just my opinion. | ||||

| A Saikano movie would really need some good effects...The actors will need to act really well, and the computerized effects will need to cost money...Also, we can't forget...How are they going to continue with the story? (Unless it's gonna be something as what Liancoop said...
Don't get me wrong, I'll really be waiting for and watch it, but I can't predict if it'll be cool or sucking... |

| I bet nobody hear even heard shit about The Devil Man movie with all those crazy effect. It looks really good and I can't wait to get it on DVD. A anime turn into live action isn't impossible or horrible. Someone mention GTO being the best, yet he/she probably don't' know shit about live series in japan other then the one they fansubbed.
So will it be a live action? Perhaps. So will a saikano live movie be possible if they use CG? Yes. Will it suck? Nobody knows, unless they seen it stop saying how much it will suck or how it's goin to ruin the tv series. |

So the only criteria for a good live action film is a high budget and a talented director? I can see your justification for the second one, but not the first. Not all good films have to have a high budget. There are some *amazing* films out there shot on a low budget, and some *awful awful awful* films shot on a high budget. There's nothing about Saikano that says that it'll automatically be bad, mediocre, or undoable if it's live action, high budget or not. Let's wait until it's done first before we say anything. | What? Many of my favorite films are low or no budget. I was just saying that a live-action Saikano film would need a high budget, just because of the nature of the story. The reason why most good low budget films work is because they focus on character interaction above all else, so they don't need expensive sets, tricky camerawork, or any destructive sequences. Occasionally a great low budget action movie like El Mariachi will come out of left field, but that's pretty rare. Anyways, I'm kind of touchy about bad special effects right now, since I watched Dragonball: The Magic Begins last night. It still hurts.
And of course there are many other factors that go towards making a great movie, but I'll be looking forward to it as long as they can afford decent special effects and don't get a hack director. Actors I'm not so worried about, since a talented director can get good performances out of even the worst actors (example: Punch Drunk Love). Although even Bernardo Bertolucci couldn't get Keanu Reaves to emote, so maybe there are some lost causes out there... |
