I'm liking this so far.
I can understand Yukari's feelings about the whole situation with school and her parents but I can also understand why she wants to break free of the mold she is being forced into. Which is probably why Isabella asked Yukari if her involvement with the group is due to Exam Stress. It's my understanding that kids in Japan, and possibly in the States as well, snap because of this. Exam Stress was also mentioned in Fushigi Yugi....spoiler[Miaka's brother snapped and began reading porn! ] But, back to Paradise Kiss...George seems to be interesting as well. He might have a somewhat twisted personality, I'll have to wait and see. I like Miwako and Arashi. I don't think I've seen such a pierced person in real life let alone anime! I don't know about Isabella yet, the first DVD really didn't have much character development for her yet. But, she does seem to be concerned about the well-being of her "family." I liked how the creators mixed "real world" with the animation. While I did notice the "real" stuff, it was not jarring to me. What I didn't like was the creatures crawling around at various times. I'm not really certain why they are there and what their point is. I enjoyed the music in this one as well. I especially enjoyed the ending theme by Franz Ferdinand. Very catchy! I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of this series. |

I also bought the first volume of paradise kiss. I though that the opening theme was great "Lonely in gorgeous", it has a certain catch to it, the music throughout the episodes are good as well.
The only thing that bothers me is in episode 4 spoiler[after yukari left george's house, a few moments later George is seen with a woman, and when he left she was sleeping in his place.Later on in the end credits someone was stated as a prostitue.Plus the fact that he's bi. I mean i have nothing against them but does Yukari even know? to be honest George is a hot bisexual.  Too bad he likes guys too. 
] So then I'm thinking did he just sleep with some prostitue? spoiler[Even after he told Yukari that he likes her.] But all in all, the attraction between George and Yukari makes this series interesting. Complications and friction occurs throughout the story. So therefore, i really loved this series and i cant wait until the next volume is released on febuary 20. I don't think she's a prstitute. I think that she's related because in the credits there was a character named Yukino Koizumi. And since we weren't formally introduced to a member of George's family, I'm assuming that's her. |

Oh i see...wow that made me wonder for such a long time, It actually really bothered me
i was like what a lying jerk. If she was related to him though, she seemed realy flirty but then again japanese people do seem a bit strange. Specially when it comes to siblings falling inlove with each other.ex(sakura diaries) hahaha

spoiler[It's his mom.] This is one of my favorite anime! I saw it fansubbed, and I've also bought the first DVD and plan to buy the rest. I love how realistic the characters feel. My favorite is Isabella, especially when they explain her past in a later episode....so touching. That's my favorite episode. The ending is awesome, because spoiler[it's very bittersweet and realistic. I mean, George is not the commiting type, so it's obvious he and Yukari would break up. However, Yuakri was changed very much by her relationship with George, so it doesn't feel cheap.] |

ParaKiss is one of my favorite series. I really hope Geneon does it the justice it deserves, I have no reason to think they won't of course. My only gripe with the series is the manga ending was a little better than the series.

I bought Paradise Kiss the very day that it came out...but even though I love it...I think the manga is better. Then again...isnt it always (or almost always) the case when a novel is adapted into film. I'm not saying other manga to anime series are that way though. The opening (and ending) for that matter are awesome. And hats off to hanachan01who said Isabella was their favorite character...he (or should I say she) is so great! Then again...I love how everyone is so open about things. Whether it be sex, crossdressing, etc. I wish more people that I knew were like that. I guess I just like the reality that it shows. I wish I knew people like them. Miwako is too adorable and Arashi is just too sexy for words...haha his piercings are fabulous.
P.S. Was it just me, or was anyone else dissapointed with George and Yukari's first kiss? In the manga, if you read it, she says that it practically went on forever...and in the anime it was like three seconds. I also wish that they would focus some more on the clothing...because I think it's really different than what is in other series. |

Yukari did seem to indicate that their kiss went on for a long time in the anime as well. I sure the reason why it wasn't animated as such is due to time constraints And the fact they probably didn't want people to potentially change the channel when two people kept kissing for 5 minutes of screen time. I don't think that I've ever seen a mainstream movie/tv series where two characters kept kissing that long anyway. You just got the feeling of that due to camera angles and editing. |

Yeah, LydiaDianne I get all of that...I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic. If I saw the anime before reading the manga...maybe I would have thought spoiler[ the manga kiss went (or seemed) to go on too long. Whatever I see/read first I tend to base everything off of...even if, in this case, a five-minute kiss wouldn't be so hot for ratings.]

I loved the manga -Para Kiss and Nana have turned Ai Yazawa into my favorite shoujo author/artist.
I've been hearing from those who have read the manga before watching the anime that the anime version story-wise is inferior to the manga, but I think it will still be quite an entertaining experience to see all those beautiful clothes in colors. I'll wait for the boxset. |
