I had completely forgotten that they had licensed Lovely Complex. Can't wait to own it! I've wanted to see it for quite some time.

I'm a bit perplexed with Discotek at the moment with Lupin III: Green vs Red. The movie is supposed to be released in May yet they aren't taking pre-orders for it yet. I know ANN doesn't know anything unless they get it confirmed with the distributor/ licensor, but these developments have me a little worried, especially since I had interest in wanting to snag the movie when it became available to order.

The idea of Diebuster being re-released while Gunbuster is OP is so bizarre.
1) Gunbuster is great while Diebuster is... not. 2) Diebuster makes no sense without first watching Gunbuster. |

True on all accounts. Assuming I'm remembering correctly, there was a Bluray rerelease of Gunbuster last year in Japan, so I'm guessing it'll be a long time before the original OVA gets a re-release in any form in the US. In any event, I've been waiting for preorders to open on the sequel since I passed on it the first time around, so this is an automatic preorder for me. |

Counter offer: 1 ) Groovin' Magic 2) Nono. 3) It's Gainax, I think your assumption of "makes no sense" is misapplied or already implied, one of those. Gunbuster has a lot going for it, from art to music but it always seemed like it could happen to anyone, involving anyone {The ending alone is completely arbitrary too}. Diebuster is 100% Nono. This release is surprisingly cheap, well cheaper and in one case, possibly even one DVD. This could be one of those "Hey buying this will get the other released" situations, not that it should happen because first is first and all but more the situation calls for someone to say it. There, my job is done. Wait... 4) Gunbuster's ending doesn't make any sense without Diebuster. |

It should be worth buying in the hopes that Gunbuster's BD is licensed, it's been over a year since that Japanese release so it should be okay.

Well if Maiden Japan has Blu-Rays, I suppose anything's possible. I'll pre-order a Blu-Ray Gunbuster the first day it's possible. (But that doesn't mean I'm going to double-dip for Diebuster.)
@ Animegomaniac. You realise you're nuts, of course. The second OVA series is parasitic on the first in every way. (Which doesn't mean that I don't have a certain affection for it, or that I don't recognise its ingenuity as a sequel.) |

Really cool that Harlock is being done in one complete series, I hope they can move on to Arcadia of My Youth and Endless Orbit SSX after that, perhaps finishing up with Harlock Saga and the other scattered 90s OVAs in the Leijiverse.
