The franchise really does have the Midas touch. Incredible.

That's really somethin' else.

I'm excited to read this one myself. Though nothing's ever perfect, AoT has been a real joy to experience so far.

That's cool.

But since it is so popular, do you guys also think they will give it an anime adaption? Or is it still to soon to mention it?

The background of Levi was once mentioned in the anime series but they said they didn't really knew what happened, only that Erwin convinced him somehow to join the survery corps and than this spin off came.. so what do you guys think?

The staff also apologized for inconveniencing readers who wanted to read the other works in the November issue.

500% increase in shoujo/josei sales and the majority are males? I think fans of the other artists deserve more than an apology.

However, that issue sold out throughout Japan within a week, so ARIA reprinted the entire prologue in the December issue on October 28.

... and adding to the insult doesn't count. I guess printing additional copies of the issue in question was an impossibility?

So it's good for the publisher, bad for the rest of the, what's the word, artists and their actual fans? Milk that franchise dry, ok?

^ How do you know that the majority of the new ARIA buyers were male?

Attack on Titan has three spinoff manga?! (And a light novel series?) Wow!

I really hope Isayama and Co. have planned out the plot very, very carefully, otherwise, unlike the Titans, the manga franchise'll collapse under its own weight!

sorry to be nitpicking but Levi is not a captain, he's a corporal.

"兵長 【へいちょう】 former rank in the Japanese army and navy, equiv. to private first-class, lance corporal, etc."

this manga looks really good, can't wait for it to start.
I pre-ordered next issue of Aria because I know it'll sell like hotcakes...

Now, that would be totally something else! I think the probability is very low, but if that should ever happen I would be unbelievably happy.

Sorry to tell you buddy, but 'Captain' is also correct. That's the official translation that Kodansha U.S.A. decided to go with.

Yes, and they're all licensed for English release, including the LNs! Very Happy

Sounds like ARIA's enjoying soaking in the AoT franchise's crazy popularity xD I'm really looking forward to this manga spin-off.

Huh, that's actually rather small relative to Levi's popularity, given that a 500% increase is just under 70k, which is less than 5% of the overall readship of SnK in Japan.

I would have expected more, though I imagine Kodansha wants to be conservative with the print numbers as scarcity tends to drive demand up even more. Quite smart.

You're confusing two things! The magazine readership and manga volume readership. While Shingeki no Kyojin each volume sales around 1.4 Millions copies his Magazine sales less than 200 thousand copies(The magazine name is "Bessatsu shonen Magazine").
Increasing the Magazine readership is a lot harder than the volume readership. The magazine readership depends on all the list of titles in the magazine the Volume only in that one title.

As an example you have Jojo's Bizarre Adventures, when it was changed to Ultra Jump, it had increase in sales, but it still was selling really low compared how the title sell.
Ultra Jump sells 55,000 copies per month.
Jojo's Bizarre sells 800,000 copies per volume.

An Increase of 500% in a magazine just because of a title is outstanding!
