singles are not always a bad thing
it is easier for people to save a few dollars a month then ask them to save 400$ and pay it all in one lump sum

as for monogatari series, it also lets people buy the arcs they want and not have to purchase the whole complete set right away

kill la kill is popular but that is going to fade
they need to capitalize on this as fast as possible

I think the BD cover is quite good. Don't mind you can't see the title clearly because of Ryūko Matoi gloriousness. There is always the spine for those title completionists.

Yes it is nice for some, that they are breaking it up. Which makes it affordable to purchase. On the other hand think how much room five LE's are going to take up on our shelves.

Then why even bother putting it there if the title is going to be on the spine? Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but it just looks a little sloppy to me design wise. Having the title blocked out that way just doesn't really excite me. Of course, I'm only talking for myself your tastes may differ.

I understand, but even some American comics have done the same thing. Though, a lot of the time they don't have as good of a cover as Kill la Kill.

Sure and many American comics have also had the titles being destroyed, etc. However, its a different medium. Most American comics that I recall (it has been a long time since I followed them) even when they obliterated the title in some fashion still either had it in small letters above the price or in the inside on the first page. Plus many were a monthly with a built in fan base. In the old days they were made to be picked up off a rack and flipped thru. You pretty much had more than one opportunity to catch the title.

Well, I don't know about nowadays, but I would disagree. The Kill la Kill design is pretty simple with main character and some flashy stars and no real background. Its not complex nor is it particularly different. Maybe if they do something with the texture of the paper on the LEs then that would add some visual and maybe even some tactile variety to the design.

Again this is my reaction to the design, which I find underwhelming and which you obviously do not. Perhaps they did something more interesting for the LEs since unlike the DVDs and normal BDs they do have another side on the back of the box. At least I hope they did and didn't do something extra lazy like repeat the design on the backside too.

Anyways no need to beat this to death. I think we can agree to disagree on this one.

Hm, I'm pretty conflicted on Oreimo 2. I do own the first series and I wouldn't mind paying $80 for the set considering all the extra stuff it comes with... But that ending kinda ruined things.

To complete or not to complete, that is the question...

is your first set DVD?
do you usually watch DVDs?
then it's fine to buy it

otherwise, hell no.
screw aniplex usa DVD releases.
you will be able to find the bluray used next year for probably under 200$.
the first set on bluray sells for about 150$ used in japan.
in america though, it goes for closer to 200-300$.

Yeah, I got the DVD set they released first.

I liked the first season and most of the second season, but then it went to shit. So I might pass on it, but then my first season DVD set will look lonely without its companion...

This is why buying an Oppo was a wonderful investment on my part. :3

I can buy most of these shows straight from Amazon UK without paying these retarded Aniplex USA prices. Viva la Oppo!
