I'm not surprised, considering how heavily influenced some of the character designs are by anime. Anyone who's played could easily see the similarities. Those Identities (level 60 thief hats) have Naruto written all over them.
 (also comes in bronze, black, and white)

| I never played Maple Story, but wouldn't Maple Story get sued for copying Bleach character designs, OR did the user create the character design, and Maple Story just provided the user accessories, clothings,and pieces of personality traits to copy Renji and Rukia? |

this is the most awesome thing i ever heard since Yu-Gi-Oh uncut  i love those pictures by the way lol they're fantastic. i can't believe i've never seen them in the game though...guess i need to maple more  |

Every character you start out with is pretty basic. You only get to pick from 3 (boring) styles of hair, hair color (blonde, black, or brown), eyes, and skin color. You also only start with simple clothes like a white t-shirt and your choice of blue or orange jean shorts. And then get a really weak weapon like a wooden club, wimpy sword, or whatever.
As you level up and eventually choose from a "job" class (Warrior, Mage, Thief, or Bowman), you can equip job-specific weapons and armor. Some of them look like anime-inspired stuff, while some don't.
In the case of these Bleach designs, those are actually a part of the Cash Shop. The game itself is free to play, but you can buy cosmetic coupons (for different hair, faces, etc.) and other accessories (a variety of costumes and stuff that you can mix and match with) to make your character look like Renji, Rukia, etc. However, as the name implies, the Cash Shop does cost real money (called NX Cash, and processed through PayPal).
Each region is actually at different levels of development with Korea being at the top (since the game originated there), then Japan 2nd, SEA (Southeast Asia) after that, or maybe GMS (Global Maple Story, basically the U.S. and whoever else wants to join), so the variety of accessories from the Cash Shop may vary.
GMS does have enough available to make a Renji or Rukia, though. |

Cool - I play Maple Story with my sister's kid online - something free that he likes and he can play and understand without a preponderance of adult stuff in it, and challenging enough to annoy the heck out of me while doing some things.
I've been playing it since about the first week they released the international English version of it, but I had played on the Korean servers before then back when it first make its debut a LONG time ago as an anime-style chat server. |

I'll be interested to see what this looks like. I Maple on and off (hopefully I'll be able to start again once I get a new computer, as my old one has been acting up recently) and I hope the anime isn't totally stupid.
Also, I wish I could afford to buy Rukia hair for my character -_- |
