YES! I've been waiting for this one.

Now all they need to do is bring over Kino's Journey: Life Goes on and Episode 0

Hold it! So it's NOT going to be dubbed at all?

I guess ADV doesn't want to risk making a crappy dub like Voices of the Distant Star (darn you Steven Foster).

The ratings seem pretty good on this site. I wouldn't mind paying less for a version that's just subbed, actually.

Same here: though I perfectly understand some persons like dubbed versions, a sub one is more than enough for me. Also, this movie truely rocks as-is and doesn't need a dub to be more enjoyable IMO Cool

I eagerly wait for the release Very Happy

The acting was indeed good (though Adam Conlon had me questioning a bit). The script changes, however; were just way too significant.

I also thought the English performances were just fine; I've watched it several times both ways and think the dub actually has a little more emotional appeal (although it's saddled with a lack of translation of on-screen text).

As for the script changes, I once did a line-by-line comparison between the subs and the dubs. Granted, the English script isn't as tight as it could be, but it isn't that far off. Virtually every scene retains the essential meaning of the original dialogue, and I'd rather have that in a dub than a literal translation which sounds awkward in English.

That never stopped them before. I happened to like Voices of a Distant Star dub. After "Strange Dawn" nothing can sound that bad in English. Rolling Eyes

Um, I might have misread the article, but where exactly does it say that ADV won't be doing an english dub of it? Everything I've read on the subject (which isn't much, to tell the truth) only says that they'd be releasing it in North America. There's nothing about what kind of release it'll be getting.

I can't wait for the DVD release of this. I saw a subbed verison some time ago and I just loved this movie. Hopefully it won't be a long wait for the DVD release.

Now that you mention it, I think they're referring to this. I believe ADV used to theatrically show the movies in Japanese with English subtitles first, and then they dub it in English for the DVD release. That's what they did for A Tree of Palme, right?

I guess I'm stuck in a limb. Anime hyper
