All this over copyright infringement? That's kind of frightening.

I hope that they donate the seized clothing to some needy kids, kinda like how US Customs and Border Protection donates seized counterfeit goods to orphans and other impoverished Americans.

Am I missing something? The forum posts seem to suggest the police went 'too far', but I'm not sure how you could read that from the article. An elderly couple were running something of a rather large bootlegging operation (1900 shirts, $4.4 million/year, along with other unaddressed accusations?). Last I checked, large-scale bootlegging operations are a traditionally arrestable offense, especially when you're caught in the act of doing it. Just look at the shirt --- it's a pretty blatant portrayal of Anpanman's likeness. And if you read the article, the police even released the elderly man in consideration of his poor health.

I hope this generation isn't so far gone as to let even straight-up bootleggers get a free pass.
