Off the top of my head, any chance that it looks like Funi's "Is this a Zombie" case?

Nah, it's not really 'sparkly.' Best I could compare it to would be the slip case for the Evangelion 1.11 special edition blu ray.

I see, thanks. It would take me at least a couple of more hours to locate that one of course Very Happy

Nope DVD.

I don't know, and I wasn't gonna' bring it up in case they changed their mind. I'm nice, but I'm not that nice. Twisted Evil

The disc is fine but the case is kinda shot. I have a whole stack of blank cases though, so that's easily remedied.

So I hit Anime North last night and scored some decent OOP deals (all items are secondhand, all prices in Cdn dollars).

All four volumes of Angel Tales (no art box): $35

DNAngel Complete Collection: $35 (cheapest copy of this version on Amazon right now is going for $120 US)

Koi Kaze with artbox: $30 (not even available on Amazon - also, a funny story. When I bought it off the Nominoichi seller, I noticed a second price tag but didn't pay much attention to it. When I looked closer later, the seller had written, "Don't make me explain this" on the tag. Laughing )

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 DVD set: $5 (this is not OOP).

Ultramaniac Collector's Box: $40 (cheapest version of this on Amazon is going for $115 - I feel particularly satisfied about this one because a few years ago I had arranged to buy this version used from a woman who was selling a bunch of other titles. The price then was also $40. Unfortunately, she got confused and thought I wanted her Utawarerumono set - well, they both start with U, I guess - so she sold it to someone else. So yeah, it feels good to get this set for the same price I would have paid.)

I picked up an OVA I'd never heard of before called Strange Love for $5 and Wings of Rean vol 2 for $5. Now I just gotta find a cheap copy of vol 1, hopefully (crap, just discovered there's actually a third volume, as well).

eta: eh, just plucked vols. 1 & 3 of Wings of Rean off of Amazon.ca for a little over $25 for both.

@Blood-
I bought Strange Love back in the VHS days. It is worth every bit of $5. Laughing And no that is not a slam on it. It is the sort of show that is good for a watch, at least once. A combination of sex and comedy. I didn't bother to replace the show when it came out on DVD.

As I remember, the CPM dub tried to say that the main character was over 18 and in college even though she wears a uniform to classes.

Wasn't that fairly common on older hentai dubs? I have one that, while it mostly doesn't come up, still styles the teacher as "professor" in an obviously high school setting. As pathetic as it is, it does have the nice side effect of solving the bare "sensei" issue, though.

Probably, I only saw a handful of those titles. Strange Love is, to the best of my recall, one of those borderline hentai titles. Lots of sexual situations and some nudity but no outright porn. I'm pretty sure there was a flash screen saying all characters were over 18 and there may have been something on the box as well. It has probably been over 15 years since I've seen it.

My friend's fiancé had a VHS of LaBlue Girl and it had this intro section that I wanted to skip (because it looked pointless), but my friend said "no, watch this, it's hilarious" and it basically said just that. Explaining how she's totally over 18 and in college despite clearly being in high school. I was just looking at it like "...the f-?" I'm curious if anyone found it to believable at all, but there was also a lot less anime back then so it was probably easier to lie to people. Clearly the only purpose was to cover all their bases "just in case" but damn if it isn't funny. I wish I could find a video of it (as I don't think it shows anything bad), just to show it to everyone else.

Anyway, I had debated if I wanted to order One Piece 1-23 manga box set from the RightStuf sale, but I determined that, during a Viz sale, it would be 40% off. Lo and behold, it ends up in the daily deals, which makes it 41% off with my discount. So I ordered that and the Mazinkaiser/Shuten Doji double pack (I only wanted Mazinkaiser, this was the cheapest way to get it). I kept debating over some of the manga my comic shop hasn't quite gotten, but I don't want to order it and have them get it in two weeks, so I'll wait, and if I'm wrong, fix next Viz sale.

Oh good, it is nice to know I didn't imagine that. I wonder if CPM ever had anyone challenge them on those notices. I never saw the video of La Blue Girl but it was well known back then. I did have a couple of the graphic novels though. They were put out by the Bare Bear Press as I remember. They may still be in storage, I'll have to check. I probably should get rid of all that hentai manga, my executors might get the wrong impression. Shocked

Have you been reading the Talkback thread on the latest Answerman column (Categorization is Death). I hate to tell you this but you are reading/watching a lot of manga/anime that you are not supposed to. Laughing

Ordered the Kill la Kill UK BD Collector's Edition Part 2 and 3. And I managed to find the Please Save My Earth DVD for $10 which is a pretty good find.
