Your welcome Smile I didn't know Zakuro's name meant pomegranate, so thank you too, it's cool to know.

Weren't Pomegranate flowers a minor part of the story? SO I guess it does have meaning.

I did once watch a google-translated sub of an episode of Working/Wagnaria 2 that translated any name that could be translated. (it was horrible but CR was on a delay for some reason and I needed my fix) Until I figured out what was up I kept wondering why they kept talking about Chestnuts- untilI figured out they were referring to Nazuna (Sota's little sister).

What does Otome Youkai Zakuro (おとめ妖怪 ざくろ) mean?

Though the name 'ざくろ (Zakuro)' means 'pomegranate', the kanji for the heroine's name are 西王母桃, and actually 西王母桃 is Xī Wáng Mŭ's peaches, rather than pomegranates.
Culturally, pomegranates are usually associated with Kishimojin.
However, the peach, the pomegranate and the Buddha's hand constitute the Three Fruites and symbolise the Three Kinds of Plenty.

Hi,
I'm desperately in need of help in searching for movie. I tried everything and everywhere and it's like this movie never existed. But I remember it from my youth although only a few scenes.

This is what I know:
-it's definately something older probably 70s-90s
-plot is about some metalic-robotic creatures (they look a little bit like godzilla but they are made of metal) attacking people
-first creature came from volcano and in that scene some people (tourists probably) are standing at the top when suddenly this monster came out
-there is another scene with some big ship (something like FLIP vessel) that is turning down under water
-one of main characters travels in seashell-shaped flying ship (don't remember if space ship or only airplane)
-these monsters main attack was throwing fireballs out of their mouths but they didn't look like ordinary fireballs but like hollow metal balls with holes and fire inside, exploding on impact

That's all I remember. When you didn't recognize any film by my desription I will appreciate any hint or guess.

Thank you Smile

I have a random question. I started reading Gia's List not that long ago, and find it very funny and interesting. So I decided to read through all of the Gia's Lists that there have been, and clicked on the archives. Only it linked me to all of the columns there have been for the past 10 years on ANN, not just Gia's List. I started to sort through the articles, but realized I don't even know how long Gia's List has been around for. So my question is, when did Gia's List start? If I know when it debuted, I should be able to go from there and find all the columns. I just don't want to sort through ten years worth of articles to discover it started in 2010 Anime hyper

Her first ever list was 9 Bizarre Cats, which started June 25, 2011.

It'd probably be helpful if her list was added to the Views tab with the other regular colums. Might be something you want to bring up in the ANN Feedback section.

Hi, I have a Crunchyroll related question. I'm new to Crunchyroll
and don't have a premium service. My computer has trouble
handling a full 24-minute episode but I find it easier watching
shorter episodes like Eve no jikan episode which I think was
around ten minutes long. Are there any other series on
Crunchyroll that have shorter episodes and don't require premium
subscription for the first few episodes?
I just found another one for you =) Recorder and Randshell. Each ep is ~3 mins and available for free users. The only thing is it's new this season, so all the eps aren't out yet. But there are already 9 eps available for free users Smile

In this AMV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95ekJK73aZY does anyone recognize the pictures at
0:21 (blonde ghost?)
1:20 (girl reading on the window)
1:48 - 1:51 (guy and small girl at school)
2:14- 2:21 (both pictures)
2:56 (girl in red tank top)
and 4:17 to end of video (girl with black hair)

Hopefully a couple of these are animes, since I recognized Shana, Clannad, ef, gintama and a few other animes.

I attempted to try to figure out who these were by taking screenshots of the images and using Google's search by image feature.

The one at 0:21 is apparently Akiho Nonosaki from the eroge Moshimo Ashita ga Hare Naraba.

For the one at 1:20, I found this page which seems to relate to an award won by Shunsuke Tagami for art for a work called Kiri or Kieli. It seems to have a manga version, but my impression is that the art isn't from the manga version. If the other images on that page are for the same work, then it might be an illustration for a novel, or something like that. Someone who can read Japanese could probably tell better what the page says.

1:48-1:51 is apparently Suzumura Azami and Kamiya Ryo from a visual novel called Garden.

2:14 is apparently from a visual novel called White Clarity.

2:21 seems to be from Da Capo II, or some part of that franchise, as best as I can tell.

2:56 appears to be Yuki Sosame from the visual novel Kakuu Shoujo.

For all of the pictures from 4:17 on, Google wasn't able to find any matching images, so I don't know what that is from.

Hopefully, this is the right place to ask my question...

I've gotten several anime DVD's over the past few years and nearly every single one has options for "English dub" or "Japanese with subtitles," but no options that allow you to watch the Japanese without subtitles. In the past, most subtitled anime DVD's I owned were able to provide a general "English or Japanese audio" and "Subtitles on or off" option, but I rarely see that anymore. I wonder if there's a reason for this, or if it's just the DVD's I'm buying that do this... but could someone tell me if there's a way to turn subtitles off from a Japanese dub on an English DVD, such as in Funimation's or Aniplex's DVDs? Technology boggles me, though I typically use my computer or my PS3 to watch these...

I have no idea about the PS3 but it should be pretty easy to set your language and switch or turn off all subtitles on your computer. "Audio" (sometimes "Language") and "Subtitles" (sometimes Video/"Subtitles) choices should be found in a drop-down or right-click menu. Using that will give you a menu of available choices or give you the option to turn them off.

Almost all DVD and BluRay players simply have a button labeled "Subtitles" on the Remote Contrrol that you can hit and scroll through subtitle choices. (although I do own a DVD player, that I no longer use, without this RC button- so I had to go through menu options to switch subs).

What program do you use to watch DVD's on your computer? Windows Media Player? VLC? I, or someone else, might be able to tell you exactly in a program's menu to find the sub choices.

Are you getting primarily from one company? Sure, usually the DVDs I have are programmed to turn on the subtitles if I select the Japanese language option, but dub track and subtitles are almost always separate options. I have a few older DVDs that do that, but no newer ones.
