I just noticed it now, but why is US based anime news on the UK boards?

I wondered the same - Borders here shut shop ages ago (and hadn't been here long at that) ^^;

Well there goes the last one I can think of in the Boston area.

Guess it's about time to scavenge and pick that one's bones clean like the horrible person I am. I don't even know what I got with that silly freebie Borders rewards card I always used.

It sucks for people out of a job but between libraries, Amazon, eBooks, and places like Wal-Mart selling books, I don't know how any brick and mortar bookstore plans on surviving for much longer unless there is a radical change in how these retailers approach the bookstore experience.

Trying to compete on price, selection and even immediacy isn't going to cut it.

Only store in my area that closed on the list was in Birmingham,MI and it's a two floor store. I think they should have kept at least one of the stores open in Detroit Metro Airport. It's sad that this is happening.

Please remember. Not all of these stores will close. These are just the stores whose landlords have not signed the extensions necessary. Borders HAD to list them to fulfill one of the DIP requirements for the bankruptcy. Some of the stores were in the process of having papers signed, some were in final negotiations, and some the landlords were just not going to budge.
