Am I the only one who prefered the second half of the first volume to the first half? I didn't get really interested in the story until that happened, personally. Admittedly, volume 2 was better overall, but I may not have been so hasty to pick it up if not for the time jump.
On that note, Sophia > everything and Kenji > everything-but-Sophia |

| The gnosticism bullshit isn't very interesting and does try to hard, but I think the characters and intense pace of the story more than make up for it and I'd give it at least a B+ overall, but still a good review. I'm really looking forward to reading more of this, especially with the current lack of good action epics out there. |

Speaking of gnosticism, the names of the territories in volume 2 ("Gnosia" and "Agnosia") made me groan.
I like the series, I just don't care for the excessive philosophy/theology. I'm much more interested in the politics and the characters. |

| I still haven't picked this series up yet but hope to do so in the future because I've heard how great it is. |
