what anime's have great plots and narratives. which ones are so intriguing they make u want to watch the series again and again. Smile

mines as per usual would actually be cowboy bebop (shocking). its storyline consists of spike and his almost completely ambiguous and just cause more intrigue into spike and his past. the intrigue into spike and his past is a narrative devices invented by Tvzetan Todorov (narrative theorist) called the enigma code. which is basically an audience will watch it only to unravel the mystery and find the answers. this is true of bebop and i believe it has a fantastic plot that really gets u wanting more after each episode.

however there are some episodes of bebop that have nothing to do with plot or story, as noted by none other than jet himself. these episodes are there simply to amuse u and entertain they aren’t part of the story and aren’t going to propel narrative. these episodes no matter how pointless in contrast to the plot are still fun to watch and are great anime.

the fights between spike and vicious spoiler[in sessions 5,12,13 and 26 ]give the story great depth. while the other sessions are creating history and characterisations these episodes are partially about conflict and confrontation between good and evil. i think these fights are brilliant in terms of narrative. they come in at the beginning middle and end which is cool.

anyway to finish cause my hand hurts a little what anime has the best story to it and the best plot. my fav is bebop cause its cool, funny, full of mystery, exciting and intriguing.

thank you
: Smile
and if this post has been done before well then bugga and im very sorry.

I really like intense drama like Da Capo (first seaon) and Shuffle. You get to become very intimate with the individual characters and I like how they deal with the fact that only a few can have a perfect ending -- and yet everyone can still have a happy ending.

I also enjoyed Evangelion, which is odd because I was never a big fan of mecha. I felt that the characters were developed, but not well enough for me. I like Evangelion because the story itself is complex.

These aren't the absolute best for me (or maybe they are), but they are some that I find memorable or that I'm enjoying alot currently.

First and foremost
NOEIN-This show is amazing in every single way. It manages to fit quantum physics, time travel, and other such things(Schrodinger's cat paradox), and manages to make them all make sense and be incredibly intriguing. No doubt about it, it's the best anime of the year. And the animation. You have to see it to believe it. Not only does it have one of the most interesting and complex stories, but it has some of the best fight scenes ever animated. Seriously. It's good.

Gankutsuou-It's just darn suspenseful. It has almost no action(as far as fighitng is concerned at least), yet it's one of the most exciting anime I have ever seen. In many ways, it's almost like a soap opera, except very very intense.

Big O-Some might see it as just a giant robot show, but it goes deeper than that. It's interesting because from the beginning, the characters are just as concerned in finding out what the whole truth is as you are. And the whole build up in the latter half of the show is just great.

Windy Tales-This one is here mainly because it's a simple concept, but they manage to do a lot of interesting things with it without resorting to cliches. It's just about kids who gain the power to control the wind. No they don't have to fight other kids who control the elements or anythign like that. It's just about what happens in the everyday lives of these kids who just happen to have this power. It has a unique art style too.

Zettai Shonen-Very slow paced, relaxed, sci-fi mystery/drama. There's two main story arcs each revolving around a different cast. The first is in the countryside, the second in the city(both stories are closely related, though). They both have to do with these little ufo type thingies, among other supernatural occurences, but it also revolves around the stuff that happens with the main characters, and the sci fi and drama parts work together very well. It's like a slice of life type anime which has a supernatural mystery building and building as more and more characters get involved in it. It might be to slow for some, but if you want a good story and a slightly mysterious atmosphere, this is a good choice. It really absorbs you and keeps ya watching.

Mai Otome-I started liking this more than Mai HiME recently. There's so much more to the plot than just (HiME spoiler)spoiler[the girls having to fight each other like in HiME]. This time you got the politics, the three sides that are involved, and almost two running stories, one with the adults, one with the kids, which have now merged. And it doesn't just focus on Arika. There's more story for each of the 3 main characters(Arika, Nina, Mashiro) than there was for the three in HiME.

There's more I'm sure, but I can't remember right now.

If you want a good slice of life, then the votes would go to Honey and Clover. It damn well deserves its place in ANN's top ten (currently #9 by bayesian estimate), and I'd say it owes to one of most beautiful characterisations and storytelling. No-brainer.

It paints a story about people - very real people, who, along their individual pursuit for 'happiness', have to deal with emptiness, sorrow, rejection, painful memories, and a feeling of not belonging in this world. These insecurities, we all have! And to see each of the characters learn how to overcome their inner obstacles gives us unfathomable hope and strength. Indeed, life is not a fairytale, but one can rise and face those hurtful walls within us and there will always be new and energising discoveries that give just that much more meaning to life.

One of the most beautiful human-dramas I've seen.

I always thought FMA, Wolf's Rain, Kenshin, ghost in a shell, and even monster were some of the best plots(though i gave up for the first time watchin this at like ep 30 - 40, yes it has a brilliant story line, but i like variation so it got abit boring)

Naruto/Bleach also have cool if they didn't have so many fillers, actualy i take that back bleach seems to have a nice plot buillding up atm while naruto seems to be going in all directions.

Chrono Crusade : A memorable story told, sad but very true in its nature.

spoiler[Consider where the series ended. World War II has begun, and dark clouds falls over America. The series always was about confusion and pandemonium not just between man and demon but man and himself.

No it wasn't very happy, but that's the point, The roaring twenties ended with the specter of coming war and confusion reigened supreme (in Japan just as much as in America) it is a reflection on the current state of national affairs, and more importantly a reminder of the darkness man can easilywork himself into.]

For best plot/story, I'd have to go with Bleach. A lot of the really good animes out there doesn't start with the beginning and end with an actual ending. Bleach starts with the beginning, and I believe that it will end with an ending. Popular choices such as Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin, Elfen Lied, Chrono Crusade, and pretty much all of the other animes that I've seen starts with the main characters already having a background, and they often flashback the things that's happened. In Bleach, while all of the support characters all have a long history, the main characters, Ichigo, Chad, Ishida, and Inuoe all start with basically nothing to do with the plot.

Techinically speaking, I would say that most people would probably agree that Bleach in all aspects cannot compare to classics, but in terms of pure plot/story, I say that Bleach is the best. The other anime series focus more on detail, using the past to better develop the characters, and creating in a sense a new dimension for the anime's potential. Also, animation, sound, and how the plot is carried out matter a lot. Bleach does not match up in the other factors, but if watching just for the sake of the story, Bleach is the best.

I'm a person who hates watching the same show over and over, but there are a few episodes I can watch again and again...

Cowboy Bebop - I love the first episode, Sympathy for the devil, Pierrot Le Fou, Mushroom Samba, and a couple of others I can't remember by name. Just short stand alone episodes I can watch when I have an extra 20 minutes to kill before the next class.

Same director, Samurai Champloo - Can't get enough of the weed episode, the basball one cracks me up, and the three part ending is also one of my favorites.

These couple of episodes have some of the best, original, stories/plots I have ever seen and can't get enough of.

I love Vampires, and the quick Blood The Last Vampire is a good reminder of why i do. Great story telling and animation.

...How so? It's kind of a good idea to explain such statements, instead of just randomly throwing them out there and leaving us all to scratch our heads in utter confusion.

i Believe that there are good plots/storyline in:

Elfen lied- very interesting, yet sad at the same time. Any plot that makes you feel sympathy or sad is good enough to watch.

Bleach- Bleach's storyline makes me feel "pumped" sometimes, especially during a fight scenes and when the "Number 1" song comes ups. Very Oringial.

Naruto- Naruto's storyline was been pretty good until it reached the fillers. Everytime i finish watching one ep of naruto...i just cant wait to watch the next ep, esp during the fighting scenes. Cant wait until the fillers end. Very Happy

Oh right. Sorry.Uhm..

It's becausespoiler[when the FMA series ended and in the movie, Ed came to our world, in Germany.]And the setting for Monster is in Germany. And I don't know, I seem to find a similarity between research (that is, alchemy research done by Ed) and Tenma's surgeon practice. Maybe it's the science that's common.
