Final reminder... License window closes tonight at midnight Eastern Time.

I'll remove the entry entirely tally up the totals from Twitter and FB and then discuss them with my staff.

Once again, this is not a popularity contest. Not democratic either. Any title, no matter how few votes will be considered if it meets our requirements. And there is no guarantee that the top vote-getters will be acquired. However, better support would make for better arguments when we go through the selection process.

Thanks again for participating. And the next window for Fall 2013 will be in late September.

I didn't think to ask before the poll closed, but does Vertical tend to shy away from titles that are still ongoing? I noticed Nazo no Kanojo X on the list, and wondered if something like that has a chance at being picked up by you guys.

Yup. Never would have been considered... Too long and too old. We are eliminating titles from before 2000. (Tezuka recs being the exception.)

Sorry.

Yup. Too long and that genre really is exactly what we are most adverse to. We are more of a genre fiction publisher. Slice of life or general drama is not our thing.

We love sci-fi, fantasy, thrillers, scandalous romances and horror. Those genres compliment our novels well.

We don't mind them... Knights of Sidonia, Flowers of Evil, Chi's Sweet Home are all still running. They all appear to be in the closing phases but we still picked them up mid-run. Our next two series licenses are also currently running.

We have read bits of Mysterious GFX in the office. We think it's cute. But I can't say anything else about it. Well actually, I'll say this... That's the type of title we'd look at closer if it were shorter though.

after looking into it it sounds like a series id pick up. Hopefully another publisher takes it on.

I was hoping that YKK could get by because of the sci-fi setting, the 10 volume release and running through 2006.

Hopefully someone else will consider it. I'm still holding out some hope for a Kodansha USA release.

Vertical has another poll up on their Facebook account:

https://www.facebook.com/questions/10151097240569613/

There are strict rules for recommendations though (which of course nobody paid attention to):

-No Novels
-No titles from Shogakukan, Shueisha or Akita Shoten
-No titles from before 2000
-No titles longer than 12 volumes
-No eromanga or explicit BL

Well it's obvious atm Princess Jellyfish is a popular poll option, and since I've been wanting that for years I just voted for that. I would pre-order each and every volume of that manga.

I voted for Princess Jellyfish again, since the other titles that I want were either Shogakukan or Shueisha Sad

Plus I would love Princess Jellyfish.

I guess my biggest problem is that I haven't read scans since the mid-2000s, so anything that I really want is already published here (Twin Spica! I bought the whole thing!) or too old (and/or by one of the publishers that they can't get manga from; Homonculus seems like a good fit for Vertical, but it's Shogakukan)
