Guess it was only a matter of time before Evangelion lost its spot at the top. Still, nice to know that Girls und Panzer is still selling like hotcakes.

Now I see why the producers of Chuu-2 want to make another season of it. Twisted Evil

I have two questions. Aren't the sales figures for the other items new to the chart kind of low? Or is this normal for this time of the year? I also noticed the same thing last week.

It's just coincidence: none of the other shows this week were ever strong performers; last week was an OVA, a rerelease and a show performing about as well as it ever has(the first volume of Next Stage doesn't seem to have charted at all).

I see. Thanks. I was wondering if we were seeing a negative trend.

The sales for the LN didn't really boost, either. It was pretty much a flop. The LN ended over a year ago too, so theres not really much reason to promote it anymore.

If it makes you feel better though, the original writer of the LN version is getting a new anime this Fall. Heres the synopsis of Log Horizon:

"The story begins when 30,000 Japanese gamers are trapped in the fantasy online game world Elder Tale. What was once a sword-and-sorcery world is now the real world. The main lead Shiroe attempts to survive with his old friend Naotsugu and the beautiful assassin Akatsuki."

Sounds like a really original LN and I can't wait to see it animated.

Seems like it. What a shame that Japanese otaku do no support different/unique anime.

Why support a show you don't like or didn't go well? I found the series to be sloppily constructed, jumping from place to place with little connection or continuity. That may have turned off prospective buyers. No one to support anything just on principle.

Well, you can see some of these issues in shows like Sword Art Online. And yet, it is selling a ton.

See: Job Truniht on democracy.

There's a ton of anime that should have sold more, why they didn't is anyone's guess. Why did SAO sell so well comparatively? It's just more popular in the fandom.

Of the Blu-rays on that list, I own Chuu2 6, Eva, Tamako Market 3, and Girls und Panzer 3 and 4...

I'm quite happy to see the GuP numbers rising and rising. ^^

You hit the nail in the head. POPULARITY (not quality) is the reason why SAO is selling so much. I agree that it is all about popularity. I just disagree on your thinking that Maoyu did not because of its pacing/plot issues.

To me Maoyu and SAO are about the same in terms of writing quality. The reason why one did not sell well and other did sell well is that one series contains discussions about politics and economics, will the other series is very interested on pandering to otaku's shallow interests.
