| well since 4chan seems to bickering over what subs to use because of font and localization issues. Also since it's Kyoto Animation welp trolls are out in full swing this season for this show. I have to say it's rather interesting show far from what I have seen but i will hold off judgment myself as well for a few epiosdes, although the animation/art-style is glorious eye candy. | |||

| I loved the whole eerie enchanted feel of the portrayal of the main male character being entranced with the female main character. Forgive me, I'd need another episode to remember the names. The mysteries were not very unique nor very intriguing for that matter. I'm not quite convinced that the main male character is all that smart and all with his mystery solving ways yet. But the art style is pretty. Sometimes that just keeps you going, you know? Take for example this show. | |||

| I definitely love this series; in fact it may be one of my favourite of the season. I can understand how somebody would find it dull, but I love the characters, art and animation so much that I'm enthralled. I could easily have immediately re-watched the episode. I absolutely adore Chitanda and watching her drag Hotaro into situations never fails to crack me up. I notice from the ANN Encyclopedia page that the subtitle for the show is You Can't Escape, which certainly encapsulates Hotaro's plight.
From a pure technical standpoint, this series really highlights that KyoAni + high budget = visual sex for the eyes. |

| This show definitely for the mystery fans, which I am, but It's easy to see how people could get bored with this pretty fast.
I've liked the show so far, but I hope they don't keep up with the "who stole the cookie from the cookie jar" type mystery. I'd like to see the show get a bit more serious, lighthearted mysteries are fine and all, but only for so long. It needs some drama. |

| I have no real problem, I would like it a little more interesting, but I would not say that I get bored, and the artwork is lovely. The mystery s far may not be the most interesting in the world, but they feel real, like something that might happen.
For our characters traits, Satoshi has a good range of knowledge, Houtarou sees something from a distance and how things fit together. And Chitanda I guess is good with a single thing in front of her, like a smell or test question. Well we have Ibara now, though she did not really have much beyond making of Houtarou. |

| I can't get enough of Chitanda. I can forgive the absence of any real mystery simply because she gets so much screentime. Besides, from the way this last episode ended, I get the feeling some greater plot will be afoot soon. I don't really need to echo the previous sentiments regarding the production values, I've yet to watch a KyoAni production that doesn't look amazing. The little dream sequences Houtarou experiences are pretty trippy, in the best possible way.
It's definitely a must-watch for me. |

| Hey, Volibear. Could you do me a favor and add the Hyouka Spotlight Page to the first post? I've found myself going to it a few times, and while using the "new anime" tab is a pretty quick way to find it, a first page link might be helpful, as it does give some good ideas as to what we can expect.
The creator comments in particular seem to promise that the show is not going to remain a totally benign SoL story, and isn't a slowburn a staple of KyoAni shows? They don't often make shows that jump out at you immediately, so I guess we have to be patient? Eru does seems to be on the verge of telling Houtarou what she joined the club for. |

| ok, so ep. 2. seems like the plot of this will be spoiler[about whatever Chitanda tells Oreki, i'm guessing a relative (brother, uncle, mother or father) was in the club and something dark/mysterious happened and it was covered up, that would explain the no anthologies issue they had, why Chitanda is determined to know more about it and why she needs Oreki's help] i don't know whether it'll be the immediate future of the series or the driving force behind the series although i hope the latter, if it's the latter then i'll stick with it but if its the former then i'll probably drop it, important exams coming up and i don't fancy paying another years tuition and accomodation fees because i watched too much anime | |||

Do you think the main 4 will delve into solving murder mysteries anytime soon? The one thing that intrigued me about these first 2 episodes is the logic process into solving the mundane mystery is rock solid and plausible. This utterly beats out the other recent mystery anime series where it relied on supernatural gimmicks. If Hyouka keeps up, this series could give my brain a good workout. |

I disagree, the mysteries are kind of dull there's nothing at stake. MC would as soon make up a mystery to get Chitanda off of his back than solve one that already exists. I don't think this series can survive or rely on benign cases like that, something with more substance has to happen. |

| phew. still on the fence about the series. if it weren't for great character designs and animation in general i might have dropped it after this episode.
spoiler[someone going to such lengths to cover up that he's been smoking in a classroom?! come on, that's plain ridiculous.] whatever the thing with spoiler[chitanda's uncle] is, i hope it finally lives up to the atmosphere and expectations raised. so far, every mystery solved has made me roll my eyes about the fact that someone would actually bother presenting frikkin boring stuff like this as if it were worth more than 2 minutes of screen time. |

Yeah, this one was a bit silly. I've forgiven the past two as necessary to convince Chitanda of Houtarou's abilities (and I thought they were decent mini-mysteries and "con") but this one was pretty bad. Even in uptight Japan you'd figure they could tell the guy spoiler["Hey, it's obvious, we're not narcs so just give us the books... and stop bogarting that sh!t, pass the spliff, dude!"] I was also taken aback at the original mystery as explained.spoiler[ "I asked my Uncle something... I don't remember what... and his answer really upset me... not that I can remember what he said... could you help me?" So you don't remember the question or the answer? Sure, no problem. ] I'm pretty forgiving but if they hadn't spoiler[explained at least a bit of the mystery the way they did at the end of the episode, ], I might have given up on the show as being unnecessarily obtuse. |

| I've only caught the first episode but the show is gorgeous, I will stick with this one. Very nicely detailed backgrounds, animation, and music, on par with Hanasaku Irhoha. | |||
