Writers names from the Marvel books are all over these 4 anime, and some of you didn't like them all that much.

Name more than two.

Waren Ellis wrote the story for all 4 anime. Marvel's hands were on this, since it's a co-pro. This is no excuse, but all of the shows revolved around Japan in some way, and maybe it would be better off if the shows had free reign, like this new movie does.

Were those anime really successful enough to warrant a movie?!

Probably successful "enough" in the West than in Japan. Since the West buy more home videos than Japan, "enough" may be more than good enough, especially with the lower cost of production in Japan.

MadHouse has such talented artists. Why waste them on this?

Probably they get better pay to make these.

How much do you wanna bet he only made that announcement after he saw how terrible it was just to distance himself from his own work?

If he gets credit, he probably gets home video residuals.

These are funded directly by Marvel. Sales are irrelevant. I don't even remember seeing them place on any of the sale charts.

They probably were profitable, at least for comics/anime fans in the US.
