I accidently got Noitamina involved because Flower of Evil my bad but i genially believe that some few(?) directors/writers do not care for financial gain as a leading cause to get out of bed or work 60+ hours a week. Recognition and awards on your side can be a very important "political tool" too to get other things funded OR fill the void of ones ego. I am not saying that many go about their business to straight out loose money or realistically break about even but not everyone is Brad Ratner. I for example would never have approved of Mushishi, Ghost in the Shell Innocence or the Wind Rises if i were a studio head. Good bye Ghibli my sweet prince. Just watch the Jodorowsky´s dune(doc of the year for me). That man refused to bend on anything and left the movie business to write sweet frech comics.

Overweight female leads are 90% josei manga domain and porn. Real Drive(needs more love) was the last anime i remember that cared about different types of bodyshapes for leading ladies without beeing a comedy about it. A cool male exampel is wolf-form Hige from Wolf's Rain.

Directors are not the ones funding the shows, so why are you even bringing them up?

Mushishi is among the top 10% disc sellers, I really doubt it was not profitable, its probably made a profit of disc sales alone. And GitS is is the best seller in its genre, and the wind rises, like other ghibli movies, are always very profitable. Whats the point of bringing up series that are profitable to 'proof' that big companies fund shows just for the 'art'? You have not shown any proof that Mushishi was, just all most other late-nigth tv anime, was funded for for the 'art'.

On a sidenote, Aku no Hana did not air on the Noitamina block either.

I realy need to look at which station airs what.
Git 2(one of the reasons why big budged anime films took a time out) and enough Ghibli movie are money holes. E.g. Kaguya or Yamadas. 10 years of blue ray sales won´t help the studio in the present after all. The Wind Rises was (thankfully) saved by the foreign market big time. A very fickle mistress at times. But look at the studio now. Sad panda face.

Hiroshi is only a freelancer and is thus the one who is being paid rigth. There also lies the problem. One bomb too many and you are out. His only "sellout" jobs are Pokemon and Monser Rancher over a decade ago and a second series after 8 years in a somewhat bad market is a gamble i would never have embarked upon. Where exactly did the money for Mushishi 2 come from mainly ?
Artland produced but i wonder how much money Aniplex USA through in. I never said that this show got a sequel for just arts sake alone. A way better examples of that is Angel's Egg. Only the 80s had money for that neat insanity.

You really need to post sources if you want to claim GitS and ghibli movies are money holes, otherwise why would anybody take it seriosly?

We are just going in circles here, this is just pointless. It was aniplex who funded it, the director has nothing to do with this.

The director beeing sad:

Budget of next movie and now half cg because they don´t have the money: $3.5 million. Innocence is the only "flop" in the Gits series to be fair.

You have to make 2,5 time the money in Hollywood to be considered a success. Who kows what that number in asia is.

Ghibli beeing sad and about to kill director Takahata for real: http://en.rocketnews24.com/2013/11/28/why-is-studio-ghiblis-latest-anime-struggling-at-the-box-office/
I remember when this was about anime previews Razz.

Would point out that CR still has two pending announcement slots for the fall season. One is the cooking series, which they have announced that they have but have not announced a time for yet (which is presumably why it's not showing there). And the other? CR already has the remaining two series to debut this season (Girl Friend BETA and Yuki Yuna), so that only leaves Ronia or one of the two series that have been skipped over so far (Amagi Brilliant Park and Magic Kaito 1412) as options.

The "cooking series" is already in the list with the two blank spots left. Case Closed (Detective Conan), on the other hand, has not been added to the line-up page, so that might be one of the spots. I hope it is Amagi Brilliant Park on delaycast!

I am also hoping that's what that means, as the descriptions I've heard for AMB (haven't resorted to fansubs on it yet) make it sound interesting.

There's 2 more ?? after Case Closed, so Case Closed is already "accounted for", so there's still 2 more to announce left (if they don't pull one or both).

Of the few things left that haven't aired or been made available yet, Mushishi 2 is probably one of them, the other quite possibly might be Wake Up, Girl Zoo!, since they have both the Movie and TV series.

Amagi Brilliant Park is in an odd situation. Hyouka was the last time KyoAni actually adapted a Kadokawa property. Everything else past that point (up to this series) has been from the their own label or original, and all but Free! has been a TBS series. So there's a high probability it could be stuck in a similar Kadokawa "void" that Hyouka was/is, and if it is indeed a TBS series (it would be the first time since I've been paying attention that TBS doesn't have a single series for a season if it isn't), regardless of whether it actually gets a stream or not, it will most likely become a Sentai catalog title at some point.

Hey, now this this-privilege, SJ crap has invaded anime forums as well. I can't say how happy I am about that (!). And no, there shouldn't be more fat girls in anime because fat girls don't sell. Why? Because (from my understanding) being fat is very shameful in Japan. Also, lol at your description of the inugami in Kokkuri. Child rapist? This is why you people are never taken seriously. For the record, an inugami is a malicious spirit by definition, given the process of evoking one. Kitsune, on the other hand, are rarely malicious, usually being benevolent (Kokkuri is probably a zenko, thus benevolent) or mischievous (yako, sometimes even malicious, but rare). Also, the inugami's actions have no sexual tone. The sleeping and bathing together are forms of "skinship" in Japan, and are not usually seen as sexual activities. In short... your complaint is pathetic.

Now, back on topic: I'm going to keep this short and sweet. Watch Parasyte. Drop whatever you are doing right now and go watch Parasyte. Why are you still reading this? Go watch Parasyte right now. No, don't google to get more info, just go watch it.

Utena:

Liking or not liking certain body types is personal preference that everyone is free to have, my point was only about health issues, not about the looks per se. Hence I also talked about propaganda of tobacco smoking which as bad for your health as junk food, but does not affect looks in such degree.

(And yes, I totally see voluptuous people as being seen as cute: -- one of my favourite characters.)
