| @ Tenchi - it's funny, when I first started importing anime from the States, which was only back in 2009, the exchange rate was at around 15% and then climbed up to about 10%. I thought that was bad enough - I can't even CONCEIVE of what it must have been like to import in the Bad Old Days of the Northern Peso. |

Urgh. I think I spent about $150 getting all the OOP sets plus OVAS. This was about a year ago.
I wish that MB would have provided more details, like if their release will be remastered? |

I swear if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. |
If it makes you feel any better, you didn't pay much more than what they were selling for new. I distinctly recall as I was ordering the singles from the bargain bin TRSI was still selling the box sets for some huge price, like $80-90 apiece. |
He paid LESS than what they were originally selling for new. MSRP for the Suzaku and Seiryuu box sets was $198.98. EACH! And back in 2001 when I bought them, I didn't know about TSRI, nor did I much trust the internet for buying stuff, so MSRP is what I paid for them from Suncoast. So, Blood should just look at it like that and convince himself of the deal he got and just ignore this news blurb entirely. Especially when the price is posted |

Thanks, Sailor S, you have actually succeeded in snapping me out of my self-pity party. Actually, I love the look of the sets that I bought, so I'm not really that broken up, anyway. I got the Limited Edition Eikoden set with the pencil boards and all four sets are in immaculate condition.
...
I couldn't pass up the chance to whine, though. |

This is a pleasant surprise, perhaps I'll check it out. |

OMG! They had such a sale?! I Wonder if such an awsome deal will ever arrive again (25 Bandai DVDs for 100$ anybody? I'll take 50 ). |

I own all the post-TV series DVDs, which is why I feel comfortable saying Eikoden is a horrible... HORRIBLE bit of anime (and I LIKE the TV series, and never got too sick of "Miaka!" "Tamahome!"). Debtably worse than the second Kenshin OVAs (and I hate ALL the Kenshin OVAs). Oni is at least "tolerable", but Eikoden is pretty gawd-awful. I don't see any reason to re-release that considering you can EASILY buy it off Amazon right now. |

| Had my sets for awhile. Lucked out on a cheap eBay auction. Great to see these will be available for non greedy anime reseller prices. |

The TV series had an odd release pattern. All 52 episodes came out on VHS. After the switch to DVDs, it was released as two season sets which were, as noted above, very expensive. Later it was released in singles at a more reasonable price point. I passed on the season sets as I still had the tapes at that point. I later picked up the singles when they went on sale.
I don't remember the OAVs coming out on VHS. I also picked the DVDs up on sale. I bought the manga version as it came out.
On an odd note, the box for the first single reports only Japanese audio with subtitles. However, if you watch it, it does have the dub track.
I still haven't watched more than the first 5 or 6 episodes. |

ABOUT [expletive] TIME!
I know I'll be getting this when it comes out! I already bought Geneon's singles before, but they're taking up too much shelf space and I really could use the space for other things.
Hopefully Media Blasters also has the OVAs. |

I've always wondered what went through the minds of the Japanese committee when an R1 company not only wants to rescue a show, but an old one.
MB: Hey, can we work out a deal for that Fushigi Yugi show?
Japan: You mean that show that was already licensed many years ago by a company that went defunct?
MB: Yea, that one.
Japan: But...it was already released over there several times...more than a decade ago.
MB: We know.
Japan: OK, whatever, give us your money. |

I was just about to say that Eikoden isn't even worth the price of a roll of toilet paper I would normally use to clean up such crap. I wouldn't take it even if you gave it to me for free - it'd be taking up space for something more worthwhile to grace my shelves.
I do still have the other OVAs on VHS though. It'd be nice to finally replace them.
@Gyt Kaliba - Personally, it's one of my least favorite dubs ever. Ugh, Chichiri, you know? Ugh, Miaka. Ugh, Tasuki. But I know of a few people who liked the dub. Different strokes. Frankly, I thought it was only worthwhile to listen to for the goofy little segments after each Oni OVA episode, because the bad voices made some of them even more hilarious. |

Awesome, I'll finally own the series again (I sold the god-expensive boxsets when I needed money several years ago, lol)
Eikoden? What's this? It doesn't exist. I REFUSE that a god-awful Mary-Sue centric OVA exists.
But yeah, the 9 OVAs would be nice to see again, though they didn't make much sense they were very nice for fanservice. TASUKI <3
Hmm, I wonder what the Media Blasters prices will be... |

Awesome news
Been hoping for this, as it's a series I really would love to pick up, as I adore the manga. |
