They're both legit as far as I know. The only difference is you'll get your CD shipped from Japan in one case and from Hong Kong in the other case. I've dealt with Yesasia many times and have always gotten my stuff.

I might have gotten a Juvenile Orion poster from them years ago. I dunno how wall scrolls work, like if authenticity is a big deal as figures, but I wouldn't be surprised if Chinese-made ones (like not commissioned by Japanese companies) are in the market.

Thanks for the feedback, that's good to hear about Yesasia. Very Happy And as for the scrolls, I honestly wouldn't be surprised either.

Still nothing from Anime Wild, so I'll be contacting them...

I thought I'd post some feedback on a couple of retailers I've dealt with recently. To my surprise, I'd found that One Piece Season 2 Fifth Voyage, the next set I needed, was bizarrely next-to-impossible to track down; all the other sets are easily available pretty much anywhere, often for very cheap. None of the usual sites had that particular set available, and even the used prices on Amazon were over $100. I happened to see this thread, and I decided to check out a few of the retailers mentioned in it, to see if any of the smaller ones might have it in stock. I first found a copy on Power Anime, so I tried placing an order there. However, I received an e-mail the next day stating that they actually didn't have any more copies available. They kindly gave me the option of taking store credit or cancelling my order; I chose the latter, and it was cancelled immediately.

I then decided to try Anime Depot, since the title was listed there too...I was a bit apprehensive about the lack of "In Stock" display, but I figured it was worth a shot. I put the order in, and after a bit more than a week, I hadn't heard anything besides the initial confirmation e-mail. I sent an e-mail to the address indicated to check on order status, and I got a response a day or two later. Apparently the site's staff (I'd assume it's only a couple of people) were attending a few cons in a row, so that's why my order hadn't been shipped out sooner; however, there was a copy reserved for me, and the person I spoke with said that they'd send it out as soon as they got back, sometime around the 14th of this month. It took a couple of days after that, enough that I was thinking about sending another e-mail, but I finally received the shipping notice earlier today.

So even though I didn't order anything from Power Anime, I was very impressed with their customer service, and I'd probably order from them in the future if they had something I couldn't find at my go-to sites. (They seem to have a very extensive figurine listing, including imports, but I'm not really interested in those myself.) The process with Anime Depot has taken a while, though most of that seems to be a result of my order catching them at a bad time. Provided my shipment gets here in one piece (lulz?), I'd probably do business with them in the future too.

(Also, it hardly needs any more recommendations at this point, but I've been shopping at TRSI for years and love the heck out of them.)

I also recently ordered some Hetalia merchandise, from Anime Wild using Amazon. I ordered them on September 6th and the delivery estimate is the 12th-15th. Yet the order is still marked as "Shipping Soon". Hmmmm...

The situation with Anime Wild has been settled. I contacted them using Amazon's seller e-mail system and received speedy service. I had ordered two items, but it turns out that one was back ordered, so I canceled that particular item. (Apparently, their computer didn't update their Amazon listing.) Regardless, the other item was shipped to me and all is well. Very Happy

I would like to talk about an issue that I had with the amazon seller Discount Giant which sells some anime on their storefront but they do sell other things. Anyways, they had a copy of Future GPX Cyber Formula used that I wanted. The item was listed as Good which was fine for me. So one day the item shows and up well to say I was not happy when I got the item is an understatement.

First the the huge slip cover was heavily damaged. Torn in some spots had a bunch of tape all over it and part of the image ripped off. Then the worst part was that one of the DVD's was FAR from good condition. It was scratched and beyond playable or salvageable.

It looks like I can get a refund through Amazon since it was a fulfillment by amazon order, but this whole process has left a bad taste in my mouth with this group. There is a huge difference between an item in good condition and an item that is basically unsellable.

I can safely say that Discount Seller will not be getting my business again.

I'm not calling out a retailer for this post, but instead, the distributor Sentai Filmworks.

My three seasons of Koihime Muso came in yesterday, so I was excited to watch them in better clarity than I found on Crunchyroll.

What I was not expecting was the verbatim copy, word-for-word, error-for-error rip of translation from Crunchyroll's own subtitling.

I don't mind the yellow text subtitling, but if they were going to go to this level of ripping off the translation, they could have at least taken the better font as well.

Personally, this now ends my relationship with Section23/Sentai Filmworks when it comes to subtitled products. This is an industry whining and crying about lost sales and they expect us to pay good money for this blatant, inexcusable work as quality.

I've better things to spend my money on. Good job, Sentai Filmworks, for driving another customer away.

Now, it's time to send them a letter and telling them the same.

That was brought up in the review, along with something else that'll probably piss you off even more:
Quote:
Sentai Filmworks opted not to dub this one and includes only clean opener and closer for Extras, though they did also include the associated OVA episode. Although all of the content presented in this release is uncensored, some controversy has arisen over whether or not this is truly the most uncensored version of the series, as scene from episodes 9 and 10 both use SD artwork in places where the Japanese DVD releases apparently used regular artwork and more involved nude scenes; for instance, the breast competition between Rin Rin and Shouren happens entirely off camera in this release but was fully detailed in the Japanese release. Controversy has also erupted over the release due to Sentai apparently using the error-riddled subtitles from the original Crunchyroll stream of the series. Regardless of whether the subtitles were borrowed or created in-house – and the lack of any mention of a Subtitle Editor in the English credits suggests the former – they represent one of the worst examples of basic text editing to date on an anime DVD release, as nearly every episode has multiple instances of basic grammar mistakes, stuff that should have been caught on even a casual editing pass.

It's not the first time they've used TV sources instead of DVD ones, which result in censoring (Papillion Rose).

I'm not upset at a scene or two missing from the original. I suppose you can say that since I didn't know of it beforehand, it obviously took nothing away from a purchase. Who can blame them when we have [attacks not allowed] on this site who'd instantly think the scenes are child pornography. Imagine if Erin wrote the review.

I'm crafting my letter to Sentai right now, trying my best not to embellish a great scene from Christmas Vacation when Griswold discovers a "jelly of the month club" in lieu of a bonus.

At the same time, remaining calm and to the point isn't easy.

It truly sucks to find out about this stuff after the fact. I didn't even know Key reviewed it. How the hell did I miss all this!!

Well Eric did talk about the show on Shelf Life

Quote:
Koihime Musō is sexually frustrating to watch. Between the high budget and nicely designed buxom characters, Koihime Musō would be one of the greatest hentai series of all time if it were hentai. Unfortunately, as ecchi, this series just serves as a long advertisement for a videogame (or visual novel or whatever). There is nothing in the world I want to watch less than a 325 minute commercial for a videogame I don't intend to play.

Notice I said I enjoyed the buxom character design; this show could do without the half-dozen flat-chested under-age young ladies. I suspect one reason this isn't hentai is because so many young looking characters would make this series contraband in several countries. Don't get me wrong, I think if you took the children out of this show (or made them older) and made the series more explicit, I just might give it a Shelf Worthy.

Not surprising I didn't know. The second I see she's doing a write-up on a series featuring an underage character, I find something better to read since I already know the outcome. The quote you provided from the article comes at no surprise.

Okay, I have a question regarding JustManga.com:

I'm looking to purchase volumes 5 and 8 of The Land of The Blindfolded by Sakura Tsukuba, originally published by CMX.

My problem is that for vol. 5 I'm replacing an older ver. of the book with a newer, edited version CMX released later to correct some translation errors they made (most notably swapping Tsukuba-sensei's first and last names on the cover). The preview image JM gives for vol. 5 on their site is for the older version, so I'm unsure if I'll receive the revised version or the older version (I already own the older), so I'm hesitant to buy them together. I don't know JM's return policies if I'm unsatisfied with my purchase.

Can anyone tell me if I can find out which version they're most likely to ship, given that this is an out-of-print title? Or if there's anyway I can contact them to specify which one I'd want?

I'd be so very very appreciative of any help in this! LOTB is a title I was introduced to just before CMX went under and it's remained one of my favorite shoujo manga ever since. Only now do I have the means to buy the entire series and I'm worried the longer I wait the harder it'll be to complete my collection.

A while ago, I attacked RACS for its outlandish pricing of the Rachel Alucard figure, going well and above SRP, trying to capitalize on a false sense of scarcity (it's remained on the shelf at the asking price).

I'm here to offer a compromise in forgiveness as the recent sale of figures the store ran was so awesome, I absolutely hated the fact it was ambushed on me as I had spent my money on other things since most Black Friday offerings sucked.

While I many not have capitalized greatly, I'm sure as hell not complaining on what I did score.

Here's to hoping Robert plays Santa again one more time between now and the 24th.

This time, I will be ready.

I agree. I've placed over 20 orders and have had no issues so far up to this point.

Has anyone here besides the people who posted about it earlier in the thread had any dealings with Anime Wild? There's an out-of-print title listed on there that I'd like to have a go at, but the only payment option listed when I go to check out is something like "Promotional Coupons." They don't mention this anywhere else on their site that I can see, so I'm curious as to what it entails exactly. I sent a message via their customer service form, so I'll see if I can eke a response out of them.

On another note, even though I had a successful dealing with Anime Depot in the past, I'd probably have to advise against them for anything that isn't a currently-sold product. I tried ordering the same out-of-print set from them, one that was listed on their site, and they quickly sent an e-mail back saying that they didn't have it and were unable to get it. It's kind of frustrating that they don't seem to have proper inventory-management in place. The funny thing is, when I did successfully purchase a title from them in the past, I wound up getting a call from one of the employees saying they were sorry that they hadn't been able to find it...except that I'd already received it a few weeks prior. Very Happy Apparently I got the last copy they had.

I hope this is the right place to put this, but I am having some concerns about buying stuff from a certain website. I was googling around for a rather hard to find item and discovered that they had it for much cheaper than anyone on the Amazon Marketplace. At first, I was excited, but I figured that I should look around before giving them my money.

The website is animeharu.com and looking around, I found other things that I would like for seemingly low prices, successfully arousing my suspicions. For example: the complete collection of Cardcaptor Sakura for $20 (NOT the aforementioned item).

They claim to sell both import and domestic products and it all looks official, but I decided to look around the internet to find what other people had to say about the store. Some said that they had great experiences, getting what they wanted, and others felt completely shafted, getting items months later and sometimes as bootlegs, if getting them at all. It's all 1 star or 5 stars, and that does little to ease my nerves.

So I thought I'd come here. However, attempting a handful of searches and browsing through this thread, nothing about this site has come up. I don't know if I've missed something, but I would very much like to hear some opinions of the folks here at ANN about this place. The original item I was looking for was under $10 and I'm considering just buying the one item as a test, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to get some advise about this place first.
