It's actually kind of scary that I remembered pretty much every song from the shows that I'd watched, starting with Honey and Clover. (2005? Good lord that was ages ago.)

My votes were:

1. Suneohair - Waltz (Honey and Clover)
2. SFP - futuristic imagination (Eden of the East)
3. immi - Sign of Love (House of Five Leaves)
4. SFP - RPG (C - control)
5. Aimer - Rokutousei no Yoru (No.6)
6. SFP - How to go (UN-GO)
7. supercell - My Dearest (Guilty Crown)
8. YUKI - Sakamichi no Melody (Kids on the Slope)
9. EGOIST - Namae no nai Kaibutsu (Psycho-Pass)
10. Yuuki Ozaki(from Galileo Galilei) - Trigger (Terror in Resonance)

. . . Man, I really miss School Food Punishment . . . Sad

$31? Did I read that correctly? That's cheaper than many 4-disc sets I've seen come out over here. Hell, that's less than how much it cost me to buy a sealed copy of the Pillows - Runners High from CD Japan, last year.

It must be the weakened yen, if you keep up with the economic news out of Japan you may have heard about the yen being weakened.

The weakened Yen certainly explain why it's so close to $30 USD. Though I forgot to comment about how close that price in yen is to that Pillows CD I bought last year. I remember that disc costing more than 3,000 Yen at the time, though the prices of their stuff on CD Japan have since gone down below that number.

EDIT: I corrected "30,000 yen" to 3,000.

Yes I've been monitoring Japan's economic news. I've also been following Japan's current recession now. From what you describe to me I'm not surprised, the weakened yen is making it easier for people outside of Japan to buy stuff for cheap.

I voted the day the voting started, but was extremely disappointed to find that the Katanagatari first broadcast songs were not included. Yousei Teikoku and Ali Project's theme songs were so awesome.

I seriously don't understand why they list Katanagatari as broadcasting in 2013- That was a rebroadcast... Not the original broadcast...

Anohana Opening gets my vote. (oh, the feels)

Also, why isn't "Falling Down" by Oasis for Eden of the East an option. That one would get my vote as well. Not just because it's an english song in an anime but because it was worked well with the visuals.

Man was this a hard poll. The School Food Punishment songs were a given, but there were so many other awesome songs. The Puffy songs are great, but I could only choose 1. Fractale's op is amazing, and that op animation! In the end I went with 4 SFP songs (the ones from Ungo, C and Eden, plus the op from the 2nd Eden movie), Puffy's Genji op, Dramatic from Honey and Clover, Etsuko's Tatami Galaxy ed, the Fractale op, and the two Guilty Crown openings. Mononoke and Tsuritama's openings were close as well. Ironically, out of all the animes I chose the only ones I've actually watched are Eden and C.

I too am sad that "Falling Down" and "Do you Wanna" weren't available. Also a shame that Black Rock Shooter and Ayakashi didn't get their openings as choices, "Heat Island" was badass.

What about the prices people in Japan pay for their domestic products? Does their weakening yen explain why the Japanese price of their entertainment goods might be going down for some items? I don't know a thing about economics, so I can't help but ask

I think someone mentioned it already, but if you can't remember the song then you can say it's not really memorable and thus not really worth the vote. That was my basic criteria for voting
Quote:

Just One Life from Samurai Flamenco would have been my vote. Say what you may about the show, but that OP was FANTASTIC. Unfortunately for some reason they only have the second OP as an option (although it is also very good).

Just One Life is available, but they separated both cours of Samurai Flamenco as if they were two different series. The first cour with Just One Life is right before Silver Spoon S1.

It was a hard choice and I left out many songs I really love; I decided to pick just one song per series, otherwise it would've been impossible) (choosing between Namae no Nai Kaibutsu and Out of Control killed me). In the end I went with Sigh of Love (House of Five Leaves), Kuchizuke (Shiki), Koko Dake no Hanashi (Kuragehime), Aoi Shiori (AnoHana), Rokkusei no Yoru (No.6) Sakamichi no Melody (Kids on the Slope), Tsurezure Monochrome (Tsuritama), Anata ni Deawanakereba (Natsuyuki Rendezvous), Namae no Nai Kaibutsu (Psycho Pass), Just one Life (Samurai Flamenco) and Oto no Naru hou e (Silver Spoon S2). I definitely feel more inclined towards songs with beautiful vocals or passionate lyrics (or both, if possible), Kuchizuke being the exception because it's just so damn perfect for the show and it still gives me chills when I listen to it. Tsurezure Monochrome is another exception that I chose because the beat is so catchy and fun.

If they are doing this without the cooperation of the music rights holders, then I can understand why there aren't links to the songs. (Go try to listen to the actual version of "Natsu No Hana" that closed Mononoke. Toei doesn't seem to care if you watch the entire anime at YouTube, but Sony won't let you hear "Natsu no Hana.") Still wouldn't you think Fuji might have brought the rights holders on board for this, especially since they are releasing an album? And we're not talking about linking to the complete songs either, just the 1:30 versions that open and close the animes.

Aside from obvious choices like that song, "Mononoke Dance" from Hakaba Kitarou, and "Allegro Cantabile," I'll have to find an hour or so to track down the songs and decide which to vote for.

I went on Youtube and found someone who compiled 50 Noitamina OP clips into one video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joodPOkQmWU Not all the songs are relevant, and it doesn't include any EDs, but it's a useful reminder or introduction to most of the OPs.

Am I the only one who finds the singer YUKI (Honey & Clover "Dramatic," Kids on the Slope "Sakamichi no Melody") grating?

I had never realized they were the same, I watched H&C so long ago I didn't even remember that song. Revisiting it now it does sound way too high-pitched, but I adore Sakamichi no Melody. If we could only vote for one, I would've picked it, no questions asked. I love the music, the instruments (that single trumpet moment is just amazing), the arrangement, the feeling and YUKI's voice seems to fit it to perfection. I also really like the OP animation, it pushes all the right buttons for me and just remembering the pastel-colored images of the boys playing their instruments automatically puts me in a good mood.

At first I listened to H&C opening, I found YUKI's voice to be annoying, but few days later I found myself liking the song. It's weird. Although, her voice pitch is really high so maybe some will find her voice almost like vocaloid.

What the hell, why I can't I vote for Changes? Library War ED was fantastic.

Went with Waltz and Split, Allegro Cantabile,Konna ni Chikaku de and Tokyo et Paris, both Tatami Galaxy songs, both Kuragehime songs, and the AnoHana TV OP.

Wuff. Tough choices... No particular order...

Tatami Galaxy OP (one of my all-time favorite openings)
Tatami Galaxy ED
Eden of the East ED
Eden of the East: Paradise Lost ED
Un-Go ED (One of my all-time favorite endings)
House of Five Leaves OP (Love that pulsing intro)
Guilty Crown OP1
Shiki OP1
Ping Pong ED (wish they'd gotten supercar to do the anime's OST too... track is very reminiscent of their songs for the movie)
Nanana's Buried Treasure OP (Not sure why this edged out all others for the ten spot, except that it became the weirdest sort of earworm for me while watching the show)
