Hmmm, interesting. Assuming you are correct, Key (and I have no reason to think you are not), then the reason why spoiler[Misaki's sister died in April was that the class had an Another in April but didn't realize it, because the Another was a teacher not a student, therefore the tell-tale "short one desk" indicator wasn't apparent. It was only the expected arrival of Kouichi (delayed to his medical issue) in the class that highlighted the missing desk and thus the delay in using a counter-measure.]

I suspect that this is probably correct, yes.

Did anyone do a body count this episode?

Hmm, let's see...

spoiler[- 2 deaths from the flashback (1 died by lightning, other by falling off some cliff)
- 3 deaths (2 dies when car ran off the road, 1 dies while @ his computer when a construction vehicle struck directly into it)]

spoiler[Am I wrong or are those last 3 persons that died the only ones that were no where near nor had any contact with Kōichi at the time they died?]

@ Unicorn_Blade Eeks, you made it even worse by saying that!

The real question is: how to forever stop the curse from happening? If spoiler[killing the Another] isn't enough?

Maybe that doesn't get resolved in this story. Someone else had asked why was this series taking place in 1998 and the possible reason could be so the author could do a sequel taking place years later where this is finally resolved.

Episode 11:

Blood for the blood god!

And, spoiler[I see dead people.]

That was a bloody, gruesome, and somewhat graphic episode. So much wonderful things to see if you're Caster and Ryunosuke from Fate/Zero.

At this point, I still no idea who the Another is unless you count the spoiler I've read a while back which I tried my best to disregard it... but the preview makes me think that it's true.

So... who's the Another? Time to wait a week for the answer and conclusion.

What do they make their mops out of? Or umbrellas, for that matter? The manufacturing industry does some amazing things in the background of horror anime.

What the...
I must say it was a bit over the top, the whole spoiler[massacre]. I am also not sure why the inn lady spoiler[got involved] in first place and what was the point of the fire, but to be fair, I am a bit tired and well, some of the scenes in the episode do not belong to those Id love to -over and over. .
The glasses girl was extremely annoying.
So, what happened to Mochizuki?

There was metal attached to the mop to hold the mop head in place. At my old job I had one actually lean over and hit me on the head, that crap hurt like hell. Laughing

That crazeh girl gave me the creeps. Well can't wait for the conclusion, at this point this one is on my to buy list.

Edit: This whole crap storm reminds me of the last few episodes of Shiki spoiler[blood, blood everywhere]

Heh. Looks like they're messing with the audience to the very end. spoiler[One of those supposed "deaths" really wasn't clear-cut, was it? Notice who they didn't flash back to when Misaki was talking right before the end of the episode?] For a series that does almost nothing casually, that was mighty suspicious, on the "let's surprise the audience with who isn't really dead" level.

But wow, did things degenerate quickly there! And it seems like the anime may be taking at least a slightly different approach than the source novel, as the character who spoiler[dies from falling and breaking her neck] is different in the spoilers I've seen and it happens under different circumstances.

That may happen later, and I'll be happy if they keep the character alive since I happened to like them a lot despite having some issues about them.

As for the adaption messing with the audience, well, lets just say it worked on me even though I knew spoilers. I tried my best to disregard the spoilers and I guessed it worked out for the most part.

Well, it is the year 1998 and back when I was a little boy - around the early 2000s - umbrellas still had the metal tip. I don't recall ever having mops with metal parts though. I often got hurt by the umbrellas because I messed around with them.

While I was watching this episode, I was expecting faces to pop up and scare me like a typical Western horror movie but that didn't really happen. It's pretty interesting to see the difference between Western and Eastern horrors. Then again, I honestly haven't watched too many horrors.

the girl that spoiler[dies breaking her neck was Izumi on a ship] that is one clear difference there but then that said person lived in the manga. Yes one of those deaths wasn't clear/cut but It's safe to assume most of them are atm... If i am wrong then so be it but.

However I think that Izumi, Mei, Kouichi, Teshigawara, Yuya all seem to have plot armor at the this point in time. In all honesty they are the only ones outside of the teacher that drove off with the asthma kid that might make it.. but who knows.... this is just a guess. Also i think this kid is going to need a skin-graph and little burn ointment...

Whenspoiler[ Maejima grabbed Kouichi's leg], I totally jumped, and I'm not afraid to admit it. I always watch in complete darkness, and I've had a few merlots tonight, but still. It's almost because I didn't expect Another to pull something like that it managed to take me by surprise. Good stuff.

What a contrast to the non-events of previous episodes. I enjoy narratives that reach a crescendo such as this. I was already enjoying the series, this episode served to reinforce that. That said, the higher the highs, the harder the falls. If next week doesn't resolve everything to the standard I'm expecting of the show, then I guess it has the potential to leave a very sour taste in my mouth.

It's been some time since I've been this eager to see an episode of anime.

Ehm, I cannot look at Key's spoiler, right? I have to read carefully before openin' a spoilertag.

That was a nice bloody ride. Poor Kouichi got spoiler[stabbed] and lost his spoiler[fertility], let's hope he doesn't eventually end up as a damsel in distress. Or well, that could be fun too. Maybe a tension pneumothorax (collapsed lung)?
Either way, I'm REALLY curious as to who is the Another, even though I have my eyes set on spoiler[Akazawa]. Nice moments: when Misaki got spoiler[3 hairs cut] and of course, the catch spoiler[the leg] scene. I've done that IRL before, always works!

I'm curious as well as to why the inn lady spoiler[went crazy. Poor Teshy and Mochizuki.]
