By the way, how is it that Seiya and Saori look basically the same? Are they immortals?

they are the same people, just older. Seiya is now a gold saint.

I keep wondering... why does ANN keep promoting this series as the 1st Saint Seiya series in a quarter of a century? Are they ignoring the existance of Lost Canvas? I can understand the Hades saga since it was basically an OAV series... but what about Lost Canvas?
