Amen amen I say to that-both Fate/Zero and Bebop on bluray (fat chance in hell we'll ever see them here in the us) are on my "not only yes-but hell yes" must have list.

^ Oh I know for a FACT we'll eventually get Bebop here in the States. It's too big too ignore.

It's just gonna take a lot longer to get than our friends overseas, is all. Confused

Out July from Siren Visual - HAKABA KITARO!

Comic-book yōkai coolness from the wild Kenji Nakamura (C For Control, Mononoke), who we are nuts about here at Siren HQ. This is the series from 2008, which was based on the manga classic 'GeGeGe no Kitarō' from Shigeru Mizuki...it's something of a classic in Japan where it has been around in some animated or printed form since 1968.

It'll be sub-only, DVD-only and another exclusive Oz-first noitaminA release from Siren. More info as it comes to hand, so don't slam us with tech-spec-blech questions just yet!

Last I checked Kitarou shared some of Toei's Mononoke staff, but Nakamura Kenji was not involved in the show itself. He did direct the wonderful OP, Mononoke Dance, and the rather pedestrian ED (can't find a link) for the also rather pedestrian song Snow Tears.

Hakaba Kitarou remains the all-time ratings champion at noitaminA, averaging a 4.8 over its eleven episodes, just ahead of Nodame Paris-Hen and Moyashimon.

I am still on the fence about getting Chihayafuru since I am still holding out hope it will be licensed here. Maybe will wait until Part 2 is out and get both together.

I already have the bilingual manga releases so don't need that.

I've been surprised by how few Blu-ray releases I see from licensors like Siren. On its website, searching the catalog for BR releases brings up only Mawaru Penguindrum and Tiger and Bunny. I've searched in vain to get some measure of BR player penetration in AU, but all the data I can find are in proprietary consulting reports.

Mononoke and Dennou Coil both seemed strong candidates for BR releases. There are Japanese BR versions of both shows so there are already masters available. Is the market for BR releases in general, and BR anime releases in particular, so thin that likely sales volumes will not cover costs? Are the Japanese producers not licensing BR versions for fear of reverse importatation (less an issue for Australia which is in a different BR region from Japan)? The large number of BR releases in the US, which compete directly against domestic Japanese releases, makes me think this isn't the problem for AU licensors.

Siren Visual presents: Naoki Urasawa'a MONSTER.

Siren Visual is proud to present the award-winning anime masterpiece MONSTER, complete with English dub, English subtitles and original Japanese audio track.

Set in Düsseldorf, Germany; MONSTER is the story of a Japanese brain surgeon who chooses to save the life of a young boy over the life of the city mayor. Bizarre serial murder follows. MONSTER is an intense psychological thriller spanning 74 episodes which will be released in 5 installments beginning November 2013.

The series is also in the infancy of a live-action adaptation by Guillmero Del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) and HBO.

More information on MONSTER available here:
anime#3750

Please note: no HD masters exist for this series - it will be some time before a bilingual Blu-ray release will be available.

I'm so happy that I live in Australia and can pick up releases like this Denou Coil, and the Cowboy Bebop blu-ray!

Except that I don't and it's making me a bitter, bitter man.
