I would consider Tsukihime to be up there in the Shelf worth space. I thought it was pretty good.
Also, other than that, I agree with it all.
I haven't seen "The Cat Returns", but I do intend on buying it, but I have seen Wolf's Rain, and intend on buying, and I do own Nausicaa.

No. Just no. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. And I still say Episode 11 had the payoff everyone in Anime Club was looking for.
Good to see you back, I want to see a Scrapped Princess review. >< Darn lack of time and/or resources. (The review isn't going to change my mind about the show. I just want to see what unbiased people have to say.) |

Bamboo said she still had a pile of DVDs to review before she is all caught up, so it's likely stuck in that pile for now.
I enjoyed Wolf's Rain, but parts of it felt like they had no direction and I only kept watching because the wolves intrigued me. Luckily, it paid off, unlike other shows that have intrigued me then had bad endings. Anyways, I don't think it's for everyone, and some may only find a rental suitable for them. |

Yeah... I enjoyed Tsukihime as well, but enough time has passed for me to look at it a bit more objectively. It doesn't have that "timeless" feel to it that others do. It's harder for dramatic series to pull this off I think, and while Tsukihime attempted to do this with atmosphere, I'm afraid that it's not enough to keep me enthralled when I watch it.
There are classics, there are the ones you enjoy each time you watch, then there are the ones that just sit on your shelf collecting dust... I think it may be time for me to sort through my collection and sell off a few DVD's. |

Lovely to see y' back. Lovin' the Ghibli stuff indeed.
Taruto... strangely enough, was almost a complete impulse buy for me. But I resisted the thought of starting another series for the sake of my wallet, and to supress my adoration for cat-girls. =P
Tsukihime... It's been out for like... 3 months, yet I seem to never be able to find it on shelves (at Best Buy). Tis shame. I'll probably have to order this one.
...and that "2 DVDs to whomever makes me shed a tear first." comment. Wait... do you mean like... making you cry by punching you or something at a convention?
Strange request. But then again, I probably completely misinterpreted it. =P
Overall, a very nice widespread column. Though I hope you aren't intentionally hurting yourself by watching Popotan DVDs just to be able to dunk something in the perishible items list. =P |

I haven't gotten any screeners for it, but now that you mention it, I'll go buy a copy and put it in my review stack.

| I'm planning on getting Magical Meow Meow Taruto because I like cutesy anime series. Tomorrow I'm also heading over to Best Buy and picking up Elfen Lied with the artbox. I think I'm going to like this series also. |

It's great to see Shelf Life back! Now if we can only get the Sunday Spotlight back to its weekly format (no SS in the last three weeks?) we'll be back in business.
Outside of the two Wolf's Rain DVDs, in which I already own, there's really nothing on this edition that interests me. I'll probably watch the Ghibli movies eventually, but I'm not really a movie person.
Any chance that we'll see a Maburaho review in the near future? |

I wonder if she's going to do another "awesome" review on Sister Princess later on. Those are hilarious! |
