anime's history with depictions of non-white people is... spotty, at best
And does Mahvel seriously think they can compete with some of the bigger Japanese children's collectable shows? |

I doubt they're expecting it to be huge, but it'll get kids to know the names at least. Or maybe they plan on marketing it to westerners more like the previous Marvel anime thingies.
Anime doesn't have that racial quota thing like American cartoons do. They can get away with not having a token black guy in a team-based show. Though the lack of Spider-Man makes me wonder if Japan is also affected by that 'Sony owns Spider-Man' embargo or whatever that made it so Spider-Man can't be in certain Marvel shows. Is that still a thing? |

Whoops, didn't notice him there in the backrgound. Since he wasn't one of the main five I just assumed he wasn't in it. Now that I read the blurb it makes sense Spider-Man is the mentor figure given he's the most popular Marvel hero in Japan.
But it's kinda unfortunate timing on this show's part, Youkai Watch premiered not too long ago and it also does the whole 'little disks that summon monsters' thing. |

I stand corrected. When I said this was the dumbest thing I've ever seen in years, I was talking about the anime. I've now seen the explanation of how the game works. THAT is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in years. WOW... that is the lamest game I've ever seen.

When I first heard "Avengers" anime, Ii thought that's what it meant...like Wolverine or Blade (meh).

you wouldn't by any chance be referring to black panther as the token black guy would you? pretty sure he's a well established character to the point where he actually would be of better use to the writers. ... But in this case, his absence is probably for the better |

Japan just stop... you've already shown on what is it, four occasions, now that you don't understand these characters. Just stop. Leave these characters to people who actually know what they're doing with them.
