Why doesn't Otakon have more quality guests like AX...
I can only hope that they have more guests yet unannounced |

I know a few people who are going to this con and will enjoy this creator.
I always wondered one thing though. Why do japanese guests ask that no one take pictures of them? |

- Two of the most popular and prolific voice actors in japan
- Two very successful anime directors with lengthy track records
- The producer of the YTV anime block
- A live action director
- Half a dozen of the most popular dub actors
- A composer
- A popular manga-ka with an ongoing series
Plus our musical guests?
Sorry that's not good enough for you, but I'll stack our guests and programming up favorably against theirs. Even though they're bigger, better funded, more closely beholden to industry, and located in a major media hub in a town focused on entertainment.
Just wondering, have you even BEEN to Otakon or Anime Expo? |

I wish I could go see her, but I'm nowhere near Maryland, alas! Maki Murakami is an absolute goddess of bizarre pr0n... I mean, manga. Seriously, she rocks! |

Buh?
AX's guestlist this year was great but so is this one, to be honest, and it seems like they're focusing on anime & manga-related guests, unlike AX, which focused on music. Speaking as someone with more of an interest in the former than the latter (and someone who has to attend both shows), Otakon's lineup is a great compliment to the AX lineup (and has more people of personal interest to me).
But there's no pleasing some people I guess. |

I actually thought you were being sarcastic until I read your second sentence. Like someone above me mentioned, there really is no pleasing some people.
Gravitiation was hilarious, so I'm definitely looking forward to her panel (and hopefully an autograph). The fangirl population will definitely be out in droves, with both Maki Murakami and Seki Tomokazu (who was Shuichi's seiyuu, ironically) coming. It'll definitely be something to see. |

| I just took a look at Otakon's 2007 guest list, and it's really impressive. Mamiko Noto especially for me; her voice is claimed by many to be the "most beautiful" out of all seiyuu. |

I believe Japanese creators are shy when it comes to public events. they wish to keep a safe amount of anonymity because they may have families they wish to protect from rabid fans. ( If you note in one of the Gravitation doujinshi, she mentions she has a child.) Many creators have used pen names for their work to add a layer of anonymity. ( Ex. Natsuki Takaya, the creator of Fruits basket is actually a pen name.) I know people are going to say, If you are being published, you have to accept the fact that you don't have the right to privacy. Which is not true, Some creators do use real name and share a little bit about themselves while other wish to have their real identies a secret for various reasons. ( Family doesn't know they draw manga, etc.) I do hope someone doesn't be such an idiot and takes a photo of the creator. Which makes me want to ask, does anyone know a story where the creator asked for no photos and someone snuck a photo. Did staff address the problem or did they do a search of someone's person at the door. |

I never really thought of the whole rabid fan thing until recently(khyron prime made me realize this).I completely agree to the right to privacy and family(children and spouse). But doesn't making public appearance(in this case going to a con and being a major guest) contradict a right to privacy to a certain level(meaning when your doing the whole routine of a panel, concert or what ever)?Plus if your doing public appearances wouldn't that contradict your family might not know your job?
Do not get me wrong if i was going to this con and this panel i would respect the person's wishes just wondering in general. |

I don't think that it's realistic to expect that all of 22,000+ visitors will follow that request. Someone's bound to take a pictute with their cellphone (and since cellphones don't have a flash people won't know this until they will see them show up online). |

| Of course she'd appear at my hometown con the year I'm studying abroad. Oh well. I would have liked to ask if she has any plans to restart Gamerz Heaven, but I'm sure someone will ask anyway. |

I will have to do it if no one does. I love Gamerz Heaven and my fave out of her series.
While this makes me excited about Otakon next weekend, I do wish their music guest list were a bit better. I'm a bit disappointed with that, but me and my friend plan to go anyway. I just hope AAA sound something like JAM Project or something. |
