I accidentally realized a couple of days ago that I had missed several installments of Answerman, and I just checked, and it no longer seems to be appearing in the right sidebar feed (which is how I keep track of new columns and features)—the latest column was posted on August 24 at 14:00, so it should show up between "Shelf Life - Group Therapy" and "Gugure! Kokkuri-san Episodes 1-12 Streaming", but it does not. However, Answerman does appear on the Column — Archives — page.

It is now in the main feed. See the July 10th column where it is announced.

I read that at the time, but did not understand its import. What's odd is that the column still occasionally appears in the sidebar feed (once a week?), which is where (IMHO) it still belongs. However, I will adapt. |

I think the significance is that they are trying a lot of different things and then checking to see what works. As far as Answerman is concerned, if it gets more exposure in the main feed, it likely will stay there. I gather some of the changes are due to the increased use of mobile devices to access the site. I don't have one myself so I can't say what difference that makes.
I figure I'll adapt regardless. |

Probably, the funny thing is that I honestly can't tell. That aspect of technology has completely passed me by. I currently use a flip phone that is voice only. No internet access and I disabled text messages. What gets me is people using tablets and such to stream video. That is OK if it is all you have but some seem to prefer squinting at those small screens while others glory in their TVs that take up the whole wall. Crazy times. |

We decided to move Answerman to the mainfeed.
When there's a really good installment, we post it to both the mainfeed and the sidebar, but Zac is trying to avoid over-crowding the sidebar, so he only posts Answerman to the sidebar sometimes... |
