Sigh, first they got me with the aborted singles release of Kanokon in which I bought the first one before they abandoned it and released a box set. Then I bought the box set and the OAV separately. Now they release a true complete series. Lovely. We're not on good terms right now MB!

I think it's hilarious that the Bakuman BD is more than double the MSRP of the DVD.

Kite also has the 60 minute version available too (adult) for $4 more if people are interested.

I know I've seen this but I've very little recollection of it. I wish I could remember if I liked it or not.

Hey, someone buy it, lend it to me, and then if I like it, will keep it. If I don't, I'll cover shipping both ways.

Deal?

Also, what happened to Squid Girl? I thought that was an April release.

Ya... I bought the complete edition without the ova too.. I am not going to fall into the trap though. The OVA wasn't anything special. To me its not a big deal, but it is obnoxious.

Oh... And a LOVE Kanokon.

At first I thought it was 13 episodes, and I was fine with that price point, but that much money for seven episodes? That's a little much. I know anime is a premium item, but I think that's a little outside of my price range... Was it even originally an HD show?

It's completely a budget show, which is why it's so funny. Seriously, Bakuman is never going to be lauded for its art and/or animation. And here is Media Blasters charging (an estimated) $240 MSRP for the first season of Bakuman on BluRay? And remember that they have season 2 as well... and a 3rd season of the anime has been greenlit.

Basically, the only people who would buy the BD for Bakuman are those who have money to waste and/or those who have sworn that they would never buy something in standard definition ever again.

It's the same with all the BDers who gnashed their teeth because MB came out with Squid Girl on SD first and the BD version only later. Come on, peeps, it's a fun little comedy show that doesn't trade on succulent visuals at all. I love BD too, but there are some shows where it just doesn't matter. However, never underestimate people's desire to spend more than they have to for absolutely no reason.

This amuses me, becuase it's the exact thought process I had yesterday. "I need something to get free shipping on my funi order. I'll pick up Squid Girl, it's on sale and I was going to buy it during the next MB sale anyway. Uh-oh... there's a Blu coming. Should I wait after all... nah. It's just Squid Girl." (It helps that I don't have an HD TV yet.)

175 minutes and 13 episodes, eh? Considering the price (which I knew to be absurd for a MB release) it's much likely the latter and not the former.

For those who don't know already, there is a delay to Squid Girl Season 1 (Blu-ray). Amazon.com posts the updated release date as 4/10/2012.

And there is this in regards to Bakuman S1P1 BD release (was suppose to be May)...

There is a delay as the title is not doing as well as we hoped. We are now speaking with the licensor and hope to come to terms that will work for everyone.

Is there an official statement about that? I was planning on buying it today, thinking it would still come relatively soon, when I saw that the date was different on the Amazon page. However, both Right Stuf! and Robert's Anime Corner Store still have it as 3/13, so I'm way confused!

I have heard that Allegro (MB's distributor) has changed the release date to April 10th. Amazon.com appears to be the first to change it. I guess the various online retailers are not on the same page (seems to be norm this year).

Media Blasters I was just wondering about the squid girl blu ray set. I pre-ordered the season 1 blu ray edition. It was suppose to come out today but nothing yet.

It is finished but by the time it gets to the stores from Portland, it will be a bit later.

EDIT: I'll add this news here too...
