It's 677 pages. It's a full-fledged novel--nothing "light" about it.

...Sorry for the short report. There's really no way I can better support this point. Razz

While I'm not disputing that this isn't a light novel, but number of pages has nothing to do with it being a light novel or not. Light novels are a specific type of publication in Japan, in that they're novels with illustrations in them. I don't know about Another specifically, but regardless of length, if it has illustrations in it, it's considered a light novel.

manga#14683

IIRC there have been a couple of different releases with different cover art, and I think the number of volumes may have been different too? None of the information in our encyclopedia was submitted by me, so I can't remember when I looked it up before, or why.

Wikipedia says:
Quote:
Another is a 677-page novel written by Yukito Ayatsuji. The novel was originally serialized in Kadokawa Shoten's literary magazine Yasai Jidai in intermittent periods between the August 2006 and May 2009 issues. A compiled tankōbon volume was published on October 29, 2009 and a two-volume bunkobon edition was released on September 25, 2011. A re-release of the bunkobon edition featuring illustrations by Noizi Ito was released under the imprint Sneaker Bunko on March 1, 2012.

So it sounds like the initial version was the larger "novel style" one, and that illustrations were only added on the second of two LN-size re-releases.

Yen Press referred to it as a "novel" in their license announcement: http://www.yenpress.com/2012/07/new-license-announcements/

I'm voting for removing the "light".
