I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad. Once they start doing manga volume OVAs, that means the tv anime series is essentially dead. But I do get an extra episode. Conflicted..

Nice, I always hoped they could bring forth something, anything again from the World God Only Knows in anime form again.

Anyways, going to check this out soon.

Not likely. The only reason it got a second season is because it was planned as split-cour from the start. The sales numbers for both seasons are likely not good enough for a third to be made. And it's not like the manga had much of a boost in sales as well.

That big let's show everyone at the end of season 2 wasn't just a troll....

I'm happy about this even though they're skipping the summer capture arcs Tenri sets in motion all the plot important stuff at the very least we might see the Goddess arc animated after all this.

A movie for the Goddess arc would be great but I kinda want to see the summer capture arcs done as OVAs beforehand. Because seriously I don't want this to end up like Negima which has stuff that covers the first 6/7 vols then skips to the last 10 or so content wise. Leaving whole arcs that will never get animated.

This is interesting, but I'm still a little more worried/wondering about how the manga's new arc is going to unfold.

What this series really needs is a PSP bishoujo game. It might even come out with it's own Keima's custom PFP.

Well OVAs can be used to judge public interest in the IP. Considering Kami Nomi has been Manglobe's best grossing series and that the manga grew in popularity (volume sales) during the goddess arc they certainly have an interest in continuing to produce the series.

I'd expect it to be a winter 2013 series, depending on the length of the Hayate season, should they decide to do so. They were probably booked to produce Mashiro-Iro Symphony before they had the data to make a decision about a 3rd season. Thus the 2nd OVA based around the 2-b pencils.

Since Manglobe is still producing Kanon Nakagawa music and her "live" concerts they certainly still hold Kami Nomi at a certain value.

The first season was Manglobe's best grossing series (which isn't saying much). The second season sold 33% less. Mashiro-iro Symphony sold more than the second season of KamiNomi.

They're not going to want to produce an anime that will only sell 2k copies.
